If you are interested in the performance of the amplifier, THD would be specified at the full rated power. Many low integrity manufacturers will play numbers games and specify great numbers at very low power levels which is not in any way reality.

I have a pro Class D and see them from time to time on my workbench. But I have never seen a toroidal transformator hooked on a TDA amp. For full efficiency, you need a SMPS to get all the benefits.
Great video tonight no interruptions lol I was wondering about running that amplifier in a positive and negative rails format with two Transformers push-pull that would be a better way wouldn't it?
Thanks John! I think I learned how to turn off those adverts. This is in the bridge tied load topology which might be compatible to the push pull. One side of the bridge is pulling one direction while the other side of the bridge is pushing the opposite direction. ;)
do not know if you knew this. you do not get more out of an amplifier than what is max A. and V. Out from the amplifier ic. so you do not always get that much more watts out if you bridge the amplifier.
Dear sir, Thank you for good information about this product. Please I need your suggestions , I have three boards of this audio amplifier, 3×(210w+210)420w board, How many volts & watts of transformer require to operate for 3×(210w+210w)420w=1260w.
Thanks for the great question. Your math is very close, but technically the efficiency would need to be taken into account, and then some margin for temp rise. On the other hand, what's the chance that all 3 will be at the max power - and still at any length of time. So, I think it really depends on the use.
Do not know if you knew this. You do not get more out of an amplifier than what is max A. and V. Out from the amplifier ic. so you do not always get that much more watts out if you bridge the amplifier.
Thanks for the great question. I think it would do just fine. It is good to have a speaker rated more than the amp so that the amp will not over drive it or damage it.
Thanks for the great question! This board is set up for an AC input, so it does want a plus and minus voltage. It is possible as I have done, to power it with DC input voltage, but it does still want the plus and minus voltage. But this Class D can run off of a single DC input and your 24 V would work. th-cam.com/video/eybcVbWgFdA/w-d-xo.html

with 24v transformer you will never get 270w. L15D provides 150w with 50v-0v-50v DC 4 ohm. TPA3116 24v power supply 50w 4 ohm. you need up to 60v but amplifier ic. can not handle 2x60v.
Thanks for the great question! It depends on the size of the capacitor and the load. It could be as high as 34V. That would also be the peak of the voltage, so a cap can charge to that value.
Your power measurement looks identical to what I got, but I am surprised at the current waveform. Voltage looked like ok, then how current waveform could be different? Again you're probing against a resistive load. Is anything I am missing?
That's a great question! If you put a particular current waveform into a resistor you would expect to see the same waveform in Voltage;) I need to investigate this more. There is an LC output filter, so it is possible that the phase is changed somewhat but it is still a bit tricky to explain away. I'll do more experiments and we will see what we find. Stay tuned;)
