I had to be educated on the dynamics of religion and the contents of witchcraft, spells, ceremonial practices, rituals, even Luciferism, I was not aware of. I just bottled it up together until Holy Spirit made me aware how clever this world is tricking my kids. These things aren't really new. It's biblical ancient of days stuff. Thanks for a rewarding episode 👍Your channel has become one of my favorites. Sweden's church culture is very different compared to the USA and that you give an "old lady" the opportunity to finally learn more about the topics you cover is very rewarding. And I have to say I just love your sense of humor and the respect you have in your conversations around the topics you bring up ☺
I thought the latest Doctor Strange was brazen in championing sorcery and necromancy. It was far more than a peripheral medium for good and evil. It is showing up everywhere in our entertainment in different ways than before. And people have a new interest in supernatural things. The church has to be mature and ready.
“Magic Culture” has been and will continue to be apart of our fallen world. It may be Our eyes/ears havent been attuned to it. This series is so important. Many folks today in US practicing these things grew up in church and have been extremely hurt and or folks who’ve experienced severe trauma in general who are trying to regain control power. When we understand this helps us to have empathy and patience.
I’m not Eastern Orthodox Christian, but the part around 27:00 about the Nephilim, Rephaim, and magic introduction is a belief in Eastern Orthodox and is discussed at length in a podcast call “Lord of Spirits” in their “Giants” episode. It’s super interesting!
Thank you for covering this topic. I live in the Minneapolis area. It has been dubbed "Paganistan" because there is a large number of Wiccan and Pagans who practice what they believe. We need evangelism here in the metro area.
We went up to the Mall of America for a couple days from Iowa and I haven't been to the twin cities in 20+ years. There is definitely an oppressive spiritual darkness (probably my interpretation of sensing the demonic principalities) over that place. I assumed it has to do with all the Somalians bringing Islam there.
Such an important conversation, thank you! There can be no discernment when we don't understand the differences. That's why teaching the gifts can be dicey - the average Christian has no clue of pagan practices, and therefore cannot discern when a practice (or an outcome of a practice) is from Yahweh or from another source. This conversation should be 'must watch TV' before any gifts training/teaching (and I know I'm dating myself with the "must watch tv" phrase 😁).
I have read Heiser and have heard a bit about magic beliefs in the Ancient Near East, but this may be the first time I heard about (or remember hearing) Israel's request for a king placed in the context of semi-divine/nephilim kingship. Thank you, Elijah!
there really wasn't enough content about why Elijah left Bethel. Especially when bethel's school of Supernatural Ministry is named, by their own people the "Hogwarts School of Supernatural Ministry." The irony cannot be overstated here. Bethel is absolutely saturated with the occult and magic it is extremely concerning that that was not dealt with in this episode more than it was.
I'm not a defender of bethel however I would like it if you could provide the evidence or people who have named the supernatural ministry "hogwarts school of supernatural ministry." Thanks.
I enjoyed this- I do feel like they need to give Elijah more time to talk like they did with Sam Storms. I enjoy listening to the guests really tell the stories they know and get information out there. I know when you get multiple preachers in a room it’s easy to get everyone wanting to preach lol
“Magic is when we try to manipulate the natural realm in order to manipulate the spiritual realm”. I guess the next thing in this definition that needs be fleshed out is the word “manipulate”. Prayer, fasting, water baptism, communion, child dedication, ect. Could all potentially be categorized as magic when you’re dealing with a human heart that is misaligned from God’s…We see this with Simon in Acts 8. Did Moses perform “magic” with having the people look at a bronze serpent to be healed in numbers?
I'm very curious about his experience with Bethel. Some of the books endorsed and written by leaders at Bethel teach the embrace/redemption of New Age practices (Physics of Heaven, When Heaven invades Earth). You guys touched on the urge for some in the church to embrace/redeem New Age. Maybe what I've heard is blown out of proportion, but I'm not convinced that is the case. Keep up the good work, brothers.
Fascinating! I was in a BSF study and it was Children of the promise land, and I was very depressed about all the death, but along the way, the Holy Spirit showed me what that was about and it was still hard to read, i completely understood the situation! And why it was done and the ramifications of not following through.
Minute 38: Yup . Santeria Voodoo and it’s overwhelming derivatives are alive and well and growing in popularity. There’s witch shops called botanicas not only in Latin America but right here in the USA
You are absolutely right. I know this by experience I was raised Catholic and yet many of the Catholic I knew practice Santeria, and other false religions, and also consider themselves Catholics at the same time. Very sad

Excellent interview and content. If I may push back on one thing, I think the "Christianization of Pagan Holidays" is overplayed and not accurate to history, especially if one looks at primary sources. It's often part of atheist, pagan and fundamentalist rhetoric, rather than accurate to history: it's "fakelore." The dating of All Saints on November 1st, and Christmas on December 25th has nothing to do with pagan holidays. Christians in continental Europe were commemorating the faithful departed on November 1st circa 741 AD (when a chapel was dedicated to "St. Peter and All Saints"), while in 9th Century Ireland of all places they were still commemorating All Saints on April 20th. Trick or Treating (originally "souling") and costumes (guising) also had medieval Catholic origins, not ancient pagan. If there are pagan influences on these holidays it's their modern paganization thanks to Hollywood and the current zeitgeist. And I don't want to downplay these modern dangers.
Thank you for this series. Now that you guys are touching on church history. Would you have any recommendations on good sources of learning church history?
Yes!! It is so necessary, but beyond that the church needs to address the gifts some of us have but have no guiding. I'm what the world would call a Clairecognizant Empath. The church would call it the Gift of Knowledge and Gift of Discernment. I also have experienced things as a believer with no occultic background, always loved church, that are hard to interpret without godly counsel but it's hard to find sound doctrine so I never sought to grow in the gifts.
Your guest in his introductory statements identifies 'alternative' medicine as one area where magic and spiritism are being practiced. Why did he need to add the word 'alternative'? Does this mean he is affirming conventional medicine as being free of magic and spiritism? If so, what is his biblical basis for issuing warnings concerning 'alternative' medicine but not 'conventional' medicine?
I understand what you’re saying and you make a good point. Just want to clarify that “Alternative medicine” is the actual name used for anything not conventional (not a label he is making up). He may be also referring to the idea that homeopathy is based on occult practices (something I’m new to learning about, and have no real knowledge of or opinion about). Pasting this from “Christian Answers for the New Age”: “Homeopathy is based on occult and illogical beliefs about the memory of water, that diluting something makes it more potent (that's because some of the original substances used were dangerous and had to be diluted, so they changed the formula), shaking something in water passes the "energy" into the water (which "remembers" it), and other nonsense.” ~ Marcia Montenegro.
(Continued.. the zeros didn’t copy correctly so there is probably more.) Oscillococcinum a common homeopathic flu remedy sold at CVS for $25.99 for 12tablets. Its "active" ingredient is Anas Barbarae Hepatis et Cordis Extractum (extract of Muscovy Duck liver and heart). The inactive ingredient Is sugar. As with all homeopathic remedies, it is diluted, which is claimed to make it stronger. This particular remedy is diluted to what is called a 200C dilution, What that means is that the original ingredient is first diluted 1:100 (C* meaning 100). Then that 1:100 dilution is again diluted 1:100. This is repeated 200 times until the resulting dilution is 1*10-400 To help you wrap your head around this number, consider this. The human body naturally contains 0.000007% arsenic, and 0.00000000000003% radium - very toxic substances in higher amounts, but no effect at these levels. In contrast, the amount of Muscovy Duck liver and heart extract in this remedy is: 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% In other words, there is not a single molecule of the active ingredient in this product. Yet this product, and hundreds of others like it are sold side by side with effective over-the-counter medicines at your local pharmacies, with no indication (other than the "200C* on the label) that the ingredients on the label do not actually exist in the product.
Except there are some modern experiments that indicate the presently labeled "occult" theory behind homeopathy may very have a non-understood scientific mechanism. And should it end up eventually being proven conclusively in a scientific manner, then yesterday's magic becomes today's science. And there are many historical examples of this with things we enjoy in our modernity.
Quick question guys, if I vaguely remember roundtree stated in the Halloween episode you guys did a while back. He stated yea I take my kids trick or treating etc.. My question is this .. What do you guys think about Elijah basically stating that Halloween saints day etc was pagan and it's beginnings were to talk with the dead .. roundtree kind of spoke up in this interview and stated he pushed back on that in a bit but didn't explain to Elijah he celebrates Halloween and sees no wrong in it .. My other question is this why do church's celebrate Halloween ( trunk or treat) etc.. I'm having difficulty explaining to my son why we don't celebrate Halloween but all the month of October my son sees these videos of upcoming events at our church celebrating it ?
@@juliafleshman1735 why do they celebrate / not see anything wrong with the holiday at remnant radio? .. is it because the church were they pastor at celebrate it ? . Because I love remnant radio and love how they deep dive the theological subjects of GOD and Christianity etc . I guess I don't seem to understand why on hay Halloween episode in the past they all kind of agreed it's not bad to celebrate it ?
Catholics and Protestants celebrate festivals like Halloween, Christmas, Lent, and Easter because their religions are based on mixing paganism with biblical Christianity. For anyone looking for an explanation, Deut. 12:29-31 shows God outlawing the observation of occult festivals in all of their forms, especially the "Christianized" ones.
I think the point about being known more for what you're against than what you're for, is that it can create an image that seems overly hostile to those on the outside of the movement thereby serving to drive folks away rather than attracting their interest. Like imagine how effective advertising would be if it only pointed out the many reasons you need the product/service... It's only a certain kind of personality that is attracted by combativeness, many people are conflict averse and in looking at the overall aesthetic of the New Age for instance, as opposed to that of the conservative Christian church...New Agers are all about reaching out, showing 'love', inclusiveness and 'tolerance', by contrast it seems you only hear from the Christians when they have something to criticize, and even then the criticism is often not consistent and frequently leads to more 'infighting' than actually impacting the secular world. I use parentheses '' alot because I'm talking about impressions and appearances, not the way things truly are - but I'd say most people won't dig further to find the truth of anything without a good reason to do so, which is why a good impression is important if you really want to reach people. Just thought I'd add 2c seeing as this question wasn't really addressed as far as I understood. Great discussion! Super useful information, thanks guys.
He brought up the Egyptian religion briefly. Vocab Malone engages with the Kemet community. He brings up (as an internal critique) some of the creation myths. He is right they are vulgar and what not.
I have Augustine's "City of God" just sitting on the book shelf. I have had a glance at it and it is a very good primary source from the end of the Roman Empire. The idea that the Roman world went completely Christian after Constantine is just not true. He has an interesting part on horoscopes where he debunks them. There really is nothing new under the sun.
Egyptian plagues, re the last one being the death of the first born referring to Pharaoh. He wasn’t a first born or he’d have died, so does that help us identify a Pharaoh who came to the throne because his elder brother had died? I didn’t just notice that all by myself. But I’d like to know the answer. Egyptologist’s must have thought of that
Rowntree's definition kind of sounds like a Christian can't practice magic - but they can. I know a lot of folks who got lured into occult practices as believers, and their argument was it was ok for them because of their covenant with Christ, who gave them the keys, so to speak. Elijah's definition feels inadequate because some forms of occult practice bypass nature and go straight to the spiritual, in order to manipulate the natural. I think it's a revolving door in that sense. If Elijah's definition was expanded by adding, "or vice versa," I'd be content with it. An older pastor friend of mine, who has been in ministry for over 50 years, recently asked me if I'm positive delegated authority is a real thing. That's an interesting question! He is charismatic, but wonders if people are going off the rails because they keep being told they've "been given the keys to the car" when it comes to performing miracles. It is a sobering question!
This is great and very interesting! Thanks for this podcast. I am wondering if you could talk about this: I have a problem with the word gods. He talks about in the end of energies, demons, gods, spirits. What and who are those gods? Are they demons, or at least are they on "the dark side", because I do not see a neutral side in this, and only God is good. I also wonder if these false gods are ghost, people who are dead. 1. Samuel 28, Saul brings Samuel from the dead with the help from a magic lady. It this that energi/power?
@@republiccooper what if they think they're using the spiritual power of the Holy Spirit but attempt it with the use of crystals, divination tools etc?
I’m not totally sure the view of the evolution of religion was presented correctly. A good summary of it is found in the book “Neighboring Faiths”. From what I understand, perhaps the evolution of religion is still found in secular culture, but not in academia. In reality what was first seen was monotheism and then polytheism developed. Again- check out the book, it’s fascinating.
Genocide was mandatory before Christ. That wasnt a hyperboles. The worse part of evil the world has yet to see would have occurred before Christ. The point of the Old Testimont and New is to show Gods heart, design, character, reasoning so the end of ages there is no doubt even in heaven He did absolutely everything perfectly. Hes seeing the big picture - the end from the beginning. Otherwise Christ would have been revealed directly after adam sinned. We had to see what sin does, how were sifted, how satan is held back or released. All of this was mandatory for a whole end outcome.
Yall were asking at the beginning , how this is helpful, mann, this context is just soo insightful as to why the isrealites continued to worship.the Gods as well as the rest of the world. This helped me understand a lot.
CHILD SACRIFICE was also a major issue that absolutely grieved God during that time.
Very true I was wondering why they didn't mention this
This is all being brought out the last couple years showing us it's as big today as back then it never ended just went behind the scenes

Cannibalism was far more common and widespread in human history as well.

Dr michael heiser put "magic" culture into perspective
Do you have a link to this? Thanks!
My other question is this why do church's celebrate Halloween
( trunk or treat) etc.. I'm having difficulty explaining to my son why we don't celebrate Halloween but all the month of October my son sees these videos of upcoming events at our church celebrating it ?
Watch Chuck Missler, on this specific subject. He gives a historical view of this pagans festivities, and why not to celebrate it.
I think the answer is yes.... Encompassing the Michael Heiser theory and the theory here about the religions of Canaan and even magic.
😂😂 what a title, wish I could watch this live
He brought up the Egyptian religion briefly. Vocab Malone engages with the Kemet community. He brings up (as an internal critique) some of the creation myths. He is right they are vulgar and what not.
Elijah? Elijah what? I do not see his name in the description. I couldn't catch the name of his documentary. i want to see it.
It can be confused… I showed my granddaughter Chris Reed had a IHOP service while he was speaking and giving words, and she says “ oh he’s a psychic.”
I like this dude!
21:03 “that’s right” 😂
I have Augustine's "City of God" just sitting on the book shelf. I have had a glance at it and it is a very good primary source from the end of the Roman Empire. The idea that the Roman world went completely Christian after Constantine is just not true. He has an interesting part on horoscopes where he debunks them. There really is nothing new under the sun.
Jesus or power? That’s what Simon the magician had trouble with.
Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
👀 spooky
I prefer Rowntree's definition. Good job!
Neither definition seems quite right to me. Ish, but not quite
@@DustyMayT what about mine? Witchcraft or magic is the use of any spiritual power outside of the Holy Spirit.
@@republiccooper what if they think they're using the spiritual power of the Holy Spirit but attempt it with the use of crystals, divination tools etc?
Guys you talk too much, let the guest speak please

It’s not Revelation 2:4 that talks about not knowing the deep things of Satan, what’s the correct chapter and verse?
Rev. 2:24.
Wheres the play list?
Wow. Very mature.. My post being removed. And yet you all claim to allow those who disagree with you?
Tennessee 😮
Sickening that on a topic like this you mock it by having ghosts and Jack o lanterns( both having occultic roots)..
Will not listen to anyone from Bethel!
Care to elaborate?
Bayyul 🤣
Jesus is not God he itself son of God not God the son
