Another great video and restoration, this one gave you a good run, it seems like the speaker you installed is better than the stock speaker, great job, I think the jvc 838 might be easier to restore, looking forward to the next video
Yes this one was a lot more trouble than I expected! I think if I did another one, I'd tackle it more like a Sharp GF-8080, and just de-solder a bunch of wires first. But you live and learn. The new speaker is actually nice and warm with a real thump, and I probably didn't do it justice in the video. In theory, I reckon the 838 will be easier, but the switching/electronics might be more complicated. I'm trying to work through some older videos this month (still really nice machines, but filmed before I moved into my workshop), so then it's all systems go with the big boomboxes 😄👍📻
