1978 AIWA TPR-950D Boombox Full Teardown and Repair

  • I bought this ancient boombox at a garage sale for $7 (they were asking for $15). It only partly worked when I got it home (tuner only, AM only, one speaker only, and no cassette deck). This is a complete teardown and repair, resulting in a lovely example of this iconic boombox.

    I bought one of these new as a teenager after a few hours in a hifi store demoing 8 or 9 different competitors.
    It wasn`t the loudest of flashiest but had the best sound.
    This is the first time I`ve seen inside one though.#
    I bought an excellent condition reone two years ago and had it serviced and I still use it daily.
    Fab build,fab sound and classy looking.

      I still have mine and consistently surprised by the sound quality also. Especially the line-in. Cheers

      Still can't believe the audio quality from this puppy. Def worth saving.
