    You said to eat it raw, but there is so much contradictory information out there, especially about oxalates in spinach. I mean I ate my salad every day with spinach & other veggies. Now I'm a little concerned. Oxalates and lactin are now totally in my salad. I feel as if no matter how many times I adapt to a healthy lifestyle, there is always someone out there that finds an issue what is recommended healthy. It's a never ending battle

      Agreed. Like I've been eating raw tomatoes for health, then I heard recently that it's best cooked. But honestly most of these foods are best raw, most are best either way.

      I think you have to eat an extreme amount of spinach before it prevents you from absorbing minerals etc. I say that from personal experience. I did become deathly ill and nutrient deficient - but when I tell you I ate a lot of spinach lol 😂 I would eat at least 40 ounces of spinach a day. An entire 16 oz pack in one sitting. I was addicted to it lol. It gave me so much energy and my workouts were amazing. My skin was beautiful and my heart and blood pressure were like a 19 year old. My body just felt so good I kept adding more and more - not realizing that it could ever negatively affect me. I’m just now getting back to normal with absorbing things but yeah. Very scary but you would have to seriously overdo it. Just stay well balanced and you’ll be fine. Most Normal people could never eat enough of any one fruit or veggie to experience the negative effects (unless you’re crazy like me lol).

      Eating it with dairy like fetta, cheese or cream will reduce the oxalic acid by binding with calcium in the digestive system, so It can pass through the body harmlessly. Otherwise it will bind with calcium in the blood (or even strip the bones) and deposit the calcium oxalate in the kidneys as kidney stones. Even blanching and draining helps if u eat it alot

      @@sydthegoat88 Is it fairly safe if I have spinach mixed in a Nutribullet mixer with milk?

    • @sydthegoat88
      @sydthegoat88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@budekins542 Possibly, foods like some berries etc (moderate to high oxalate) are traditionally eaten raw with cream. Once you hit it with the Nutribullet it becomes a highly processed product tho so the availability of everything in it is close to 100%, compared to way less than that just chewing it. So less is more with such a refined smoothie ;)

    I've been eating one serving of spinach every day (half a cup) for a long time now. To be honest, I don't like the taste, but I eat it for health reasons. I believe it's the reason I have good skin. As for kidney stones, I've never had one, but I do drink water often. Also, I'm not sure if depression is linked to diet, but for what it's worth, I've only been depressed once.

    Isn't the nutritional content of spinach highly dependant on the quality of the soil it was grown in?

    • @mustachesally4134
      @mustachesally4134 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main problem with nutritional content of vegetables is that it's nutrients aren't 100% accurate. It can have less (or more) of what it usually contains. It's also dependent on digestion and how much your body can take from those nutrients. Often times, the nutrients end up in your urine. So it doesn't matter about the soil, it's about how your body will digest those nutrients and how effective it will use those nutrients.

      He is forgetting that. While there are other foods high in oxalates, spinach is the worst offender with over 1000mg of oxalates per 100g. Not only that, but spinach tastes metallic. It tastes like a metal, and you can't do anything to remove that. Cooking doesn't reduce oxalates, and metallic taste will persist. Spinach should be throwed into shredding machine, and then into trash. I hate spinach!

    Enjoy your greens folks!!!! The best thing you could ever consume. No wonder the Bible book of Genesis highlighted its value to all creatures....
    Genesis 1:29,30
    Then God said: “Here I have given to you every seed-bearing plant that is on the entire earth and every tree with seed-bearing fruit. Let them serve as food for you. And to every wild animal of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving on the earth in which there is life, I have given all green vegetation for food.” And it was so
    No doubt these fruits and greens are amazing for us, as Jehovah God saw it to be very beneficial for humans to eat them. Keep indulging friends, they are a healthy choice gifted to our bodies by our creator......Enjoy!!!!

      Yes it is. They used to say canned stuff wasn't as good for you, but science has changed on it and so has the products used to make the cans. I think fresh or frozen is best but canned is good for you to

      Add some lemon to your smoothie. Alternately have lemon in water 1st thing in the morning, it's a good healthy way to start the day.
