  • Join me for a solo overnight trip out in Morgan Monroe state forest. Weather was a little warmer than its been, but some serious wind gusts through the area. Gave me a great chance to test the X-mid in wind and rain. Fair warning, when it started raining I didn’t have much else to do other than sit in the tent and talk to the camera! Even after editing, there is a bit of rambling, but that’s kind of my style. Overall was an awesome time, stayed dry and plenty warm, and had a great time. As always feel free to comment, and please give the video a like and consider subscribing for more!

    Great video! I purchased the Durston xmid 1P recently. Can't wait to get it out on trail. Little tip on the Toaks lid that you may already know, but if you pull the tab straight up and slide it over, it will stand up on it's own. Makes it easy to grab and remove the lid because it doesn't get hot

    I got the Durston 2 for Christmas and I’ve only spent a few winter nights in it but I love it so far. I’m looking forward to trying it out with my son.
    I’m waiting for the Kakwa 55 pack. It should be arriving in the next few weeks.

      Update, I ordered one right after this video, and have only taken it out once on the trail. As soon as we get cooler weather here in Florida, I’ll be back on the trail with this awesome tent!! 😅

    Good video. I like your pace.
    Hearing you’re going to smoke a cigar and drink a beer seemed completely reasonable. However, it was hearing that you’re making coffee at 6pm, I thought Dont Do That! 🤣
    The Peak Refuel Breakfast Skillet is probably the best breakfast out there. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a couple bucks more but worth it.

    If you’re on the hunt for a pack, Durston has a 55L coming out. That’s what I’m leaning towards. Just waiting for some reviews. Everyone loves the 40L it seems. I can’t imagine the big one being bad. He seems to have a knack for designing gear.

    Thanks for this video - always enjoy your work! Did you use the stakes supplied with the tent? I’ve had the same tent (V2) for a month, but haven’t had the time or weather to go to a park and pitch it. Looking forward to it though!

    I still have my 1st generation X-Mid 1P. Thought about updating to current Gen or even the pro, but honestly just can't get past the initial thought. It's just such a good tent. I may have to gift it to my son so I have a reason to replace it.

    I just bought the FLEXTAILGEAR Tiny Pump on Amanzon. Apparently, that's the only version without a built in camp light. Whoops! On the plus side, it weighs the same as my Big Agnes inflation sack.

    How you likin' that WILLIT sun shirt? I ask because I have the same in brown ( bad color choice, too dark). I think it could breath better and the hood slips around alot, but it dries fast. I use it as a base layer. I have been looking at Outdoor Vitals Altitude Sun hoodie.

    • @Beardedbackpacker
      @Beardedbackpacker  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the OV one now too, it is better lol. The willit one isn’t bad, but the OV one is thinner so it breathes and dries quicker, and the hood is much better. Worth the upgrade in my opinion!

    So I set up my X-mid 1P in the living room today. Unfortunately, I think it's too small. I felt claustrophobic! I'm checking with the company to see if I can exchange it for the 2P.

    • @Beardedbackpacker
      @Beardedbackpacker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure they’ll let you. I’m used to 1p tents so the bug netting being close didn’t bother me. If you’re used to 2p tents, that might be the better option. I’d still take it on a trip or at least outside where you can properly stake it out so you get the full feel of it.
