As a vegetarian, callaloo and cabbage are my favorite. I had calllaloo with roti for lunch yesterday! Some persons love it with salted cod fish but you really don't miss it when you add coconut oil. The flavors just pop!!!! Yours looks so delish!

i personally dont like tomatoes in my callaloo. I always use butter then add the garlic to saute in it. When I add the callaloo, i sprinkle with salt and black pepper, maybe add more butter and the minute it starts the look cooked i turn it off to allow the heat to cook it the remainder of the way. I hate boiled callaloo...also makes me feel like im losing the nutrients in it if it cooks too long! This vid made me wanna go cook some nowwwwww! Callaloo Soup or quiche!
good to hear your method! fascinating to me how many different ways to prepare it. Yesss al dente callaloo should retain more nutrients, but on the flip side maybe it'll be easier to digest when cooked softer. I try to accomplish an in-between :)
I've had it raw in smoothies but not in salads for instance. I think it may come off as too irony eaten raw in a salad. But that's just my take ..you may like it raw. Dress it like you would a kale salad.

I like callalou, but collards have more depth and flavor. More nutrition too.
