Just dropping a comment of appreciation! I'm an eastern snowboarder and going to Whistler on the 15th of April and looking at the trailmap is just confusing! So, thanks for putting these together because they are going to be invaluable to me as a first timer.
Thanks! I'm stoked you're finding it helpful. Give my website www.riseandalpine.com a read, it's loaded with some sweet guides and maps that will be helpful too.
@@riseandalpine nice! I will definitely check it out. If you are on the mountain between the 15th to 18th, just look for the orange snowboarder. I got an orange board and it spiraled from there with orange gear gifts.
I love this. You did all my favourite runs. I can't wait to go up soon. I love the Jersey Cream runs too. So many fun groomers on Blackcomb. I love the Glacier run right under the chair too - it's my little challenge of the day.
twist and shout for ripping. overbite for the bumps. on Whis lets see you rip off of franz chair down franz and lower franz to creek. straight shot get the legs burning.upper to lower peak to creak, straight shot again. hammer it.. Got to love the saddle on whis too.. gun barrels for the steep and deep, big timber for some speed and cant leave out dave murray downhill
Awesome video, definitely do one for whistler as well. I was on the hill same time as you. I did all those runs you did, absolutely epic. Didn’t manage to beat my 80mph this time round. But did get 58mph on 7th heaven, on the run you skied.
@@riseandalpine yeh absolute killer run. I was so lucky to have a run of bluebird days. I’m using Ski Tracks. I think there’s a small charge on the App Store. Yeah definitely man! Love watching your vids. Totally sold whistler/blackcomb for me. Left this morning, but will definitely be back. Might have to bring some hot sauce from the UK for you ;)
If you get an Insta360 one x2 camera, you can pair it with an Apple Watch, iPhone or GPS remote. It will overlay speed, elevation and slope angle data in the video. Might be fun 👍🏻
@@aconlin I recently was gifted an insta 360 and I'm currently figuring out the ins and outs. Didn't know it has a elevation/speed overlay thats so sick! I'll have to use it.
Thanks Daniel I really appreciate your support. Can't wait until I can get one of those newer go pros with hypersmooth. Hope to see you on the hill as well! Give me a shout if you ever hear/see me LOL 🤙🤙
Totally! Currently working on a glade skiing video. Off the top of my head you might want to try Lower Gear Jammer, Stoker Bumps or Raptors Ride! Raptors Ride has some trees but the slope angle is pretty mellow so its a good spot for learning trees and bumps. Have fun!
Thanks Wiley. I'll make one for Whistler when the storms settle down and the groomers whip back into shape. My favourite groomer on the Whistler side is Dave Murray Downhill!
Thanks for the video I'm returning to Whistler 10 years after instructing there. I wondered what the lift lines are like this season apart from the obvious pow days? THANKS!
Hey Tom, Great news that you're coming back for a ski! The lines have been super mellow this year. I was up this last Saturday and was skiing onto all the lifts! Weekdays have been ideal. I think the inability/risk for many to travel is keeping the hill quiet relative to other years.
Hey man, I’m heading out Whistler in a few weeks, I ski in Ontario so it’s a completely different world. I came here when I was 11 but now I’m 16 so I think I get some challenges in. I’ve ski raced so I’m pretty good on groomers(only thing we have), but was wondering the best runs or tips for trying in the trees or for the bowls. Thanks!
With a ski racing background you'll pick up tree and bowl skiing super quickly. The biggest difference for you will be the snow itself. Take it slow at first and I would recommend using smaller (Slalom) like turns and focusing on bouncing through them. Be really active, centred and balanced in your legs. As for trees... Dodge them like you do gates! Have fun on the hill Darcy!!
Thanks James! I'm wearing the Smith IOS with the chromapop lense. They are amazing in low light situations and have never fogged up on me in my 2 years of running them.
@@riseandalpine no problem I haven’t seen anyone showing the best places to ski the way you do. It would be good to show runs like ego bowl for less experienced skiers who don’t know the mountain. Keep it going
@@mikeylongboardscohen941 Great Idea. I couldn't agree more! Such a hard mountain to navigate for those who have never been. I'll definitely do a beginner/intermediate friendly Whistler video in the future.
@@riseandalpine keep up the great work. Maybe hit up some place’s you like to go or do after you rip it up. Would be cool to know what to do when we go up there to shred🤘🏽
By the way I m surprised you did not include Dave Murray downhill unless you focused this video only only on Blackomb 🧐 Nonetheless I very agree with you especially springboard to go down 😊
❤❤❤🎉🌸🎆Hello❤Warm wishes on New Year to all of our wonderful and very special friend and your family. ❤ ❤❤May you have a meaningful and successful year 2022 that brings you many joys and great big smiles! 😁❤😊🎆 😊❤💐🎊
But none of the runs you skied were actually groomed. The sad reality about WB is half an hour after the hills open all the groomed runs are skied out.
Grooming was a little wild this year with the lack of staff and snow during mid-season. It's always the play to be first up the gondola on a groomer day so you can snag some corduroy before it gets poached 😂 😂
As someone who lives on groomers, these recommendations are greatly appreciated. James/Rise & Alpine hits the nail on the head once again 🙌
Thrilled I can help out the Groomer Gang!!

Will do - just waiting for some clear conditions!
On Whistler it’s hard to beat Franz’s Run. Or, when it’s groomed, Peak to Creek. Tokum is a great cruiser too.
Oh man I love Tokum too. A Fresh Franz is killer but you got to get on it early before it turns into an ice rink 😂 😂 😂
Love this channel. Crushed flute main off a nice cornice last week thanks to your guide
Amazing! How was the snow?
Yeeha! Love this kind of video. Can you share some mogul runs? Especially not too steep ones that are good for practicing. Thanks a lot!

No problem Grace! Have fun :)

Unreal. You are going to have a blast. Let me know if you have any Q's before your trip!
smooth runs
My absolute favorite is (from top of Excelerator) is Honeycomb to Cruiser to Espresso.

Undercut and Freefall should be on this list if they ever frickin' groom them.
100%
Nothing seems to be groomed this season....
Can you do a peak to creek in under 5 mins? ✊🏻👍🏻

@@riseandalpine heck yeah
What was the name of the bumped trail at 11:30?
Davies Dervish.
You can see it from the Glacier Lodge and it's the best hot dogging run on the mountain!
Scratch that.... the run at 11:30 is Overbite. And then I cut to Davies Dervish.
Best bumps combo on the hill!
