- 6 Most Powerful Extinct Tiger Species
Tigers are the largest members of the cat family, and with that title comes some serious authority. These felines are renowned for their strength, power, and agility. However, not all tigers are created equal. Some tiger subspecies were significantly larger and more powerful than the ones we see today. That’s why, in today’s video, we will count down the 6 most powerful extinct tiger species.

Todays Siberian tigers are arguably the largest tiger sub soecies that ever lived. We should appreciate them while we still got them
No, the Ngandong Tiger was way bigger!!
@@Nick-ry4buBornean tiger was the largest tiger subspecies that ever lived.
@@Nick-ry4bu From the quick research I did on the Bornean Tiger it seems to be the largest at ~470kg, this specimen was found in 2019 and is said to be slightly smaller than the ones found in 2007.
@@slim7406wait what is the largest cat that lived before our age?
@@LittleFury-cw4ru Before our age? That'd be before 200,000 years ago, which was Smilodon Populator in weight, and possibly the Bornean Tiger in actual size.
Why are there still people who think Smilodon is a tiger😂??
smilidon is not saber tooth tiger
And Smilodon was the largest of the sabre toothed tiger species as there were other sabre toothed cats but people always think of Smilodon when they hear sabre tooth tiger because it was the largest and most popular or because they don’t know that there were many sabre toothed cats
Actually, members of the Smilodon genus are more correctly nicknamed "saber-toothed lions" because their behavior was far more similar to lions than tigers, but "saber-toothed lion" is still a misnomer as lions are in the Felinae subfamily, while Smilodon belongs to the subfamily Machairodontinae.
It's a fake animal
For the same reason people think men can get pregnant. They’re stupid.
Caspian Tigers were the ones who fought in the Roman Colosseum.
Ngandong tigers were like gigantic Bengal tigers and could have weighed an estimated 500 kilograms. that means they would win against any lion.
500 kg is too large for any big cat species. Bornean tiger is larger than Ngandong tiger and they are the largest tiger subspecies. Natodomeri lion are just as large as ngandong tiger and they could possibly win. A mosbach lion would destroy a ngandong tiger because it is larger and stronger.
@@MarieGoddess no, the Ngandong tiger was considered one of the largest of all cat species. therefore, the Ngandong Tiger would win easily.
@@matthijs7121
One of? So not THE largest, is what you're saying?
Yeah that's right
@@thalmoragent9344 yeah Smilodon populator is THE largest, but Ngandong Tiger > American Lion > Mosbach Lion
We should be more serious. We have lost already many animals. We all should raise our hands to save them.

@@nichhodge8503
Even the Smilodon had subspecies with the Smilodon Populator being the largest of them.
exactly.
@@BigBrotherTheWatcher1984 that’s basically what I was saying there was more than just one species and subspecies in the sabre toothed tiger/Smilodon species but most people think there was only one which was the largest Smilodon. It’s kind of like when you say Tyrannosaur people think of Tyrannosaurus Rex as it was the largest and last in the evolutionary chain before the large extinction event came and killed off all the dinosaurs. There were many other Tyrannosaurs in the subspecies living in different parts of the world like China where as Tyrannosaurus Rex came from North America and also had the biggest brain of all the dinosaurs (to our knowledge) with it’s eyes being in a different position to say Allosaurus and other large carnivores giving it excellent vision. In Jurassic Park the guy says about the Tyrannosaurus Rex “don’t move as it’s vision is based on movement and it can’t see you if you don’t move” which palaeontologists say now that’s incorrect as it had excellent vision and unlike Allosaurus and other large carnivores Tyrannosaurus Rex had good sense of depth and perception and could see it’s prey even if it was stood still where as Allosaurus and other were like horses and rabbits when it came to vision with poor sense of depth and perception. And if the large extinction event didn’t happen then the dinosaurs could possibly be alive today (ice age would’ve been tough on some but they weren’t all cold blooded a lot were warm blooded) and the Tyrannosaurus Rex would’ve kept evolving into an even more scary predator maybe like the Indominus Rex from Jurassic World (Tyrannosaurus Rex is my favourite dinosaur and has been since I was 3 but on the Jurassic Park game on the PS4/PS5 the Indominus Rex is my favourite with it’s black and blue colour)
@BigBrotherTheWatcher1984, Pantherinae is not a valid subfamily, all living cat species belong to just one subfamily, which is Felinae, making Felinae the only cat subfamily alive today, just like all living dog species belong to just one subfamily, which is Caninae, making Caninae the only dog subfamily alive today, two subfamilies of both cats and dogs were recognized, but are now extinct, the two subfamilies of cats that are now extinct are Proailurinae and Machairodontinae and the two subfamilies of dogs that are now extinct are Hesperocyoninae and Borophaginae, all living cat species belong to the subfamily Felinae because Felinae is the only cat subfamily alive today and cats are the sole extant family of the superfamily Feloidea because cats are not closely related to any other family of feliform carnivorans alive today, just like how all living dog species belong to the subfamily Caninae because Caninae is the only dog subfamily alive today and dogs are the sole extant family of the superfamily Canoidea.
The Caspian Tiger looks the coolest out of those.

FYI :
* Ngandong tiger skull was first found in Ngandong (some remote area in central java island indonesia), but the most completed of its skeleton found in southern of china which is the area closest to south east asia countries (indonesia include)
* Trinil tiger was also first found in trinil (eastern java indonesia)
* Borneo is an big island in today indonesia
* South east asia islands was once a single big continent called "sunda land" (indonesia island like sumatra, java, bali and borneo was once sunda land before the sea start raising and those islands got separated)
* Why there is a lot of tiger subspecies found in south east asia (sunda land) probably because of environment and climate is more warm and most of the preys love the warmer climate (tropical)
* Indonesia have many of the rarest animals subspecies like clouded leopard (neofelis diardi different with asian clouded neofelis nebulosa), javan rhino, javan tiger, javan leopard, sumatran tiger, sumatran elephant, orang utan, bali tiger, komodo and many more

Excellent video! And I’m happy to say that you have got the weights of the big cats right. However, I’ll echo what many others will tell you - sabertooth cats belong to a completely different group of cats than tigers & the two are not closely related.
You are correct, they are also called saber-toothed tigers!! This is just a nickname attached to it!! Because of the great resemblance to a tiger!! But all types of saber-fanged cats are distantly related to the tigers and lions known to us !!
So majestic
This species are majestic......
We still have the Tiger in the Woods.
The ngandong tige is actually the largest subspecies of tiger and its weight is not 350 kg it is 350+kg or maybe 400 they can can grow larger and its larger than any modern tiger and probably larger than mosbach and smilodon populator
Yes.
Ngangdong tiger are the second largest subspecies of tiger. Bornean tiger are the largest subspecies of tiger. Mosbach lion and smilodon populator were larger than ngangdong tiger.
Yes ngandong tiger can grows to 400kg 900lb

I’ve learned 2 things about my favourite cat species the Tiger in this video, first that I thought the Caspian Tiger was the last species to go extinct that we had photos of and secondly that the Wanhsien Tiger was larger than the Siberian Tiger 🐅 (edit: sorry three things I learned and that’s Tigers have longer upper canine teeth than all other large cat species like Jaguars 🐆 Leopards 🐆 and Lions 🦁)
@nichhodge8503, there is just one species of tiger, which would be Uncia tigris, the tiger has twelve subspecies, the most basal of the twelve tiger subspecies is the recently extinct Caspian Tiger (Uncia tigris virgata), the second most basal of the twelve tiger subspecies is the currently living Bengal Tiger (Uncia tigris tigris), the two most derived groups of tigers are the Uncia tigris altaica group (North Asian Tigers) that contains the currently living South China Tiger (Uncia tigris amoyensis), the prehistoric Wanhsien Tiger (Uncia tigris acutidens), and the currently living Siberian Tiger (Uncia tigris altaica) and the Uncia tigris sondaica group (Southeast Asian Tigers) that contains the currently living Indochinese Tiger (Uncia tigris corbetti), the currently living Malayan Tiger (Uncia tigris jacksoni), the currently living Sumatran Tiger (Uncia tigris sumatrae), the prehistoric Ngandong Tiger (Uncia tigris soloensis), the recently extinct Javan Tiger (Uncia tigris sondaica), the prehistoric Trinil Tiger (Uncia tigris trinilensis), and the prehistoric Bali Tiger (Uncia tigris balica).

I want to know one thing. saber toothed Tiger's 11 inch teeth. But when he opens his mouth, there is no space left. How does he bite and kill animal ? I think it is fake animal.

They have skulls with teeth though....maybe it could open its mouth like a fox can, strangely wide.

Sabre-tooth Tiger - not a true tiger. It's a Sabre-tooth Cat

Sabertooths are different species. Smiladon are smaller than sabers. I think there are 3 more sabertooth cats
The sabertooth isn't even in the same genus as the tiger.
India had 100,000 tigers living there in 1900. As a result, the ancient Indian subcontinent may have had the largest tiger population. I believe you may have missed ancient Indian tigers.
The sabre toothed tiger wasnt really a tiger. They say its more closely related to hyenas
@petermurage8685, actually, you are incorrect, hyenas are more closely related to civets and mongooses, while saber-toothed cats are classified in the family Felidae along with all other cats, in fact, cats are the most different and distantly related from all the extant feliform carnivorans, the hyenas, aardwolf, civets, mongooses, malagasy carnivorans, genets, oyans, linsangs, and feripaka all belong to the infraorder Crocutopsia, which contains all extant feliforms aside from cats, this is due to their more superficially caniform-like characteristics.
Sabre toothed tigers are cats, while
Hyenas arent.
@swalihmm, correct, all extant feliforms other than cats look nothing like cats and instead look more like caniforms, which is why all extant feliforms other than cats belong to the infraorder Crocutopsia, while cats are the sole extant family of the infraorder Aeluropsia.
@@indyreno2933 Actually, hyenas are more closely related to cats than dogs. Just a fun fact.
@blaisepayzdexter7944, true, but I didn't say anything about hyenas being more closely related to dogs, I officially said hyenas, aardwolves, civets, mongooses, malagasy carnivorans, genets, oyans, linsangs, and feripakas all look like caniforms, which is why they are classified together in the infraorder Crocutopsia, which contains many extant feliforms, but not cats (family Felidae), Crocutopsia means "hyena-faced ones", this grouping is defined by the more superficially caniform-like characteristics seen in all of these feliform species, cats (family Felidae) are the only extant family of the infraorder Aeluropsia, which means "cat-faced ones".

Tigers are very capable of killing any type of bear, including lions, because the tiger's body composition is dominated by muscle tissue, so tigers have excellent strength, even better than all lions. When a bear is ignored by a tiger, it is a sign that the tiger simply does not want to kill the bear and not because it does not have the ability to kill the bear.

you forgot Tony the tiger, ''there grreattt!'' for those going through the comments, I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God will not allow sinners in heaven; in His presence, because He is holy. so, God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is severe and just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps:
1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost.
2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell).
3. believe that Jesus (who is God) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins.
4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of your faith and self-righteous works).
5. pray to God NOW that you're accepting Christ's free gift of salvation because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🥵😈
6. and to be a disciple, tell people about Jesus, read the bible, go to church regularly to know God's will for your life.
Frosties are great, your god is mythology.
