Thanks man. My mechanic retired moved to get away from have to fix everyone's stuff. It seemed like peopled were constantly trying to screw him over, not picking up their stuff etc. He did rebuild my dad's1983 GL1100 that was sitting in the garage forever. That thing is all original, like it rolled off the show room floor. Hopefully I can find a new starter. It wont be original that has been rebuilt, but oh well.

I cleaned mine really well and installed new brushes. It’s been fine for 30 years.
Whatd ya find out? Did the starter bench test correctly?
