  • Hey Guys! Octane Restorations back here with another Motorcycle restoration! Today we have a 1988 Goldwing GL1500 in the shop that has been sitting for over a decade. This is actually a motorcycle I bought for myself and plan on riding after I get it running! Today's video is the 14th step in that process, installing the starter. Thanks for watching, please consider liking and subscribing if you enjoyed the video!

I enjoy all your GL1500 content very much! One thought, many of us are trying to imagine our own GL1500 restoration and in our imagination our bikes end up spotlessly clean and working perfectly. You certainly have the working perfectly part going but our imaginations are not helped with the other part. Kind of leaves us hanging. Still, love the content, can't wait for more.

Oh believe me it'll get a good cleaning! This is not the last time it is gonna get disassembled sadly, but it does get cleaned! Part of me wants it cleaned now, but the other half of me wants to keep it dirty for the detailing reveal you know? Thank you!

I just bought an 88 and it sat for a couple years. So far I’ve changed the fuel and and oil but can’t seem to get it to start. I figured it wouldn’t be so easy, what else could I possible be needing to change , fix or replace. The battery seems good but since it was sitting for some time without the bike running, I’m not sure if it has enough juice to power it on. The lights all come on and it starts to crank but one turn over. Any ideas anyone? It would be greatly appreciated.

If it sat, most likely it is the fuel system causing the problem. I would spray a little starter fluid inside the air filter, that will test compression and spark at the same time. If it tries to start, then you know it is a fuel issue, which will most likely be the carburetor, fuel pump, or fuel petcock!

@@octanerestorations Thank you thank you! I’m going to try that out, I figured the carbs would probably be in the mix somewhere. Much appreciated.

I do like the sped- up video. I think you're on to something.

¡Utilicé un mazo de goma y una palanca para sacarlo suavemente!
