Good job!! I have the same lathe and it did the same exact thing! Plus, I turned a piece last night that had several inclusions but I hate to give up on a pretty piece of wood. By the time I got through turning out the exclusions, I ended up making a small ring holder. We turners must adapt and conquer!! I and my wife always enjoy your videos!!
Hi Jay, Please don't feel defeated you still have a lovely looking bowl with markings that nature intended to be there and be found. When I have turned similar pieces I have used Howards Feed N Wax which gives a really nice finish and is easier to use when you have inclusions. Great looking bowl Jay. Take care mate. Cheers, Huw
Hey Huw, Did you read my description or was it that obvious in the video, that I felt defeated. I don't think I gave this wood the best opportunity to showcase its beauty. The wood and I just couldn't get on the same level I guess. The inside of the bowl is really where I feel the failure is, but if it's filled with candy no one will know! LOL Thanks for the kind words. Take care and cheers, Jay
@@movingchips Hi Jay, I always read the descriptions on video I watch. It gives me an idea of what will happen. If you haven't tried it do try Howards, you won't be disappointed. PS I wish people would read mine as I get questions and the answers are already in the description. LOL
@@WoodenItBeNice I was starting to wonder if anyone read my descriptions. Since you read them I will keep doing it. And I will give Howards are try. Thanks
@@movingchips I actually have a extra switch laguna sent me. I have since sold the 12/16 for a 18/36. I think I still have it if I do I will stick it in the mail and send it to you.
@@lancem5965 First let me say I'm jealous of the 18/36! Secondly... thank you if you still have to switch. I'm sure that will fail completely sooner or later.
That came out great. The inclusions definitely adds to its character.
That is certainly one way to put... character. Thanks
Beautiful bowl, Jay. You did the best you could given the challenge. Great job. Take care. 😊
It was a challenge. Thank you

I guess I'm sharing the difficulties we face from time to time. I'm glad you and your wife enjoy the videos. Thank you
Nice save! It turned out great. That's part of the excitement when turning... not sure what lies below the surface.
Very true. Thank you
Cool chunk of wood. Love the inclusions, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! :)
I like the bark enclosures. Great job
Thank you!
Killer looking bowl brother! 👍🏻👍🏻
Very true... it almost killed me! LOL Thanks

@@movingchips it's not a high shine, more of a sheen but I love it.
Gremlins running around the shop. Hand ‘‘em a broom!
Gremlins! Broom! Not a bad idea! LOL
Very no em piece of wood. Well done.
Thank you very much!
Great video! Nice bowl!
Thanks 👍
You should laguna mine was doing that and they sent me a new reverse switch
I'm thinking a cleaning, but yeah I may have to make a call.

Very nice looking wood 🪵
I like the shape you gave this piece
It really showcases the wood.
Perhaps you need to change that switch?
That was strange
Yeah very strange. Maintenance maybe required. Thank you
