This dog is just immature. A light switch of excitement will turn on one day out of no where. He's well bred, it will definitely come.

Looks like he may have lost a tooth in the process. Fun watching him develop.

Easiest way is to lessen the excitement an make a more serious tone in your voice as you say bring.. Works wonders.

Have you ever dealt with resource guarding pup? I have a mild case of resource guarding (freezing and growling when touched) and I’m working on it. I wonder if you have any tips regarding this issue. I’m not hunting, but I’m fairly certain my pup (5 month old SM) wouldn’t give the bird back 😂
He only guards stuff he can eat and finds of high value. He is slowly getting better, but some stuff is just irresistible
P.S. love your channel, helped me a lot to understand my dogs hunting mentality

I have a 3 month old gsp, and started training the day she came home at 8 weeks. She has progressed very well, will sit on or off leash, will stay from at least 100 yards until she is called, she is heeling fairly well (thanks to yalls easy lead) and I’ve started her on steadiness which she is taking to well. My question though is how do I go about teaching her to sit when she is away from me, like on a whistle when handling. She will sit on a whistle blast if she is right next to me, but how do I teach her to sit away from me. She may be too young, not sure, but I’ve tried getting her to sit while she is out in front of me but she either doesn’t listen, or comes to me and sits if I give her light stimulation or vibrate from the collar.

YAWA Question: I have a 10 month old lab/gsp mix who will only retrieve balls or bumpers in water. Any bumper or larger object out of water he will pin down and attempt to shred (which he also does with wings). What is the best way to prevent this behavior without turning him off to retrieving?

What if your dog doesn’t have a problem retrieving but tends to come back with bird to left or right? Is not force fetched. Thanks!

One common problem with pups is they want to play keep away and not return with the bumper. I like to start pups retrieving in a hallway that way pup is conditioned to naturally come back with the bumper: th-cam.com/video/PdFj9v-clUo/w-d-xo.html
After they have a solid habit of coming directly back with the bumper, then we move outside: th-cam.com/video/2C9tlmG-6r0/w-d-xo.html

our choc lab gunner is 4.5 months old and will retrieve stuff but is "chompy" and wont drop on demand. we hoped he would have a softer mouth when trying to indroduce a dove, but nope...he tore it up and got possesive about not wanting to give it back. Any tips for better/more consistent "drops"...thanks!

You still got to teach it to bring it back lol, it doesn't come hardwired into them.
