I have been using this th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU as a handy reference book. I read through the book and enjoyed the little glimpses of examples. I love that this author believes in rescue dogs. The tips and training has been invaluable and gave me moments of...."how simple why didn't I think of it" so it's been a great tool. Thank you!

Learning so much from your channel! Thank you! My Lab/Heeler is almost 8 weeks, and she's already soaking up some of this stuff like a champ. Do you subscribe to the 'they either have it, or they don't' theory on retrieving, or do you think any dog can learn? I'm seeing more of the herding side of her so far.

Can I start with the clicker, then later verbal marker? A clicker is one more thing to remember to bring and hold on to while training.

    I love your videos.
Question. I’m training my first gsp. She’s brilliant. In one of your videos Kat is calling Rogue’s name. This one you’re just using “here”. Which is better? Is there a preference? Does it matter? Lol.
Personally I like using the name, especially in the case of working with other dogs. However, I also send her with her name.
    Looking for your input.
    Thank you

Hey guys amazing content! Its been amazingly helpful! But I need help!
My puppy is an Aussie Shepard - born on a farm and I grabbed him at 8 weeks old. Ive had him for about 1.5 weeks and hes knocking it out of the park - he has bed, kennel, sit, lay down and come (here) nailed - however when it comes to "here" he doesnt just lead with his nose - he goes after my hand and starts chewing etc. I know puppies at 8 weeks are teeth but tyhis is behavior id like to eliminate.
Problem is - if I try to hold back until he only does his nose he starts to bark and lose his patience and ultimately starts to disengage entirely.
How can go about removing this unwanted habit so hes only leading with his nose? Or is this something that eventually goes away on its own?

How many times a day do you utilize the clicker training? Is it only morning feed and night feed? I have a 8 week old yellow lab and trying to go along with the video series and so far he know what the clicker means at breakfast and dinner and we’ve been working on sit. I’m just wondering if I need to do it more that just twice a day. @StandingStoneKennels

Just a quick question for you. How do I train my Labrador to eat from his bowl only. The last one I had used to sniff food stuff that was thrown near bins and munched on it. This caused him to have an upset tummy. So for the next one I want him to have his food from his bowl only and doesn't eat food that is outside his bowl.
    Regards

Just recently bought a puppy he’s 8 weeks old I have a couple questions first: im just now starting basic training is it okay to start with sit if he responds better and it seems to get his focus on the clicker more than here? And what are your thoughts on golden retriever/ Labrador my puppies parents had decent bloodlines what should my expectations be?

Love the videos, we are almost 1 week in to owning our first lab here in the uk. I have been watching all of your videos with Sprig and Fox and very keen to train our Lab (oakley) in a similar way. However, I have been trying to 'charge the clicker' all week to which there is little to no response. I have assessed my timing and fairly confident I have that right. Is it possible that some dogs do not respond to a clicker? or should I keep persevering with it?
We have taught him 'sit' just in a conventional training method, but that was easy because he just wants to sit all the time anyway!!!
Would be great to hear your advice, Thankyou!

Our Lab pup is 8 weeks old. We brought him home at 7 weeks. He is great with the clicker, and actually already touches my hand and sits. But when we go outside, he will not come to us, and isn't very interested in following us around the property. We have tried with and w/out a leash. I have thrown a training dummy a few times, and he isn't very interested in that either. He prefers to stay behind us when we do get him moving. In the house, he is very active and playful. Am I expecting too much from him outside at this stage? This is my 3rd lab, and the others were always energetic outside and retrieved from the start. Thank you for any information.

We use the 35” x 23” pvc beds in the house and we add the slip covers for a less industrial look. In the kennel we actually use the next size up which is the 40” x 25” aluminum beds.
