An edit you should add is you don't need to skip time at all. You can base at the raid camp next to the thunderjaw run to the camp and immediately run back it will respawn all machines respawn when you get far enough away. The bandit camp has a few machines to gather scraps from too

Found an alternative way, could take a bit longer but it rewards near 6k exp. There's a Tremortusk west of Hidden Ember( you go there as part of the main story) North of the Tremortusk is a camp site. The Tremortusk has two cannons on its back like the thunderjaw but it has an explosive underside that deals massive damage when you hit it. Video was very helpful as I didn't know enemies could respawn so quick.

It’s the best!!! And I don’t even think you need to fast forward time. If you go far enough towards Basecamp turn around you’ll see the thunder jar there again

what is important is not the main story line quest reach for the stars. BECUASE YOU CANT EVEN GET TO THIS AREA TILL AFTER YOU PASS BARREN LIGHT!!! Therefore you have to progress the story till you finish the embassy quest then you can get pass barren light. As for the reach for the stars quest it is automacticly finished as you progress becuase it is the intro quest of the game. So by time you even get to this part it will already be done makeing reach for the stars errelivent ps took me 20 mintues trying to find a way around barren light before i came to find out you cant. and your right it can be done after all kinds of differnt main quest or side quest, as long as you got past the embassy quest then its wide open Pss You don't have to go back to the camp to progress time just walk far enough away u can't see the site no more then turn around and go back for it to respawn On a side note u could put this info in another video if u want too To anyone that pre-ordered the game who are experiencing game freezes on the arena put both the legacy Nora spear and the legacy Nora outfit in ur stash do not have them equipped or in inventory as long as there in ur stash game should run fine
ok! so not only has this Not been patched away on 6/11/2022, it may have been made more beneficial. you dont even need to fast forward time. kill the thunderjaw, take your bird back to the firepit, you dont even need to get off the bird, you can turn around and itll have respawned ready to go. in some cases the second canon is still on the ground ready for you to use too, fully loaded.

So question can I change the difficulty to story do this as much as I want then just go back and change it to hard and continue the main story on that difficulty? Im new to this game and learning. Appreciate any help

actually for faster respawn you can just fast travel to rest camp and head back to the thunderjaw directly

I find that just leaving the area of the machine you are farming is enough to respawn it. You don’t have to advance time.

Correction: if you turn on customizable difficulty, you can turn on easy loot which allows you to destroy a machine without destroying the components.

There is literally no reason you would ever want to do this. I am so over levelled in this game I've had to turn the difficulty up!
