For those needing wire , blaze , sparkler . Stack up on potions , traps and then drop all from inventory . Pick them up and then drop them all again . This duplicates them so when you have max , duplicate one more time and then sell to merchant . Then go back pick up the ones you left and do it again . Do it next to the merchant so every time you go back to the merchant you’re receiving 500-1000 shards ( depending on size of bag because you’ll dup more ). Then buy whatever you need .

What you need to do is: 1) Go to any merchant, and stand close by. 2) open inventory, and go to traps and potions. 3) drop all the items in your potions and traps. 4) close inventory, and pick up all the items you’ve just dropped. 5) repeat steps 2 and 3. 6) when you close your inventory after dropping them all again, they’ve duplicated. Keep repeating steps 2 to 5. Merchants have infinite shards to repeat till you get fed up.

Duplicate one more time and pick up the dupes Sell to merchant . Pick up the left over dupes from before and repeat. After selling for around 10min you'll receive around 1000 shards depending on your storage . this is very useful for ultra hard because collecting and buying resources is a nightmare
The machines might not respawn alive, but their dead corpses definitely respawn which is why the loot also does. The game loads new machine corpses each time you arrive in the area.
@@palermodpr I don't think it respawns dead bodies in general. It only respawns those who are necessary for a quest. And not the quests that let you kill any machine, the quests that need you to kill specific ones.
November 27 2021, still works fine. Two things: 1. If you kill all the behemoths and shell-walkers in the convoy in different spots, they will be lying in perfect raw as you come back to reloot them; 2. This loot respawn trick works as well without a mount, but it's faster to go back and forth using a mount, for sure. Thank you Elkjaer TV for the amazing tip!
@@vahngaming7107As long as your quest with behemoth cables is in progress, you can do whatever you want instead. Just go back to the quest location, do the u-turn around the tree again and the mods will reappear. BTW you can loot everything from the behemoths including all the 9 cables needed for the quest itself, but don`t go to Petra and keep relooting :)
I can't believe I totally missed Free Heap in my first run. I only learned of it after I met Petra during the final battle and was like "Who the hell is this? Am I supposed to know her?"
What about saving it turning the console off and turning the console back on and loading that save file will it still be on the ground or everything back to normal or gone?
I'm late to this party so my apologies if this has already been mentioned, but regardless of where you kill the behemoths originally (mine got quite separated), after the first respawn the behemoth corpses will always be lined up right behind each other as in the video. Convenient!
As of Jan 2023 this still works. I didn’t really need it, but it does work. I just scrapped anything green or blue and collected until I was full.. Pretty cool.
Nice one, thanks for this tip. It's still working on PS4 (October 2020). As mentioned by someone earlier, if the mods aren't there when you've been away doing something else in the game, take the run/walk to the tree and back from the fallen Behemoth and all the goodies will reappear.
Can’t believe I just tried this at the end of Ng+. This would have been AMAZING to have found early on. I would have just spent a full day maxing mods and shards. Still after like 200 hrs of play, I’m occasionally finding better mods here. Got a 30% spear damage mod. Thought it only went to 26 :)
I'm playing the game in Sept 2023 and by God this still works! Also, it doesn't matter what choice you take (going solo or along with the hunters) you can kill them and then try the hack and it will still give you all the loot again and again.
If you go to the Embrace, the scrapper site in the far west there is two piles of ancient debris that holds purple mods. Loot the piles, save your game at the nearby campfire and run back and repeat. It works indefinitely.
Still working on March 11, 2022. On any difficulty, NG+ or not. Still haven’t found a second spear coil but hot damn it’s good to have lying around for when you need to get more shards/resources. Leave them lying there as you continue playing and just fast travel back and run around the tree again as he states and they’ll refresh their loot. Thanks Elk!
It is extremely easy though... Story difficulty is even easier than easy mode is practically god mode more or less. Is impossible to die unless you make a mistake like jumping from a Clift or jumping into a bottomless pit in the cauldrons. Im doing story difficulty to prepare again for another ultra hard run. Shards will be useful to buy materials and stuff.
Flip89 Use tearblast arrows to pop the casing off the blaze or chillwater canisters on both its sides. Use a fire arrow to shoot the blaze and use freeze arrows for the chillwater. If the bird is flapping around too much, use a ropecaster to tie it down. If you dont have ropecaster, use tearblast arrows to break the stabilizers on its wings to force it to the ground.
FOR ALL THE HUNTERS - This is the REAL DEAL-BREAKER to complete the game more comfortably in higher difficult settings. it's trully the best hack and farming spot in all game so thank you very much Elkjaer for explaining everything so clearly, it works 100% in July of 2022. My tips for everyone is: you only need to spend time and ammunition in ONE combact and you will get infinite purple mods for the main quest, infinite shards to buy all the purple outfits and weapons and infinite resources (if you lack something that this type of machines don't have like blaze,etc you can use the infinite shards to buy them from a merchant) and yes, you can grap the special cables from the Behemoths that it will NOT end the respawn. Use the nearest merchant to sell the loot and modifications that you don't need for extra shards and more space in you inventory. I also recomend to never complete this errand until the very end of the game and repeat it multiple times before starting a new game plus. Doing this will able you to farm shards to buy the adept version of all weapons and outfits sooner in the new save. To unlock the Hammer and Steel errand, you need to complete the City of the Sun main quest in Meridian, and the Heap of Trouble side quest in Free Heap. Do this as soon as possible! Enjoy and good huntings! :)
as of 10/8/21 4 a.m. this still works. one thing to note is if u fast travel to somewhere from the immediate area where you looted the dead bodies and then go back to the place, you have to reset the loot again by running to the tree or an equal distance in any other direction from the bodies.
Having never played the game on any setting lower than, "Hard", my jaw about hit the floor when the whole damn herd just...died 😂. It got me laughing because it was so unexpected.
Since I can't do this anymore. I just farm the area where you battle two Thunderjaws. With full Freeze and Hard point arrows. Easy kill. You can farm for everything there too with the exception of metal burn. If you need wire the lance horns are there to farm from.
Confirmed still works as of Jan 21st 2022. Worth noting that no matter where you kill the machines, they will respawn closer together for easy looting.
This is amazing, i lost my saved file with 100+ hours in and 12+ bows each with a specific purpose with mods fitting that purpose and it was a pain farming all of these again
Can confirm that this works in the PS5 remaster as of 11/20/2024. Edit: For those who are new to this exploit, the only important thing is that you don't finish the errand and don't talk to the other two hunters. You can fast travel to sell some of the stuff you've farmed, but when you fast travel back you will still need to run away from the area and come back to trigger the respawn. You can't just teleport back and forth to trigger the respawn. You'll always need to run far enough away (on foot or mount) and run back.
Another way is to get the cauldron to be able to override from the thunderjaw, then go to the thunderjaw site, override one, and make him kill the other one then, you’ll be able to get three purple modifications every time!
I did this yesterday, 15/4/2024. It still works like a charm! I don't have a mount, so I had to run up and down but it was worth it. I spent sometime there but I left with 3 modifications for my spear (later, when I will be able to use them), lots of the rest modifications all with the higher stats. I only got weapon modifications, as I have the shield weaver armor, so I don't need modifications for armor. The best think is that I left from there rich in shards (as I had to disassemble materials I didn't need to clear space in my inventory. Plus, a ton of wires!!! Thank you man, not all heroes wear capes 😁
Did this yesterday for about an hour, I had just a few % upgrade nothing major, so decided good enough and completed the quest and moved on. Just didn't have the patience to wait for anything super amazing to show up, and made the game start to feel like work instead of fun. I am only planning to beat the game on Normal and then move on to Forbidden West, so I am sure I am more than ready to go beat the game.
In general I do not subscribe to channels since few I did subscribed to ended up disappointing me. I watched your video on getting Shield Weawer early, followed instructions and managed to obtain it in more or less 45 minutes. I was surprised, pleasantly, with..well everything. Step by step, simple, no BS it was like I was sitting and watching my friend showing me something. Now I watched this video and I am still very early in my play through and are yet to reach Free Heap (legitimately) I can’t wait to try this out. In short I somehow think I will not go wrong this time so I am clicking that SUB button with one big KUDOS to you and just keep doing what you do.
Still works today as of 10/7/2022, top rare purple Mods + 500 shards each time you loot 😀 Also top of the ridge to the left there's a campfire, you can go there manual save and can log out and can always spawn back, run around tree and continue loot farming
it is WORKING on PC on sep 12 2020. Fastest way to loot this is better than going after thunderjaw cuz u have to kill it everytime. there is a fire near that tree in the video, fast travel to that but u have to go to that tree in the video, cross and go back to that location again and loot again!
Late comment, but thank you so much for this tip senpai! This allowed me to get my second 30% spear coil plus other good stuff. I got the first 30% coil from farming Thunderjaws until I found out about this. I was quite lucky because the only notable ones were one 29% and another 30%, and I probably looted/sold over 600 coils. I also got 200k+ shards from looting/selling/trading mysterious boxes...did have to ride my mount around a LOT though lol Make sure to trade all the crystal/luminous braidings you loot with the merchant in Meridian - the boxes you get always yield better shards than selling the braiding itself, especially the Hunter Big Game Box. This worked exactly as shown in the video on PC patch 1.07 and I took advantage of it in early November 2020 I believe. I haven't done it again since then (didn't need to) and now PC patch is at 1.08. I bet it's still working though as I saw a comment from someone saying that he reported this to the devs prior to me giving it a try and it was still working. It's safe to say that they're letting players exploit this even though they're aware of it. I mean, people who are doing this obviously love the game, and why would the devs discourage them from playing more and more?
i watched this video last year . last week i installed it ; just reached this quest . for last 30min i've been collecting those purple thingi ; filled those 70 coil slot all purple now ; also got 17 crystal braiding ; bro, u made me rich , now i have 20k shareds after selling unwanted stuff. thanks bro, it still works till 2023.
From what I’ve tested. As long as you never finish the quest the machines should still be there. All you have to do is circle that tree and the loot spawns back every time. You can finish other quests, save and close the game, load back up. doesn’t matter long as you never finish the ‘Hammer and Steel’ quest the loot and machines should always be there.
This worked perfectly until I did some more missions and when I went back to get some mods for my new bow there was no loot anymore. I may aswell just turn the quest in now:/
Odd. I did this many times at different time/mission intervals on pc. Did 10 or so runs, left and did some missions, came back, repeat. I did this 4-5 times. I still wasn't near the end of the game. Maybe if you start the endgame chain and Petra moves to Meridian, the quest fails or enemies despawn; not sure.
I also confirmed that you can go to the campsite just across the creek and save if you want to stop for while and come back to it. I spent about 8 hours yesterday at this spot.
I skipped over the "and because this is story mode and ng+ I will obliterate everybody" and went to try this out while still on my first playthrough. Turned out to be a nice way to learn how to fight these things xD
Working as of April 28, 2021. This is also a really good metal shards farm/other resources farm besides mods. Each behemoth gives around 100-150 shards. Thanks a lot for this ^^
Just got into the game myself. Surprised this still works. Would be surprised if there is a better metal shard site too. Quickly found myself having to prioritize purple mods.
I was lucky enough to get two 30% spear mods and two 15 percent stealth mods. Ive been trying to get a third stealth mod and its driving me nuts. I still havent tried this method though, looks good
1st May 2024 - Two things to confirm. First, this still works (I am playing on Playstation). Second, you can fast travel away to sell excess items and repeat the running back and forth when you return. The bodies are still there and the loot respawns the same way.
works like a charm. upgraded all weapons and can now one shot a scrapper on ultra hard, not to mention the damage i do to others. note this is on normal playthrough, not ng+ so lesser weapon dmg over all. ;)
Great find. BTW, you can also exit the game and come back to the area anytime time you want as long as you don't finish the errand... they still be lying there dead. Still works on ps4.

Best guide. Not only purple mod you can also get infinite metal shards. You get around 400-500 per run.

I didn't know that you could get spear damage mods that good! I have two 28% spear damage mods if memory serves me right. I gotta check this out.
somehow my third purple spear damage mod was 30%, sadly I have not yet found a stealth mod over 13%

Another way is to get the cauldron to be able to override from the thunderjaw, then go to the thunderjaw site, override one, and make him kill the other one then, you’ll be able to get three purple modifications every time!

I did this yesterday, 15/4/2024. It still works like a charm! I don't have a mount, so I had to run up and down but it was worth it. I spent sometime there but I left with 3 modifications for my spear (later, when I will be able to use them), lots of the rest modifications all with the higher stats. I only got weapon modifications, as I have the shield weaver armor, so I don't need modifications for armor. The best think is that I left from there rich in shards (as I had to disassemble materials I didn't need to clear space in my inventory. Plus, a ton of wires!!! Thank you man, not all heroes wear capes 😁

Did this yesterday for about an hour, I had just a few % upgrade nothing major, so decided good enough and completed the quest and moved on. Just didn't have the patience to wait for anything super amazing to show up, and made the game start to feel like work instead of fun. I am only planning to beat the game on Normal and then move on to Forbidden West, so I am sure I am more than ready to go beat the game.

It's work. You can fast travel, do another missions, as long as you don't finish that quest... You can always go back and loot mods.

I bet I'm not the only one who will try this trick when HZD comes to PC next weekend.
In general I do not subscribe to channels since few I did subscribed to ended up disappointing me.
I watched your video on getting Shield Weawer early, followed instructions and managed to obtain it in more or less 45 minutes. I was surprised, pleasantly, with..well everything. Step by step, simple, no BS it was like I was sitting and watching my friend showing me something.
Now I watched this video and I am still very early in my play through and are yet to reach Free Heap (legitimately) I can’t wait to try this out.
In short I somehow think I will not go wrong this time so I am clicking that SUB button with one big KUDOS to you and just keep doing what you do.
Same - getting the armor early was the best thing I ever did. It's literally OP and will save you many times over.

Still works today as of 10/7/2022, top rare purple Mods + 500 shards each time you loot 😀 Also top of the ridge to the left there's a campfire, you can go there manual save and can log out and can always spawn back, run around tree and continue loot farming

this is better than going after thunderjaw cuz u have to kill it everytime.
there is a fire near that tree in the video, fast travel to that but u have to go to that tree in the video, cross and go back to that location again and loot again!

This allowed me to get my second 30% spear coil plus other good stuff. I got the first 30% coil from farming Thunderjaws until I found out about this. I was quite lucky because the only notable ones were one 29% and another 30%, and I probably looted/sold over 600 coils. I also got 200k+ shards from looting/selling/trading mysterious boxes...did have to ride my mount around a LOT though lol Make sure to trade all the crystal/luminous braidings you loot with the merchant in Meridian - the boxes you get always yield better shards than selling the braiding itself, especially the Hunter Big Game Box.
This worked exactly as shown in the video on PC patch 1.07 and I took advantage of it in early November 2020 I believe. I haven't done it again since then (didn't need to) and now PC patch is at 1.08. I bet it's still working though as I saw a comment from someone saying that he reported this to the devs prior to me giving it a try and it was still working. It's safe to say that they're letting players exploit this even though they're aware of it. I mean, people who are doing this obviously love the game, and why would the devs discourage them from playing more and more?

From what I’ve tested. As long as you never finish the quest the machines should still be there. All you have to do is circle that tree and the loot spawns back every time. You can finish other quests, save and close the game, load back up. doesn’t matter long as you never finish the ‘Hammer and Steel’ quest the loot and machines should always be there.

This worked perfectly until I did some more missions and when I went back to get some mods for my new bow there was no loot anymore. I may aswell just turn the quest in now:/
I confirm this, once you start this don't go somewhere else, farm and leave only when you think you had enough
Odd. I did this many times at different time/mission intervals on pc. Did 10 or so runs, left and did some missions, came back, repeat. I did this 4-5 times. I still wasn't near the end of the game. Maybe if you start the endgame chain and Petra moves to Meridian, the quest fails or enemies despawn; not sure.
What arrow and damage were used? I cant seem to make it happen
I also confirmed that you can go to the campsite just across the creek and save if you want to stop for while and come back to it. I spent about 8 hours yesterday at this spot.
I skipped over the "and because this is story mode and ng+ I will obliterate everybody" and went to try this out while still on my first playthrough.
Turned out to be a nice way to learn how to fight these things xD
u dont have to kill again, they will be lying on the ground with everything! loot again without killing!

Working as of April 28, 2021. This is also a really good metal shards farm/other resources farm besides mods. Each behemoth gives around 100-150 shards. Thanks a lot for this ^^

I have a 28% spear damage coil and a 26% after 335 hours into the game :\
I was lucky enough to get two 30% spear mods and two 15 percent stealth mods. Ive been trying to get a third stealth mod and its driving me nuts. I still havent tried this method though, looks good
@@executioner_ecgbert884 spear mods are very rare you are lucky ı have over 100 hours in this game and still only have a %24 spear mod

1st May 2024 - Two things to confirm.
First, this still works (I am playing on Playstation).
Second, you can fast travel away to sell excess items and repeat the running back and forth when you return. The bodies are still there and the loot respawns the same way.

works like a charm. upgraded all weapons and can now one shot a scrapper on ultra hard, not to mention the damage i do to others. note this is on normal playthrough, not ng+ so lesser weapon dmg over all. ;)

Yes the corpses will stay there until you talk to Petra back at Free Heap.

Great find. BTW, you can also exit the game and come back to the area anytime time you want as long as you don't finish the errand... they still be lying there dead. Still works on ps4.
