You can actually get both farming and XP at the same time if you set your difficulty to custom. You can then set easy loot on and then have enemy difficulty higher, which I believe will increase the XP gain from killing enemies.
I cleared out the bandit camp next to this camp and if you fast travel from the bandit camp to the camp where you can sit to progress time with your stash and whatnot, it will automatically respawn.

I loving it too, but I would love a QOL feature that made looting quicker, like in Ghost of Tsushima. I just hate how Aloy is forced to come to a complete stop even when on mounts in order to grab some friggin berries!
1. Hunt the Thunder jaw in night 2. Freeze the thunder jaw, because it doubles the damage. 3. Farm/grind this till you get the amount of loot you want.
Keep in mind, notching 2 or 3 arrows is good for elemental build-up but every extra arrow you knock gives you a damage reduction. For example: 2 arrows = -20% dmg and 3 arrows = -30% dmg
Its because there not trophies related to difficulty also ability to swap on the fly You can farm your stuff on story and switch to hard or very hard without conscience
Another easy way without fight is buying and selling whisper bow at barren light like infinate number of times. But you need to complete a side mission to unlock it.
Pro-tip for gaining more of the item. Turn on easy loot and still aim at detaching the item. With easy loot on and detaching the item you get double the item. One from the pick up and one from the machine carcass. So if you want money faster do this. If you mess up and kill without detaching the item you will then only get 1 but succeed a detaching an item you then get rewarded with two.
Awesome, didn't realise you could boost by skipping time. Tip though, if you head into the nearby rebel Outpost, there is a Corruptor gun, which does good damage on it, and you can sit in the Outpost under the archway, it can't enter the Outpost there, and plenty of cover!
It may be shameful, but at about level 22, I did the custom difficulty, where I kept everything at normal, but I turned on quick loot. There was just too many times where I killed a machine before I could blast off an important component, then it was lost! I’m really glad they put in that option though!
@@sethfeldpausch4337 Keep easy loot on and still try to go for knocking the item off. You will then get double of that item. You get one from picking up the knocked off item and you get one from the machine carcass. So you can get two of them now. So if you mess up you only get 1 however if you succeed you get two now.
You don't need to pass time. You can head over to the Widemaw site that's right across from there and farm both. They respawn if you get far enough in each site.
Bought this game the other day and I'm telling you what I'm absolutely glad that I did I bought it ,,I bought dying light 2 immediately as soon as it turned 12:03 February the 4th and there is so many soundbugs and glitches I had to put it in my memory for now I'll bring it back out once it's patched up and working fine but this game right here is a 🤙🤙🤙🤙 masterpiece it is immensely beautiful and satisfying I put this video here and my watch later when I get back on the game I want to map this out and try it for myself I started off this game playing on very hard immediately 💯❤️
I beat the game already and I can tell you it is probably best to progress the story to right before the final mission if you are lookimg to explore everything. Many mechanics are locked behind special hurdles that require items gained from story. And you unlock something that makes traversal 1000x faster. I'm still enjoying exploring in postgame.
Tails are really hard to hit, even in concentration they'll be whipping around really quick, hard to track. I prefer to shoot the tails on Thunderjaws and tiderippers first thing with a tear arrow from stealth, once it alerts it'll be whipping around.
One thing I think this game missed is having Spiderman style fast travel sequences. Imagine hitting fast travel and Aloy hitches a ride on a Stormbird over the terrain with the polecaster shown in a short clip. Or it shows her gliding across the plains on the glider, or hitching a ride on a tremortusk or riding a cable car. Just something other than just a loading screen.
I don't know about the PS4, but I'm on PS5 and load times are Ludacris, if you fast travel it will load between 2 to 3 seconds. I guess that's why they didn't bother with animations for the load screens. Compared to Zero Dawn on my PS4 Pro loads times we're around 20 to 40 seconds, also my pro I upgraded with a SSD, so my load times on Zero Dawn were a bit faster. But I do get what your saying.
@@chuckz253 Yeah it's not much different on the PS4 where I'm playing it. Much faster than HZD. Still a small clip of Aloy traveling like Spidey could fit in and since the load times are do fast, as soon as the clip ends you can get back seamlessly into the game. Wishful thinking at this point but it would have been nice and fun.
Tried farming at this spot on hard and I didn't need to progress time, just use the work bench then stash chest and he was back. After second or third time it was a Alpha and it used the discs a lot and climbed on the one hill so it could hit me and stayed at a distance a lot. On easy to farm more he didn't do any of that
I tend to get a certain distance away (about 100-200 steps roughly) and it respawns. It's a distance trigger, not a time trigger. Works in any direction on any machine - up, down, sideways...
Great tip, played it on normal mode, I'm at level 24, but it did take me some time to bring it down (tearing off the parts is pretty easy and fast but killing it entirely is slow). Gonna use the Disk thrower after I've torn off the parts!
Are you crazy!?!?!? I LOVE CHEESE 🧀 😅😅😅 This was a great tip…this thing has been kicking my ass all week…I was literally at work thinking…I’m a try that mountain 😄😄 then came across your video…I’m at level 16…
I went head on with a hunter bow with regular arrows shot off his guns and rocked him. It takes like one minute on Story Mode. Then run all the way through the rebel outpost to the opposite side and pass the fence then turn around and the Thunderjaw will respawn. After defeating him run down the hill next to the road towards the water but not all the way because you don’t have to go that far then go back to the camp where the Shards will respawn every time. Rinse and repeat.
What I found useful was using frost hunter arrows on the chillwater canisters on his stomach. If you hit it right, they explode and it turns him into a brittle state, and then you can use a tear weapon to tear off his parts pretty easily. It's even easier if you max out the Part-breaking valour surge under the machine override stat. I took the Thunderjaw out in like 3 minutes
Lovely to listen to him talk I will do it mainly for the machine muscle cos I'm burning through that at insane rate cos I love the traps. So alittle cheesey farming will be right up my street Thanks for the video 😁
You don’t have to progress time, you can run usually just out of sight , probably running to the shelter is far enough, maybe not, but it will respond without time progression. You can also save and restart save.
Great tip!! Thank you! I needed this! Currently doing a walkthrough of this game on my channel and needed to level and upgrade fast to get back to main missions :)
Sell machine muscles!?! Those are used for high lvl arrows aren't they? I'll keep those thx. Also, everything you can't carry goes to storage so it's not like they go to waste if you have 50 on you already.
Im playing the hell out of this game, 24 hour bursts at a time. I can't stop playing. The only thing thats weird is its like they just kept making the first game, pretty much the exact game.
I'd love some hard numbers vis-a-vis sold components vs ammo crafted. You might make a decent amount of shards selling all the thunderjaw components, but how many shards do you spend on crafting the incredible number of arrows it takes to kill the thing? Do you really end up making that much with ammo considered? Does dropping to story difficulty affect this enough to make a difference? I'm not implying anything. I'm genuinely curious. I love me some cheeeeeese lol.
So I tested it on story difficulty with easy loot turned on. I crafted all my ammo (I have all the quivers upgraded to max level,) and went in with 2420 shards to my name. I had to replace two 4-packs of tear precision arrows for 40 shards, a 10-pack of acid arrows for 10 shards, and a 15-pack of hunter arrows for 1 shard (total 51 shards spent to fight the thunderjaw) taking my starting total down to 2369. I'm not gonna list every component I received from the fight, but I made sure to get the tail and blast as many other parts off as I could for the shards. I made a list as I looted so I could price my loot out accurately. The thunderjaw gave me 703 shards worth of loot (including the 78 shards it dropped as shards.) That means I made a net return of 652 shards for taking down the thunderjaw in story mode with easy loot turned on. Good to know!
Easiest way I found to get shards was hunting the crustaceans by the southwest tide ripper. Fluorescent shells are worth 125 shards each. I can end up with thousands of shards quick.
I'm ps5, but I'll agree whole-heartedly! This game is so beautiful! I love games like this! My top games in human history for consoles: Infamous 2, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Horizon II: Forbidden West! If anyone knows these games well and has a new game like these for me to try, reply to this! So far, I'm told: Cyberpunk 2077, pro-latest patch & Ghost of Tsushima! Is this really true?
Feels that leveling up for this game way more faster than the previous sequel ngl. Even I play on Hard mode difficulty, I still can get level up for 2-3 times by killing Heavyweight machines like Thunderjaw, Slitherfang, Tideripper etc
There is another Thunderjaw site near a tallneck. It's with a few other machines, and if you make a beeline from the campfire nearby you can get to the thunderjaw. If you stand on the rocks here and shoot a bomb on thinderjaw, it'll come to you, almost, and you can use short range weapons on it from here. I prefer that site more to this one with drone, because in that one, thunder jaw can't attack you at all. Getting hit at this site can throw you off the mountain peak here, but that won't happen with the tallneck one. Mind you, thunderjaw is between the campfire and tallneck. If you approach from other direction, there are no mountains to hunt thunder jaw from top of. Also, if you just autosave on campfire 100 👣 away, it'll still respawn machine. No need to progress time.
Just a tip but u dont have to wait time to respawn the tunderjaw just interact with the work bench long enough for it to load the list of options and back out and the thunderjaw will have respawned just did it like 3 times and it worked all 3 times
Great Video, just one thing though, you don't have to run all the way back to the shelter and progress time for the thunderjaw to respawn, you have only have to run maybe half way and it'll respawn. and if you change it to night (like someone also said) it will be an Apex Thunderjaw.
I found a spot where you can pick off two Tumericks and they can’t really kill you. A lucky shot every so often. But you can heal up easily. The only downside is it is not too close to any fire pit.
**Cough** Custom Difficulty. What happens if you set "Damage to Aloy" and "Enemy Health" to Very Hard, but have "Easy Loot" set to On? Is the experience gain still treated as Story Difficulty? And if not, which of the first two options actually effects XP?
Unless there’s been a big change from HZD-and I haven’t tested it at all-XP is the same at every difficulty level. Certainly, they made some other big changes, some that don’t make sense from a realism standpoint (I’m looking at you, limited traps and tripwires), but I hadn’t heard that they changed that.
@@allensnyder4641 Thank you!! Actually traps etc were limited in zero dawn too. If you had placed too many they would disappear after a short time ... I once set up 20 trip wires, 36 traps and started to place proximity bombs ... I turned around to see most of them were gone and more continued to disappear 😭 I tried to get the attention of the machine and by the time it reached me, everything but 12 traps/bombs were gone ... then I died xD
If you crouch in the grass up there, the likelihood that it’ll use the rockets is much higher. Well, that’s what I did at least. When I realized I could do this, it has been my go to ever since.
the driller spikes are the best. they tear through components and knock em off so well... never found one that was higher level than blue but it worked so well.. continuous DOT basically till the thing falls off.

I farm this area all the time for different reasons... I mostly just stay on top of the mesa and use a Glowblast bow to knock off stuff... but any good bow will do the same... I go for the rocket launchers right away, so they can't be used against me... also if you knock off the amour plates on the top of the head you can expose the red brain case... the damage for hits in that area are in the several thousand range... it goes up by thousands if you have a better bow and more damaging arrows... Something weird happens if you expose the brain case... the Thunderjaw will turn it's body away and raise it's head shooting it's lasers up into the sky... which gives you a beautiful shot at hitting the brain case again...
I use the Part Breaker valor surge to get even more shards and you can buy the Salted Haunch meal at Scalding Spear for more valor and also if you're feeling spendy the Skirmisher armor to maximize valor. Go up there with an Apex and you can do the surge like 3-4 times, picking him apart with hunter arrows. Blastpaste, piercing spikes, volatile sludge, shards, ingots...its all yours.
After reaching level 50 on the first game it was was very fun to farm thundherjaw and traps were the best way to start the fight and blast sling were for the last kill
If u go to the rebel post near this location (after clearing it) u will find corrupter shards and can collect them unlimited every time u fast travel and back
You can just turn on Easy Loot in Custom difficulty to make the components harvestable without detaching them. You don't have to play on Story/Easy if you want a challenge AND components. So you can have Hard enemy damage and Hard damage taken but still have Easy Loot.
However with easy loot on in custom difficulty if you still aim at knocking them off you will get double the item. One for the knock off and one from the carcass. Where as if you just kill it without detaching it you just get 1.
You don’t even need to go to the shelter, just go past that bandit camp right next to the spawn location and then go to the end of it and the thunderjaw should respawn. Or go towards the shelter and turn around a little bit before it and boom it’s there
A good guide but, you should progress time until night so it doesn't spawn a normal thunderjaw but it spawns an Apex Thunderjaw, it's stronger but drops loot and you also do not need to progress time just quick save
One thing to test, Apex Variants spawn more at night and are supposed to spawn more often on higher difficulty settings. I'll be testing this myself once I get further into the game. But would be a great informative video If you could dial in the info.
Awsome video can I just outright kill it without breaking off the parts and still make the same amount of money?? Cause I STILL have to turn around and sell the collected parts correct???
you dont have to progress time or even go back to the camp fire. You only have3 to walk up to the grass at the plane wing and turn around. you can see the thunderjaw respawn. You just have to go a far enough distance to respawn the TJ. You can also farm the cannons until you have enough to obliterate him every time. Just grab a launcher, drop it where you want to engage the TJ, lure the TJ to where you dropped all you cannons and blast away, collect the 2 cannons every time, circle around the wing and do it again. at 6:33 you can see the wing ahead. Id like to know how or if you can sell goods from the stash ?

Literally just found this out on my own and hopped over to say exactly this! Can verify, any interaction with the fire resets Thunderjaw.
You don’t even need to quick save. It respawns when you go a certain distance
@@herpiederpieherpie I killed it like 7-9 times last night and I can tell you from a single miss-click, you’re best off quick saving. Also, there’s a random chance it spawns an alpha!
I discovered this on my own and all I needed to was reach the wooden floor then I turn around back to the Thunderjaw site and while I’m doing that I’m already using Triple Notch to load more arrows so by the time I get there I’m focused on targeting the disc launchers and using them against it
You can actually get both farming and XP at the same time if you set your difficulty to custom. You can then set easy loot on and then have enemy difficulty higher, which I believe will increase the XP gain from killing enemies.
Is this confirmed?
I cleared out the bandit camp next to this camp and if you fast travel from the bandit camp to the camp where you can sit to progress time with your stash and whatnot, it will automatically respawn.
Also loot the corruptor corpses every time you go to the bandit camp for some extra shards.
Horizon Forbidden West is Superb Game Just finished playing an absolutely amazing story and gameplay.
Overall Game Rating - 4.5/5
Storyline- 5/5
Free-Roam Gameplay- 4/5
Combat Gameplay- 4/5
Cinematic- 5/5
Character Development- 4.5/5
I'll agree with everything except the story. That was 3/5 for me
What's your scores for AC Odyssey?

The killed my guy in the story fam 😪
I loving it too, but I would love a QOL feature that made looting quicker, like in Ghost of Tsushima. I just hate how Aloy is forced to come to a complete stop even when on mounts in order to grab some friggin berries!
1. Hunt the Thunder jaw in night
2. Freeze the thunder jaw, because it doubles the damage.
3. Farm/grind this till you get the amount of loot you want.
I found that I didn't even have to go all the way back to camp and the thunder jaw already spawned back Making this super easy to farm thx !👍🏽
Keep in mind, notching 2 or 3 arrows is good for elemental build-up but every extra arrow you knock gives you a damage reduction. For example:
2 arrows = -20% dmg and 3 arrows = -30% dmg
I love how every video of "insane damage, best farm" etc for this game are all done on the easiest difficulties
Its because there not trophies related to difficulty also ability to swap on the fly
You can farm your stuff on story and switch to hard or very hard without conscience
@@corocsat8469 Ong just to get a couple specific good weapons
Except the guy who has the 19k one hit record. He's on very hard setting.
@Mia Kay change difficulty setting to custom. Then it will appear.
Awesome, didn't realise you could boost by skipping time.
Tip though, if you head into the nearby rebel Outpost, there is a Corruptor gun, which does good damage on it, and you can sit in the Outpost under the archway, it can't enter the Outpost there, and plenty of cover!
You don't have to do it on Story, there is also a custom difficulty in which you can select the loot option
@@densetsu4286 oh that’s cool. I enjoy shooting stuff off. But if you can double the loot then excellent. I’m offf to try that right now!
@@densetsu4286 That sounds like a glitch ! lol good for us though
@@densetsu4286 really ? does it actually work to get double the lot
You don't need to pass time. You can head over to the Widemaw site that's right across from there and farm both. They respawn if you get far enough in each site.
It’s faster to do the thunder jaw site
@@elchaxss619 what?😂
Thanks for this tipp. Absolutely loved it to farm the thunderjaw in the first game and now its even better. Love this game
Bought this game the other day and I'm telling you what I'm absolutely glad that I did I bought it ,,I bought dying light 2 immediately as soon as it turned 12:03 February the 4th and there is so many soundbugs and glitches I had to put it in my memory for now I'll bring it back out once it's patched up and working fine but this game right here is a 🤙🤙🤙🤙 masterpiece it is immensely beautiful and satisfying I put this video here and my watch later when I get back on the game I want to map this out and try it for myself I started off this game playing on very hard immediately 💯❤️
longest introduction to a video in the history of youtube
I don’t blame you, this game is freaking beautiful. I’m taking my time with it before I go to the main mission.
I got this and Elden ring juggling, my free time is booked
@@zzzz0zzzz how is that game ?🤔
Good to have ol' Taggy back. Missed those framing guides.
Tails are really hard to hit, even in concentration they'll be whipping around really quick, hard to track. I prefer to shoot the tails on Thunderjaws and tiderippers first thing with a tear arrow from stealth, once it alerts it'll be whipping around.
Very nice!! This is EXACTLY what i needed!!
Once again, the old rule of battle becomes an axiom:
"Don't do it, Thunderjaw. I have the high ground!"
Thank you Tagback!
I recently got horizon forbidden west about 5 days ago and thank you for the tips!
Great tip, played it on normal mode, I'm at level 24, but it did take me some time to bring it down (tearing off the parts is pretty easy and fast but killing it entirely is slow). Gonna use the Disk thrower after I've torn off the parts!
Are you crazy!?!?!? I LOVE CHEESE 🧀 😅😅😅
This was a great tip…this thing has been kicking my ass all week…I was literally at work thinking…I’m a try that mountain 😄😄 then came across your video…I’m at level 16…
Great video for those of us who aren’t savvy players and need a LITTLE edge to get ahead. Thx
Can't wait to pick this up next week! So excited!
put it on your CC and get it now...pay it off next week.
Was it worth it?
@@brownbeastoftheleaf3215 the game is heavenly it is def worth it
I went head on with a hunter bow with regular arrows shot off his guns and rocked him.
Was wondering if there was another one of these. Great video mate.
Lovely to listen to him talk
I will do it mainly for the machine muscle cos I'm burning through that at insane rate cos I love the traps.
So alittle cheesey farming will be right up my street
Thanks for the video 😁
Is not cheesy. Is a game and this is what some players like. 👏
You don’t have to progress time, you can run usually just out of sight , probably running to the shelter is far enough, maybe not, but it will respond without time progression. You can also save and restart save.
Appreciate the efforts tag! I hope the wifi/internet situation continues to get better! Love ya brother!
new internet getting installed now!
Great tip!! Thank you! I needed this! Currently doing a walkthrough of this game on my channel and needed to level and upgrade fast to get back to main missions :)
can we take a second to appreciate Aloys walk animation 😏
Sell machine muscles!?! Those are used for high lvl arrows aren't they? I'll keep those thx. Also, everything you can't carry goes to storage so it's not like they go to waste if you have 50 on you already.
Im playing the hell out of this game, 24 hour bursts at a time. I can't stop playing. The only thing thats weird is its like they just kept making the first game, pretty much the exact game.
I keep saying this is a really great Zelda series
The thunderjaw gave me 703 shards worth of loot (including the 78 shards it dropped as shards.)
That means I made a net return of 652 shards for taking down the thunderjaw in story mode with easy loot turned on.
That’s actually super helpful!
Especially the story mode tip. I really need materials
This is exactly how I fought it my first time. Didn't think about farming it. Thanks.
Feels that leveling up for this game way more faster than the previous sequel ngl. Even I play on Hard mode difficulty, I still can get level up for 2-3 times by killing Heavyweight machines like Thunderjaw, Slitherfang, Tideripper etc
Great video bro! Thanks! I was wondering where the Best farming place was. So far this looks like the Best one! 😎👌🏾
Was wondering how long it would take for someone to find a Thunderjaw farm. Debating if I wanna farm this after farming the one in HZD for so long
Nice video thanks. Im always looking for places like this in games like this...Dark Souls ect
You’re the true Meridian savior!, thanks for this!
I did this, after i killed it, i went to the hill near campfire 🔥, and turn around and it respawn no need to quick save or change time.
that is true respawn will near camp,i just inform too
**Cough** Custom Difficulty. What happens if you set "Damage to Aloy" and "Enemy Health" to Very Hard, but have "Easy Loot" set to On? Is the experience gain still treated as Story Difficulty? And if not, which of the first two options actually effects XP?
I’ll test that tomorrow. Had the same idea
@@Azaktzu please share 😇
@@Azaktzu I‘d like to know too please
Very helpful.. thanks dude 😊
Wow many thanks for your Hints i have just started in this game 👍👍
If you crouch in the grass up there, the likelihood that it’ll use the rockets is much higher. Well, that’s what I did at least. When I realized I could do this, it has been my go to ever since.
Sweet I need this to upgrade! Thanks!
the driller spikes are the best. they tear through components and knock em off so well... never found one that was higher level than blue but it worked so well.. continuous DOT basically till the thing falls off.
Great work buddy honestly they probably did put it there on purpose when you look back at the first game I feel like farming was a huge part of that game because the enemies would always respawn so I kinda think they did the same thing here no matter what your getting xp 👍
That’s every open world game with loot
@@SuperZombiepimp I mean I honestly believe that this game should have had new game plus I hope they will add it I mean single player story driven games that should be the standard now I mean it's been in development for 5 years they have done an excellent job but I hope they add new game plus I'd definitely play it again 👍

@@SuperZombiepimp there's been virtually none. Every game is going to have SOME. But the fact that this game hasn't had any consistent game breaking issues is spectacular.
hello there. subbed to you as I saw this video recommended on my channel :) gonna check out ur other guides. and from what i read on other comments, im very interested now :) plus we're both playing Forbidden West. keep it up :)
The easiest way to get shards is to kill a lot of mammoths and plunder their tusks. I collected 100 tusks and got 10,000 shards.
I got this game when it first dropped and I just started playing it. Having a damn blast
"Sweet baby Jesus" made me choke 😂😂😂
I wish my uncle was still alive to see this game....he wudda loved it
Running in circles and killing crabs & lobsters is way faster if you just need shards
After reaching level 50 on the first game it was was very fun to farm thundherjaw and traps were the best way to start the fight and blast sling were for the last kill
If u go to the rebel post near this location (after clearing it) u will find corrupter shards and can collect them unlimited every time u fast travel and back
And fast travel is super fast on this game. The load time barely 3 seconds for me to teleport across the map.
Thank you! I don’t mind farming but I can’t do it for too long. I didn’t know about this option, gonna try it later.
That's is awesome thanks gonna have to check this out
You don’t even need to go to the shelter, just go past that bandit camp right next to the spawn location and then go to the end of it and the thunderjaw should respawn. Or go towards the shelter and turn around a little bit before it and boom it’s there
A good guide but, you should progress time until night so it doesn't spawn a normal thunderjaw but it spawns an Apex Thunderjaw, it's stronger but drops loot and you also do not need to progress time just quick save
One thing to test,
Apex Variants spawn more at night and are supposed to spawn more often on higher difficulty settings.
I'll be testing this myself once I get further into the game. But would be a great informative video If you could dial in the info.
It’s already been confirmed, that’s exactly how it works
Thanks for the video.
For real.... salute for saying "clapped" in your videos 🤣🤣😂😂
pretty sure they put that high point right there for the drone, not to farm the thunderjaw, could be wrong
This is great. Thank you for the tip.
Awsome video can I just outright kill it without breaking off the parts and still make the same amount of money?? Cause I STILL have to turn around and sell the collected parts correct???
I'm so glad its a thunderjaw I just got this new armor that uses thunderjaw parts for upgrades
you dont have to progress time or even go back to the camp fire.
Thanks for the vid. I noticed there weren’t 10 million little yellow x’s on the rocks to show you where to climb…is that just a ps4 thing? (I’m a ps4 user)
