On the old black and white TV show "The Rifleman," said hero is stuck with a pistol, instead on his 30-30 Winchester, so he takes a piece of wood and makes a "stock," to get the sights as far out from his eyes as he can. Of course is works, and well...
I got a Red Ryder for X-Mas one year,it even had built in "ricochet" sound and a feather hanging off of the barrel.

You brought back my childhood memory of my first daisy in 1966. Amazing that i still have it and shoot it. BB guns have come such a long way. Great video!

My great grandpa still owns his red ryder its super old I think it still works
@@user-fc1wh5id6pSince he did not respond, I asked my dad. He was born in 78. When he was a kid they were 40 bucks. Surprisingly they have not gone up because of Bidenomics. But I would say at that time they were about half. My dads dad was born in 44 but he’s dead so I don’t know exactly but I know at that time they were actually expensive ate time.
That shot at 20 yards was truly impressive considering that these Daisy bb guns are smoothbore and very low powered
They are smoothbores but will shoot thru the same hole.

@@reasonableraisin3366 considering they shoot at 350 fps the drop is high. But also, considering they're smoothbore, there's no spinning and no stability, also bbs aren't exactly the most aerodynamic projectiles.

This was the first BB gun I ever had and I had so much fun with that thing! Lackluster to me know power wise but will always be a special place in my heart for that thing!
Fun video. I'm 74 years old and grew up on a small dairy farm in Indiana. My brother and I shot countless sparrows, starlings and pigeons from our barns. I always had a bb gun or pellet pistol handy. Keep shooting.
I am 76 years old. When I was 12 I HAD A DAISY BB GUN. Same lever action as you have. Warning, don't accidently fire the gun with the lever opem as it will cut your fingers badly. We always shot sparrows at about 15 to 20 yards also. Kept it well oiled and by pulling the barrel out we would lighten up just a little the part that holds the single bb ready to shoot. Not sure if they still make them the same,

I had the red ryder growing up. What a load of fun I had with it.
That thing isn't too bad. I picked one up the good things about it is.. it does the trick for certain situations and it's quiet. And won't damage structures too badly

I actually use this exact rifle to depredate rats in my mom’s backyard. Mines modified with a stiffer spring and modified air tube i got off ebay. Its now pushing a little over 400fps. I also customized it a bit with a fiber optic sight and a custom shorty stock since this thing is too small to shoulder anyways. Next mod will be a sliding spring block so it cocks upwards but compresses the spring on the down stroke because right now, the stiffer spring makes it exhausting to load after a while.

I killed 3 starlings today with my pcp air rifle we just moved to the country and man there are so many flocks of starlings its crazy early in the winter I saw zero birds but now im seeing like 5 starlings in one flock and there are a ton of flocks of starlings

What I did to make bb gun more acetate was I replaced og stock with red Ryder stock

I have one of the Daisy Buck’s I’ve used for years, it’s actually quite more powerful that the Daisy Red Rider; maybe I got a good Buck, and a weak Red Rider. Regardless tho, I’ve taken many pests out with both, and I honestly prefer the Buck cause it’s smaller, and packs a punch with copperhead BB’s😆

Heya! Just to let others know In the comments; although this guy is able to kill sparrows with a red ryder, I recommend using something with a higher muzzle velocity like the powerline 880 in order to ensure a painless death.
I agree, the 880 is a 50 yd bird gun all day.

Have you ever tried muzzle loading a small steel nail into the bb rifle? It will pierce through stuff the bbs won't because of the sharp tip, plus no one knows it was shot off an airgun. Example: If you punch a tire with a pellet or a bb everyone will be looking for the culprit airgun, but a steel nail? They will just think they drove over it, an airgun will be the last thing they will imagine. 🔥💪🏻😎👍🏻🔥

Try a Daisy powerline 415. it's a 500fps bb pistol that is very lethal to any animal smaller than a cubic foot

Wow, what memories! I had one as a teenager and I remember throwing bread out the window and shooting sparrows that came to eat. I got really good at it.. so good that my elderly neighbor started complaining about all the dead birds in his yard. So I went to a factory nearby and shot at rats who just shrugged it off! So I went back to shooting sparrows. Wasn't hungry enough to eat em though!
