I have a 5kw inverter in my van. It's ran everything I've plugged into it. I use the stock 140A alternator and 4-100AH batteries. It's worth the $. I use it daily, but also plan to use it in place of a generator at home if the power goes out. I already have generators, but they're noisy and the van can idle a long time I'm sure on it's 30 gallon tank.
Do you have to keep the van idle while operating your appliances? I have a need to power a 7000 watts appliance from my van and the van comes with 4 Motorcraft® Tested Tough® MAX BXT-65-850 batteries. What capacity inverter would you recommend?
A good ground in your vehicle is the welded body or frame, frame being preferable. Kudos for removing the paint on the cabinet and venting the battery a lot of people would not have done either.
It would be nice to see your schematic or something just like it. I want to install power invert er in my truck. My intentions are to use some power tools, laptops, and charging phones, power tool battery charging and maybe coffee maker. I'm a subscriber now.
Worth testing, perhaps by observing bubbles in a container of water during charging (inconclusive if negative, conclusive if present) since your vent system terminates lower than the battery and that the tubes are large enough to effectively evacuate the area? For a similar reason that you specified large gauge cables (less resistance), your H2 should be in a large H2-compatible tube and connect to a sealed battery enclosure aka vented battery box. The vent should remain above or at least at the same level of the top of the battery since hydrogen is lighter than air.
A fuse does not generate power. Your fuse size is determined by wire gauge and anticipated amp draw. The fuse will pop before your wires melt and cause a fire. Please consult your local pro...🧐🤨
To be fair, im a terrible speaker at explaining things and he probably choked up. In my mind I know what I mean but things come out wrong. Im sure he meant well but yeah fuses dont generate anything.
In both of my service vehicles. I had a professional stereo company run the wiring to a back up battery. And in both units all my work lights are directly connected to the secondary battery. No need to turn the inverter when I want lights. I use a 2000 watt pure sine wave in both that can run all 3 key machines at the same time if needed. I can see the main difference when a pro runs the wiring vs an amateur. If I had a way of posting pics I would.
Wayne !!!! that video was GREAT !!!! I have to install a converter into my truck to run an airless paint sprayer so I can spray deer blinds. Now I can do it and I think I will install the 1500 just in case I need to use it on something else. And the video was FINE.... a little shake is good for you.
how did you tie in the extra battery? can't quite see the wire set up...I don't do keys but I do construction and this is exactly what I need..thanks in advance
What you're talking about is a kill switch. That's the device that cuts off the electrical power from the main battery, to the external one. It's $20 for a generic switch that you can get from pepboys.
I suppose you were originally running the system off the engine battery and recharging the engine battery by running the vehicle engine right? And how long will both batteries last while running the ac, air compressor and key machine without running the engine?t
I woul like to know if you have to have the vehicle motor running to make last the battery live or all this is just the battery along and how long it las . Because i have one and i have to keep running the vehicles motor to avoid the battery get dead.
Good set up... I've got 2 questions: 1- Is your vehicle ON while you use the power? 2- could you have run the AC on by itself without the extra battery? TIA
I have a question that no one seems to be able to answer, so I thought I'd try here on this video. I have a 6.5 amp electric pole saw that I would like to use in the field using my existing car battery (2000 Rav4). Sun Joe said I would need a 5,000 watt power invertor, but that seems really high. What is the minimum wattage I would need to power my pole saw?
I just perches a Jupiter power Inverters 2000 watt , the box says that must install a deep cycle battery , can you explain by details on how to hook up two battery's to order to get high performance at it peek?
Hello great video. Do you think an inverter with a 2000 watts continuous current and the 4000 w peak can power an air compressor?? Please let me no what you think
I know this is 4 years later but....probably should have used a Deep cycle battery for the secondary battery instead of an automotive battery. Will last significantly longer, Saving you crazy money over time.
The part name you we're looking for is a ''Diode Bridge'' witch it''s fonction is to let current go one way only this is why you won't drain your maine car battery if inverter is left on
Question? I just installed power inverter from the van battery..(ford 99 5.4) I used anl fuse holder 200 amp fuse Wired 02 cable… inverter 3000 w Jupiter from harbor Freight Tools When i turn on a portable a/c 5000 btu.. the compressor just charged ones and later just blow hot air … I don’t feel charge and completed the compressor cycle… Please help me Thanks
nice video in the terms of information, may I suggest you not use the steady hand or anti shake thing for the video it was messing with my eyes was too hard to actually watch. I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem.
so when hooking up the second battery did you just run cables to the inverter's terminals? so you had 4 cables connected to the inverter terminals? 2 from the car and 2 from the 2ndary?
did the cables from the car battery connect to somekind of hub or did you just splice the inverter cables together? Then you just added the 2ndary battery cables to the cable running from the car batt? So its one cable from the car batt with 3 sets of (+) ( - ) connections coming out of it at the end?
What model air conditioner are you running on the 1500w inverter? Can the alternator sustain the air conditioner running at idle for hours? You said 12 "hundred" btu did you mean 12 thousand?
Awesome video! Thank you! I'm wanting to run a 120v welder off of a system like this, do you know how to calculate the start up amperage draw for something like that?
Hey bud, i want to ask this from you instead of consulting an electrician or something. I need to be able to run power tools from my truck. I have another battery and a 500 watt inverter says inverts 120/500. 120 to.the lighter plugin and 500 direct. could i build a box to mount to my headache rack that holds the second batter and my inverter then run my connection to the main battery when needed? And for hooking my batterys togeather i do parallel? positive to positive and negative to negative?
Hi Mr Wayne would you please let me know more about the power inverter you are using to rum the portable ac is it a pure sine wave inventor or a normal modified inventor Waiting for your response Thanks for help and sharing
hey wayne how you doing.. so i want to see how did you set up your hpc1200 im curious I think I want to install mine just like your.. please post some picture on LF thank in anvance
I am a mobile mechanic and would like to be able to have an inverter to power up an aircompressor(20gal) to use my power tools, laptop, maybe charge some power tools, or use my shop vac. Is a 1500 inverter good enough?

If it's connected to the vans main electrical system then yes it with both charge the battery and kill it if you leave the lights or something on. You can prevent this using a isolator. This let's the battery charge but not run dead

Google search term "power bright power inverter" they make them all the way up to 6000 watts! These are the same ones powering microwaves, ovens, washers and dryers.
Your inverter is way too small for what you're trying to do, you're going to end up burning it out just because it says is 1500 watts does that mean it is

Would be a good video if you would back off a little so we could see what you are talking about. Maybe have someone else take the video so the camera doesn't move so much. How did you get the wiring from the engine to the back of your truck for the Inverter? I also have an Interstate battery and need to hook up my inverter to the back of my truck as I am also a locksmith.
Thanks for your video it was helpful but I do have some questions I did click to go to a website to ask questions I didn't see spot for that anyhow I'm a contractor would like to hook up a 2000 watt inverter in my utility shell it has two batteries in the F250 that I have and I'd like to know what gauge wire to run back to the backup battery I have a 30 amp power AMG sealed battery that I'm going to use for the back up with a 2000 watt inverter so what size cables do I need to hook up from the battery back to the shell and then from the inverter to battery and battery to inverter hope that was clear enough

you probably wanna strap on another alternator or two if you plan on using it as a generator, or at least get a built alt
Did you have to install a higher output alternator to keep up with the battery discharge ?
A good ground in your vehicle is the welded body or frame, frame being preferable. Kudos for removing the paint on the cabinet and venting the battery a lot of people would not have done either.

This guy thinks bigger fuses gives more power. I'm going to guess he's dead already.
Yah, he's fried
Instantly stopped watching at that point
To be fair, im a terrible speaker at explaining things and he probably choked up. In my mind I know what I mean but things come out wrong. Im sure he meant well but yeah fuses dont generate anything.
I never saw a good shot of how you had the battery set up.
Awesome video! Now is there a way to wire this so that while running the truck it charges this system?

I did not know about the venting /gas...thank you for the great info.
Batteries emit hydrogen & oxygen gasses that are highly explosive. Batteries explode just like a bomb does.
Does your alternator charge the second battery when the van is running as well as your main van battery?
In both of my service vehicles. I had a professional stereo company run the wiring to a back up battery. And in both units all my work lights are directly connected to the secondary battery. I think the piece you're talking about is a battery isolator.
+TexasMushroom Yes
+TexasMushroom or a low voltage disconnect. it will automaticaly disconnect you truck battery. commo,ly used in mobilehomes and rv's.
Did you have to upgrade your alternator???
how did you tie in the extra battery? can't quite see the wire set up...I don't do keys but I do construction and this is exactly what I need..thanks in advance
So what would your suggestion be to run 2 small house freezers in a dodge 3500 van? It's a 3000 watt inverter.
Will the 2nd battery charge off the vehicle charging system when the truck is running?
Yes, but you also have to install an isolator so 2nd battery doesn't continually draw power from main battery when vehicle is off.
How do i run from battery and install the inverter all the way in back of work van? Do they make long cables?
I woul like to know if you have to have the vehicle motor running to make last the battery live or all this is just the battery along and how long it las . Because i have one and i have to keep running the vehicles motor to avoid the battery get dead.
Where do you find the professionals?
Good set up... I've got 2 questions:
1- Is your vehicle ON while you use the power?
2- could you have run the AC on by itself without the extra battery?

I would have enjoyed this video had you shown every step. Explaining how to do something is not the same as actually showing it.
I have a question that no one seems to be able to answer, so I thought I'd try here on this video. Nick23at63 Nick using ohms law 120v X 6.5a = 780w
I just perches a Jupiter power Inverters 2000 watt , the box says that must install a deep cycle battery , can you explain by details on how to hook up two battery's to order to get high performance at it peek?
so you have a video how to connect (wiring)the two batteries properly to run and AC unit 7.6 amps, 7000 btu thanks
An isolator will keep the vehicle battery from going dead and both batteries will charge when the vehicles running.
9:20 it's called an isolater.
When your wife kicks you out of the house but you still want to play Playstation lol
Good one!!
You deserve a 12 pack sir so you can enjoy when she kicks you out
🤣
Go with an AGM battery. Can mount it on it’s side if need be.
Hello great video.
Do you think an inverter with a 2000 watts continuous current and the 4000 w peak can power an air compressor??
Please let me no what you think
do you even maintenance your battery bro?
I know this is 4 years later but....probably should have used a Deep cycle battery for the secondary battery instead of an automotive battery. Will last significantly longer, Saving you crazy money over time.
Hey Wayne I can't find that LG 9 amp 1200 watt portable AC anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated love the video of thanks.
The part name you we're looking for is a ''Diode Bridge'' witch it''s fonction is to let current go one way only this is why you won't drain your maine car battery if inverter is left on
Question?
I just installed power inverter from the van battery..(ford 99 5.4)
I used anl fuse holder 200 amp fuse
Wired 02 cable… inverter 3000 w
Jupiter from harbor Freight Tools
When i turn on a portable a/c 5000 btu.. the compressor just charged ones and later just blow hot air …
I don’t feel charge and completed the compressor cycle… Please help me
Thanks
Pd… I tested with the engine on..
nice video in the terms of information, may I suggest you not use the steady hand or anti shake thing for the video it was messing with my eyes was too hard to actually watch. I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem.
powerkane No it was just u with the problem
Do u need a fuse if connecting to a spare agm batt inside car but not car battery....agm to inverter powered by solar panel n control
How is the second battery connected inline and how do you charge the second battery?
Hi , for how long can you run the a/c while your ven is turn on and how long while is off? Thanks in advance
I have an RV and I can tell you the engine must be running or you will drain out your batteries very fast, probably will not even run.
Are the batteries connected in parallel or series? Where did you vent battery so H doesn’t build up while stopped?
I'd guess at parallel because he wants to increase amp hours NOT voltage
Did you install a upgraded alternator? If not ths stock one will be over taxed and wear out quick.
I apreciate your advice, I learned alot of this clip
Will that work while the vehicle is running?
I have a 2015 f 250 super duty with a 6.7 my amp for alternator are 155 I like to power up a laptop a air compressor how can I get it done
Like the video, just wondering if the $100 you spent on the battery could have been spent on a bigger inverter and get the same results!
I wouldn't think so, unless he took that hundred and added it to the total he has in the whole system. inverters are high..
Production of high quality inverter, there is a need to do?
Can you post a wiring diagram? Or pic of exactly how you wired it?
Can you plug a surge protector outlet into a invertor for easy plug in ?
so when hooking up the second battery did you just run cables to the inverter's terminals? so you had 4 cables connected to the inverter terminals? 2 from the car and 2 from the 2ndary?
2 cables to inverter
did the cables from the car battery connect to somekind of hub or did you just splice the inverter cables together? Then you just added the 2ndary battery cables to the cable running from the car batt? So its one cable from the car batt with 3 sets of (+) ( - ) connections coming out of it at the end?
Battery cable in line charging line comes into battery one. Then cables go to battery 2.
Is that a house hold surge protector you have there under the inverter.?
yes
What model air conditioner are you running on the 1500w inverter? Can the alternator sustain the air conditioner running at idle for hours? You said 12 "hundred" btu did you mean 12 thousand?
Awesome video! Thank you! I'm wanting to run a 120v welder off of a system like this, do you know how to calculate the start up amperage draw for something like that?
to weld you will need a big 6000w inverter
So the second battery will be charged by the alternator as well?
The system is able to charge when or while off. One product is called a battery buddy.
What size wire did you use from the car battery to the deep cycle battery? What size wire did you use from the deep cycle battery to the inverter?
Where do you ground them converter?
thanks for this video have questions. .
to use mini fridge and microwave in my semi truck . which one I need converter or inverter ?
Inverter- turns DC to AC.
Hi Mr Wayne would you please let me know more about the power inverter you are using to rum the portable ac is it a pure sine wave inventor or a normal modified inventor
Waiting for your response
Thanks for help and sharing
hey wayne how you doing.. so i want to see how did you set up your hpc1200 im curious I think I want to install mine just like your.. please post some picture on LF thank in anvance
So if i decided to put a power inverter in my diesel truck that already has a second battery would I need to wire a third battery or not?
maby make the cabeling so the second one only connects if the key is turned
You need a battery right at or next to the power inverter to take the shock load
Can you use extension cord to use your equipment?
Hi
Can i run the car engine while using my 1500 w inverter ?
Can you just tell me in dummy terms everything I need to hookup inverter in my suv I will be living in it again and this time I want power please help
Isolator work good?
battery isolator is what you are talking about
+assid a Yes
What kind of air conditioner is that ?
It said LG on it.
Is this safe when it’s thundering and lightening outside? I’m thinking about creating a mobile home vehicle.
What size would I need for 14amps
Heard it here first folks, explosions can cause health problems!
I want to do this I need help!
can you send me a diagram of how everything is hooked up and installed please
I am a mobile mechanic and would like to be able to have an inverter to power up an aircompressor(20gal) to use my power tools, laptop, maybe charge some power tools, or use my shop vac. Is a 1500 inverter good enough?
Thats all mine is
Is this running on a stock alternator?
yes
Cool, figured it would be drawing too much amperage.
Nope. the dual battires take all the are surge in power and keep everything running smooth.
nice video do u know if the harbor freight converter for 1500 wats is really good? or is not worst the money ? thks
I wouldent buy Harbor freight electronics
Harbor freight is the McDonald's of tools...
What ac is that
Would you be willing to help me with my current power set up in my work van. I have been having some issues.
El título está en español verdad ????
Cool Stuff .Thank you very much.
Hey buddy i have a trace inverter 2000watt 8ooowatt peak and I have a 100% seal battery in the back of my work van what I am wondering is if I run it with the van off will it kill the battery under the hood as well as the one in the back thanks

having problems with my 2006 e250 locksmith van 1000W inverter. 2 battery system
I'm not familar with that one. Maby the Dealership might be able to help
Google search term "power bright power inverter" they make them all the way up to 6000 watts! These are the same ones powering microwaves, ovens, washers and dryers.
Hello Sir. We need a small car power inverter system to run for our ELECTRIC DUAL FRYER. Maybe you can help us.
What are the things we need? I only found a 500W car power inverter. Maybe you can help us.
Your inverter is way too small for what you're trying to do, you're going to end up burning it out just because it says is 1500 watts does that mean it is
I have the 2000 - 4000 watt inverter from Harbor Freight it does a good job overall. It's not a sine wave inverter. But when I first try to cut my hair dryer on the red light comes on and it beeps so I cut it off the power switch and then back on and worls and it resets it. And I noticed if I'm using the metal cutting saw and I stop and cut it back on I have to reset it at times that's the only drawback. Does anybody else have that problem? I have a diesel with two pretty big batteries.
why do ppl ever bother putting up vids when they don't give FULL DETAILS.. and someone else filming please
Tim THE F WORD Johnston " just use heady duty wire" 😂😂😂😂
Would be a good video if you would back off a little so we could see what you are talking about. Maybe have someone else take the video so the camera doesn't move so much. How did you get the wiring from the engine to the back of your truck for the Inverter? I also have an Interstate battery and need to hook up my inverter to the back of my truck as I am also a locksmith.
extention cord. ran under drivers side fender and in through the the door and all the way to the back.
extention cord. ran under drivers side fender and in through the the door and all the way to the back.
I want to install a power inverter in my truck or car a welding machine of 110 v .. but I don't now which is fine .. .. cheers ..
Why do you need 2 fuses in the same line
Pure sine wave inverters people
Look it up
you should cleanup that corrosion from your battery terminals, thats gonna eat through your battery connectors
+Van Terry done log ago along with a new battery
I Shure HOPE you aren't pushing 24 volts to that inverter.... I HOPE it's in parallel

Thanks for your video it was helpful but I do have some questions I did click to go to a website to ask questions I didn't see spot for that anyhow
I'm a contractor would like to hook up a 2000 watt inverter in my utility shell it has two batteries in the F250 that I have and I'd like to know what gauge wire to run back to the backup battery I have a 30 amp power AMG sealed battery that I'm going to use for the back up with a 2000 watt inverter so what size cables do I need to hook up from the battery back to the shell and then from the inverter to battery and battery to inverter hope that was clear enough
