Types of Cancer - Squamous Cell Carcinoma vs Adenocarcinoma

- With all the mutations in the last videos, here is something about the tissue (histology):
We have already seen that tumors of the epithelium are called carcinomas (see video below). But that's not all: "squamous cell carcinoma" or "adenocarcinoma" is often referred to. This is based on the tissue from which the cancer develops: the squamous epithelium mainly has mechanical functions, while the glandular cells (aden = gland) have more chemical functions.
Of course, the affected organ in cancer is important for the prognosis. Nevertheless, there are differences between these two types of cancer regardless of the organ. Squamous cell carcinomas often grow locally and can therefore cause major damage to the affected organ. Adenocarcinomas can also do this, but tend to metastasize early; here the metastases often determine the symptoms.

Vielen Dank für das tolle Video! Sogar unterhaltsam war es, was für mich aber auf Grund meiner derzeitigen Pathologie Verwirrung eher nebensächlich war. Wichtige Infos kurz u knackig dargestellt, ich würde mir nur noch mehr zur Differentialdiagnostik wünschen, aber das ist dann natürlich wieder sehr spezifisch :) einen schönen Tag wünsche ich!
achso und assoziierte mutationen wären auch spannend gewesen, da Sie schon von treiber Mutationen sprachen!
