A video dedicated to what exactly your To Do list looks like in action would be a great video on its own (ie., show what the output looks like as you do each step).
Wow y'all need so much hand holding. That's a fairly personal thing, to do lists lol 'let me copy yours' lmao he just told you just do it, y'all just make your to do list it doesnt have to be perfect. You got this!
@@luciusrex JP Also said he was going to show all that in future videos and that he really wants to help others do it. So it seems inline with his mission.
I'm fortunate enough to play very regularly, almost all home brew stuff, but 2025 is the year I really force myself to share my creative work and finish my first setting zine! You've been a huge inspiration to me for years, JP. Thanks so much for everything you do.
I have not followed your channel for that long, but you have been a source of inspiration for me. I'm building my own fantasy world and your video's really pushen me in taking more control. I've been drawing world maps, designing creatures, ect. It been so much fun. Have a wonderful 2025 and stay safe.
I would love to see how your zine making process works! I am slowly working on my own zines, so any tips would be helpful! Also, the deadlines are a good idea! I should do that..
Inspiring - I bought your Star Borg 'zines and this is one of my favorite TH-cam channels. You are a freakin' font of positive energons! Cheers and best in the new year :)
Your content has so much personality and it's clear ypu have a singular creative voice that's incredibly inspiring, I'm gonna pick up some of your stuff soon. Also do you still skate? I saw you skating on some other channels and I thought that was really cool.
It's been a great year to be a JP Coovert fan! I've loved the zines on patreon and am so stoked to get the Dragon Town Boxed Set! I echo the earlier comments about loving the idea of you showing your behind-the-scenes zine process, that sounds so incredibly helpful as someone interested in making a few zines myself. I also loved the ideas you have for games/zines in 2025, especially the solo mad max one! Can't wait for another great year of JP content!
Awesome sauce @jpcoovert Luv yer stuff Inspiration is abound watching yer vids. Cant wait for canada post to catch up to get my next zine in the mail. Happy New Year.
Awesome! Here's hoping next year is even better. Seeing the stuff you do, and how you do it, is incredibly inspiring to me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. :D
JP congrats on it all, you're an inspiration man! I can't wait to pick up a copy of your box set and all your zines, you inspired me earlier this year to make an aztec ttrpg. I recently launched the 2nd edition of Nawalli my aztec card game this year and included an adventure mode, thanks for asking :) Excited to see what you do next year!
commenting for algo, your art style and vibes are so infectious I'm so happy that I got gifted a bunch of your art books for Yule from the significant other
I too am in recovery from excessive comma use! 😅 I'm definitely hoping to refine my writing a bit and work on some mini-adventures. You've been a major inspiration!
I love your youtube videos and the passion you have for your work. You have inspired me to be less afraid of being creative and to have more fun with it. I love your work. Ive been eyeing up several of the products in your shop, so many cool and interesting things in there. I hope you have an awesome 2025!
Thank you for the videos throughout the year! They are truly inspiring and fun to watch. I shall take heed to your words about breaking down goals more specifically to be able to tackle them better.
Keep up the great work. I really enjoy the drawing and inspirational stuff even if I dont play any of the systems you mentioned (B/X, AD&D 1e, Gamma World 1e, Index Card RPG ).
For getting more in character when playing, I found that using a premade character that I chose from a small pool for part of a one shot on free rpg day allowed me to let go of my attachment to the character and allowed me to take more risks with less regard to survival and more to embrace the drama or flow of the current action. Ended up developing as greedy by discovering the cost of the item we were delivering was worth a lot more than we were getting and trying to push for more from the buyer. Combat didnt go well for us but I was able to roll well enough in the system (something with a star wars skin over it) that my character was able to do some desperate tech work and throw a tool to allow the other characters to escape but died in the process. I think I rigged the console to explode or something. I think it had some kind of system where bad rolls (had quite a few) gave you points that you could spend to swing things in your favor and we were getting close to the end of the time slot so things came together well that way. I think by not having made the character from scratch I was a step removed from their overall survival (since it was a one shot anyway) and more invested in the overall story and was able to think more about what would a character with those traits do in a movie at this point. A bit more like audience expectation informing gameplay. We ended on a pretty good conclusion/cliffhanger for an opening episode to a series.
what do you think are the most essential things to have in one of the setting/adventure zines? I'm sure you have a format by now with how many great zines you crank out
One thing I haven't mentioned much is writing for clarity. If you are making a setting or an adventure for someone else to use I think it's really important to make sure the ideas are clear and concise. It's very different than how someone might write a fantasy novel for example.
@ your drawing books convey this so well, they are super clear and concise for representing everything in as simple (and easily drawn) a way as possible
I’d love to see videos about how you do layout and get them get the zones to print! Inspiring stuff as always, JP.
I would love to see this as well.
You're an incredible creator, JP. You are such a massive inspiration for my own work. Thanks for what you do, brudda! :D
You are so inspiring, thank you so much!

Yet more awesome stuff from you

I said this before hearing you say you'd step by step do this at 3:20 lmao
