You are absolutely right - Shawn is an excellent interviewer because he gets his guests to talk, and he listens and lets them talk.
I contrast, although I love to hear Dr. Jordan Peterson speak his own views, he's not a good interviewer on his own podcast because he doesn't let his guests speak.
Perhaps that's improved. My opinion is based on podcasts from a few years ago, especially his interview of Dr. Anthony Daniels, who writes as "Theodore Dalrymple".

I've been an Officer for 10 years and just in the decade that I've been doing it, the changes have been very noticeable. You asked about how law enforcement feels about the current uptick in crime, and I'll tell you that most are reluctant to speak on the matter, but their actions do the speaking for them. Officer initiated activity is way down across the board. Traffic stops are down because nobody wants to become the next person on TH-cam being crucified for doing their job. Many Officers have dialed it back a lot since when I started and have become reactionary instead of proactive. I can't blanket cover all law enforcement because obviously there are still many who give 110% every day, but the overall sentiment and morale is in the toilet.

It seems to me we are seeing the exact problems that people had during prohibition. I like police and i dont use drugs lol. It seems like (and im sure its just the visual) every time someone gets into an officer initiated activity then its lets play 100 questions, show me your papers, answer my questions or your not cooperating. When they see everyone as criminals then the people wont trust or like them. nor should they.

What about constitutional rights that are being violated by law enforcement by some officers that are to uphold the constitution they are violating? This is a real problem.
I get using military strategy and tactics in some cases. The number of wrong location to do a search warrant gets the citizen killed or children hurt that are not directly involved because of mistaken identity?
There needs to be some re education for all law enforcement on 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5 amendment rights.
Oklahoma has had 3 different search warrants that was the wrong location with injuring or killing the citizen inside their home by mere mistaken identity. That should be ZERO happening by gathering intelligence.

I am a retired police officer and the general feeling in law enforcement is we have no top cover but are expected to put our lives on the line, families, and retirement at the blink of an eye. The thing is, even knowing this, we still suit up and protect and serve. 99 % of us are out there doing the right thing and are actually put in place to protect your constitutional rights. I have never worked with a racist or heavy handed officer, yes there are the bad ones, however, I’ve never met one and I have worked with hundreds of law enforcement officers. We say cops stopped being Andy and Barnie when criminals picked up machine guns. Well people didnt need machine guns until the law created a trillion dollar black market and criminalized vise substances. Then everyone was happy with the game because it was more money and more officers. More jails. Now everyones a criminal.... Now 50 years later we have cops with armored vehicles and automatic rifles. As long as the people keep voting in dumb laws then they will suffer the consequences of being policed the way we are. Dont blame the cop, blame the laws you expect them to enforce.

On any team, if bad behavior isn’t acknowledged and deterred within the team. You can expect every other team not to respect you. Unions teach police how to lawfully violate civil rights. The city county and state commissions knows it, and the civilians know it. So this is a chicken or egg argument from them. Did civilians and who we vote in to watch police automatically for no reason stop trusting and supporting? Or did police policy over the years get to the point where “protect and serve” got replaced with “officers safety first”. I’m not a rocket surgeon but officers safety IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FIRST. That’s called tyranny. And innocent ppl die from it. The public did not cause that. Cannot cause that.

I get it. But as a civilian, getting handcuffed searched and ticketed for improper plates for having a dealership plaque on my car (while bring my mother home from surgery) does not make me like them.
Showing “There are bad apples that don’t represent us” is different from:
“We have bad apples but they did nothing wrong. Also if we hit your car that’s an increase in your insurance for five years.”
    Simple.😊

I support Leo’s to an extent. I’ve met a couple who are decent dudes for the most part their “revenuers” traffic citations etc basically govt over reach, officials who have thugs working for them who, when done wrong, investigate themselves. Disgraceful. Opposite of what the term freedom conveys. Saying there’s no such a thing as a dirty cop is like saying there’s no such a thing as a lazy construction worker.

Local police are in the toughest position to operate. Most police departments are employed by cities, and police administration (commissioners and chiefs) are typically appointed/hired by city administrations. If these city administrations are of the "woke" variety, these appointed police administrators will reflect the same. The rank-and-file police officers have difficulty operating in this environment.
Contrast this to the typical county sheriff who is elected by the citizenship. Across the country, one sees sheriffs independently pushing-back on these new rules/regulations that are passed by woke institutions.

If Police officers were more honest and punishing to bad apples people would be more willing to support. For example, If I hung around a rapist and I never separate myself nor condemn what he does then I can’t be upset if people assume I’m a rapist too. That’s the problem with police if you don’t separate and condemn the bad apples then you all will look like bad apples or bad apples supporters. There are plenty great officers but when they are hand to hand with evil and tyranny how good can the really be?

It sucks when you’re held accountable for your actions doesn’t it? Stop treating citizens like lesser thans and show some respect. Stop praying and spraying because you have qualified immunity and the DAs rarely charge unless it’s a person of color you shot. You’re not responsible for every round like a citizen is.
