I waited my whole life for a BH win!!! Wish my old boy could've seen this. My BH watched dog shows and the Puppy Bowls like the dogs were in the room with us lol
Please don't go buy a bloodhound, unless you're totally committed. Study, and ask questions. A good friend of mine had one, there's lots to go through to bring them up to adulthood. We have a boxer and they're challenging enough. Congrats to Trumpet. He's a beautiful dog. 🐕
@@neilr6006 I can't wait for my friend to wake up and find out the bloodhound won best in show. He'll be proud. We're truckers, we're early risers. Have a good one.
@@johnsantos9108 They are extremely intelligent, very independent (leading the handler on a trail), can be very destructive, they are LARGE and very powerful. They are nose driven and can't be trusted off lead or in an unfenced area. They sling slobber/drool on the ceiling and walls - I'm always carrying a hand towel around. I've had them for over 30 years and wouldn't have another breed but I personally think those without breed experience should have to foster a Bloodhound before they can get one. The American Bloodhound Club has a great website and breeder referral program.
@@johnsantos9108 For starters, they're stubborn. They're willful. Meaning you tell-em not to get into something they'll do it anyway. They will destroy your furniture if given a chance. They're going to try and be dominant over you. You'll have to convince them you are the Alpha. They'll spin it around on you if you don't stay with it. This advice came from my friend who had one 12 ,14 years. Once trained they're one of the best. Wife and I have a boxer. They're hilarious, know as the clown of the dog world. My son got a bloodhound puppy in February. He is a stunning dog, not as pretty as Trumpet, but still gorgeous. But I can tell you, wow, what a handful to raise. He has a real name, but we call him "slobber box" and "Destructo-dog". If you have to ask why, you're not ready for a bloodhound. Congrats to Trumpet.
I used to show horses. Judges almost always pick their winner when the dogs/horses enter the arena and make that first impression. After that the dog/horse has to make a mistake or make the judge doubt that impression. Trumpet was the most stunning of the group when he entered the arena and never let down.
I knew it would happen one day! I am in love with bloodhounds....there is something so beautiful and perfect about this breed of dog, they are a 'dog' they look like what we were all drawing as children, most of us...our rendering of a dog. Big floppy ears! The wrinkled droopy snout....omg....I'm in love; bloodhounds are stunning and their sniffers...their noses have saved and helped and found so many lost and passed on; victims of crime. These animals are precious. All animals are, but good for you Trumpet, Good Job~!!!!!!❤💜💙💚💛🧡
Bloodhounds are the salt of the Earth type of dog. They will love you to the end, and will always be a faithful friend. I loved my blood hound named Lupner. It’s been 45 years since I lost him and I still missing him even though I have lots of great dog since then, Lupner was special.
To me the Bloodhounds (St Hubertus) are the best and most beautiful dogs on earth. I love everything about them, their character, their looks and the way they're howling.
Bloodhounds are amazing working dogs, what they do for our society is outstanding, search & rescues for the alive, lost & deceased, what would we do without them?? This world would be a dark & dull place without dogs to rock it! It’s all about the dogs baby!! 🐾🐾🇺🇸🇺🇸☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾💋

Trumpet won the hound group and Best In Show.🙂😍 In my opinion the judge made the right decision. Hopefully these dogs will have their year in 2023: Smoothhaired Dachshund Pug Chinese Crested Chinese Shar Pei Finnish Spitz Australian Cattle Dog Bearded Collie Labrador Retriever German Shorthaired Pointer Bernese Mountain Dog Neapolitan Mastiff Rat Terrier Smooth Fox Terrier
Sad to see that dog shows are still favouring GSDs with sloping backs and built-in hip dysplasia. I thought there had been a real push towards breeding for health in recent years.
You are uninformed. Almost all GSDs from serious breeders will be OFA certified free of hip dysplasia and you are confusing the way the dog is "stacked"for the show ring with the way he would look just standing around. I cannot pour a gallon of milk into a quart container, but your post is in error.
I was being tongue-in-cheek with “built in hip dysplasia”, but I stand by what I said. A well bred - for health - GSD will not have a back slope that pronounced even if his handler pulls his rear legs back to pose for the judge. His gait would not be that crouched. Being CHD free is great but it doesn’t change that sad fact that the breed has been detrimentally altered, leading to increased chance of issues like osteoarthritis to spinal issues, for the sake of human vanity.
@@katyalupochev9589You had best reread my post. I did not think I could pour a gallon of milk into a quart container. Your contention is biased and ill-informed. Further, there are multiple "splits" of type in the German Shepherd breed and a person can research -- which you have obviously not done-- and make the selection appropriate to him. It would also be if you were to you concentrate on the exceptional Bloodhound -- which is this entire point of this TH-cam post -- rather than whining about extraneous foolishness.
@@Steve-wm1ol You do seem rather proud of that milk analogy; would you like to use it one more time? My quart container is ready. Yes there are different lines of GSD … and this one has been messed up by aesthetic breeders. Much like Frenchies and English Bulldogs. You can point to your rosettes and certifications all day, and I sure am glad that you are _intelligent_ enough to do your research and select a dog of superior breeding … but sad fact is breeders and “enthusiasts” showing dogs like this encourage unhealthy trends in breeding practices in the public at large.

@@pinkfreud62 look at the poor French bulldogs, they can’t even breathe hardly and have so many health issues, and because of this, most die from health related problems before they are even six! ALL OF THEM. Such sweet doggos!!
All six, but I particularly liked the German Shepherd and the bloodhound!
