Like it or not, this dog showed very well. He just oozed that hallmark happy bichon personality and when all the other traits are perfect, this puts him over the top! This is a companion breed and they absolutely MUST have that cheerful personality. Congrats Flynn!

Hutchlover Ds Show dogs are like people -they have bad days and better days. I show dogs and sometimes they just don't show as well as on other days! They aren't always "up" for the ring.
I agree. He was the most alert of all of them. Not comparing him to previous bichon winner. Just him against contestants that day. He was very engaging with people who interacted with him more than any other breed.
Did anyone else notice that when the Bichon handler's hand started shaking when he realized he'd won, the Bichon walked up and nuzzled his hand? I thought that was kinda sweet.
I got them both right. The Schnauzer moved very well but the Bishon just asked for bis. He moved very well which is why I think he won. The others moved well too but the Bishon looked outstanding. I've been showing dogs close to 50 years and know what judges r looking for. I breed and show poms. Haven't made it to Westminster. But know what a good dog looks like.

Bichons are an amazing breed and when not groomed for showing are the cutest & most natural-looking dogs you will ever see - like a happy stuffed animal come to life! They are intelligent, loyal & funny and tend not to be huge barkers. They may require medical care for certain issues as dogs sometimes do, so from the heart, I recommend pet insurance. I thought I was a big-dog person, but Bichons can get under your skin. They've become my favourite breed and have utterly stolen my heart thanks to an incredible female rescue dog named Shiloh. I can't express enough how much we loved that dog. I look forward to seeing her again one day! Yay, Flynn!!! 🌹❤️
Bean and Border Collie were the best. Love Bean. The winner was equally a perfect example of the breed. This would have been a very tough decision to make.

Yay! Bichons are the best! My baby is 14 and still looks like a puppy and is so energetic and comical, even if he is a grumpy old man. You really couldn't ask for a better dog! I was also rooting for the Norfolk terrier (so cute and pudgy)
Handler error caused that one. She took him too close to that camera, and it caused him to be paranoid about it. He wasn't gating to his best ability because he was worried about the camera behind him. Poop Happens, it just wasn't his day.
As a giant schnauzer owner I was definitely rooting for him. Too bad he got spooked by the camera or he probably would have won. You could tell how charming he was to the judge.

JR was a once in a lifetime dog. Good luck finding another Bichon, I have a rescue Bichon now. She is very sweet and loving.

Woo Hoo Happy the Bichon won. Had 3, father, mother, and son...recently lost dad to old age...Bichons are comical, loving and are great watch dogs!

When Bean sat up like that not one not two but three times I lost it.
They're all beautiful and intelligent, but my gosh--the awareness in Slick's (the border collie) eyes is astounding. Just mesmerizing.

The way they announce the winners are confusing if you don't follow these shows. Over all I am glad my favorite the Bichon Frise won.
How does one compare best in show among such a varied group of dog breeds? I never understood the criteria.
Each breed has it's own standard written to be judged against. The winner chosen is the dog that matches its standard the closest.
Thought the spaniel or I was hoping pug but overall good quality of choices
