- In this episode of "DISTRESSABLE JUNKOLOSITIES" we wanna go back to the basics! We are going to have fun with some easy distress techniques and we are going to create a mini booklet, inspired by the one and only @timholtz !
"DISTRESSABLE JUNKOLOSITIES" - transform your found objects into junk journal art!
What on earth are junkolosities?
"junkolosities" is a coined term combining "junk journal" and "curiosities," created by Nicole @NatureSpiritJournals and myself, Luise Heinzl.
Take a moment to dig out all those forgotten, quirky items from your drawers that you've saved specifically to use in your junk journal someday!
This year, we're celebrating 20 years of distress, and we invite all of you to celebrate and, most importantly, to distress with us!
In this series, taking place once a month, we'll be experimenting with various distress techniques from the last 20 years on everyday objects.
You too can create unique junkolosities with things you have at home!
In each video, you'll see a completed project, allowing you to join in and participate at any time. Nicole's and my videos always go live simultaneously, providing multiple design possibilities for the same idea.
Of course, there's also a playlist with all the series' videos, so you can easily jump in at any point.
Are you implementing your own ideas for the projects, or do you want to recreate our inspirations? We invite all of you to join this series!
Certainly, we would love it if you post your own projects as photos or videos. Feel free to use #junkolosities and tag us in your posts! Let's get started!

You’re so hilarious! I love everything you create!
Love this little journal. It's so sweet.
Love it! The grungier the better!
So many helpful tips. Love this project!
Love the return to basics for an adorable little project, it looks great! I love the grunge!
P.S. We say counter-clockwise (or, rarely, anti-clockwise) ;)
I'm always fascinated by your videos!! I never can stop watching them❤❤❤
A fun project, love how it turned out! And great information and tips on blending, splattering, etc. ❤
Really great ideas and love the end result. Thankyou.
Very cool little project that I'm sure everyone will be able to make XXXXXXX
Fabulous project Luise. I really admire your work, thank you
Loved this video. Thanks for sharing. I love almost all of Tim's stuff. ❤❤❤
🤩The booklet is so cool!!! 🤩
Thank you, I just love this little book. So creative.
Love your little distressed book folder Luise. I love small projects like this, it takes little time to complete, also the grungy distressed look is great - it’s very forgiving when I make mistakes (as I often do) and the end result is always a bit of a surprise!
Hi Luise! ❤ i love when you come with projects like this one! I always make my own ang get so fullfilled and happy! ❤ thank you so much for sharing it and explaining it so well! Have a wonderful day! ❤❤❤
Beautiful booklet! I was sad that February was over but I am really looking forward to watching this new series 🙃🙂
Love going back to basic thank you 😊
Absolutely love this! So much yummy grunge. You are amazing. Thanks for sharing your process. 😍💖
Great tips loved the blending one particularly. You are a pleasure to listen and watch. Thank you for all the work preparation you must do.
Gorgeous project 😊
This project turned out beautifully. My favorite part was when you showed all the ways to distress the glossy ephemera. I’m definitely getting my sanding disks now! I can’t wait to watch more of your videos! 😊😊
Love this!! (Counter-clockwise) 😊
This was so interesting. Thank you. 😊
Fabulous! I definitely want to do this… Thanks for sharing.
Love this project 😊
Ok, i am 10min in, and stopped it to go get my stuff to create with you!

What a fun project, Luise. I’m so glad that your creativity is back with many wonderful ideas to share with us. Thank you.

Love, love it!💛
I love it, I sat here and made one as well, and am just in love with it...thanks for the great idea!!!!!!
Beautiful booklet Luise 🤗
With this video I finally understand usefulness of stamping for composition/framing. I had some vague idea about that before but now it is super clear and thanks a lot for this!
So beautiful ❤
Aloha Luise🌺 I’m not so much into the grungy look but guurl you are slowly converting me hahaha! I would start watching with some wariness and then keep watching cuz you are funny and I really get a kick out of just listening to you, but by the end of the vid im always amazed! You are very good at what you are doing Luise..never lose that passion💕Mahalo Lei
That is so cool! I love it ❤
Nicely done!
Love this
Thanks for all the inspiration, using the postage stamps helped me remember I have those too, why don't I use them!
So cool!!❤❤
This is very cool!❤️
Fantastic back to basics. What a beautiful, interesting, grungy mini booklet. Lot of texture and interest in such a tiny booklet. Easy to follow instructions for beginners and advanced. Thank you for sharing. Was so much fun to watch. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I loved watching your video looks like you had so much fun at the beginning I learned some things I forgot to stay in a paper without getting a glob Of ink. ❤
Lovely idea 😍👏 lots of love from arctic Norway 🥰❤️🙏🥳
❤ you are such a pleasure to listen to. I got where you’re coming from including ooh, Ah and ya . It’s a delight. It looks so good and the artist is a dear soul.
I had forgotten all about those TH books from back in the day! Sadly, mine were donated when I moved cross country years ago. Loved your little booklet.
Love it
Oh Luise! I forgot to tell you I did it! When you colored the paper doll photo in February and taught us dabbing gesso with our fingers. I actually it and it worked for me !! i am no artist like you but how happy I learned this from you! You are a fabulous teacher and your explanations and process are so clear to follow! I will be a junk journaler one day! I am 66 years old so I hope it happens soon!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
We used to trade those little things in uk when I was small. We called them SCRAPS, you could buy big sheets of all different styles of them. 😁🙏❤️
I am absolutely in love with DISTRESSABLE JUNKOLOSITIES! I really hope it continues! You are a delight and your creations are pure inspiration!
This project is something I would do. I appreciate your instruction which is perfect for someone who is new to layering ephemera. I have made a file folder like this but would not have thought to put the little pages inside the folder. Thank you!
Clockwise and anticlockwise, l love this project, queen of grunge
Or counterclockwise.😊
@@LaurieEtchison correct x
Love it!❤
Before I watch any further, I'm a minute in and must say you have to be the most patient person in the world because your intros are always so interesting and complex. You go, girl!
Amazing!!!!!❤❤❤😅
Genius❣️
Dabke furs video
Thx for the video
It’s so spooky how often in yours & Barbara’s videos I think something like “Oo a round stamp would look perfect on the corner of that stamp” & you pick up exactly what I’m thinking of. Or when you’re trying to choose a piece to use or a spot to put it in & I think “that one” or “right there” & you guys choose the same. I’m not sure if it’s that I have just learned your styles so I can predict what you will choose (since your styles are both very different to mine), or some collective unconscious or what. But spooky (& cool) every time it happens 😁
Omgosh Luise, this is wonderful!!! I had forgotten all about these books and I have them, lol! The intro to the video was amazing and fun!! I’m super excited to play along with you through this series!! Thank you so much for sharing this!! 😊❤😊
Fabulous booklet, enjoyed watching🩷💙🩷
Counter clockwise in the US. 😊 To remember think of a clock on a counter and it is an wise old owl clock 😁
Counterclockwise 😊
I have a file folder creation that is so similar to your thumbnail photo. I had to get it out & see what you did differently from my own creation, (vintage 2015).
Great minds think alike GMTA!
Love learning and working along with you. The good thing about TH-cam is that we can watch it first and then go back and play along with you as we review. Thank you.
Hi Luise and crafty friends. I love the little booklet and I will be making one or two. I was a little disappointed when the title said "back to basics" . I don't have the tools to cut tabs, punch and set eyelets or use all manner of stamps etc. I still very much enjoyed watching your creativity come to life! My little booklet is going to take a little more thought and time but that won't stop me. Thankyou for sharing 💝
Well, those tools are only some to make our lives easier. You can do everything with scissors and it will turn out as nice as ours
What a great little distressed booklet!!! I love it❣️❣️
I could watch you all day!
I love this back to basics project! Sometimes, we are so into trying new and complicated techniques that we forget about the simple pleasure of playing with paper and ephemera. I adore all of the grungy goodness in your project, and I can’t wait to make some of these fun booklets.
I love the way you added the clear gesso on the photo after sanding! Such a cute mini booklet!!
Absolutely Wonderful, fun fun booklet 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰
Outstanding tutorial! Lovely, grungy project! Thank you.❤
Vintage Photo will never get old. It’s perfect.
What a beautiful mind and soul you have , Luise! So many ideas for me to save. 💜
"Love" another project of yours. As always BEAUTIFUL.
Always love how you turn a blank piece into “happy grunginess.”
Beautiful file folder booklet, just amazing! I learn new techniques and tips every video you make!
Eyelet….. tadaaaa…. Terrific! Now you have to write your story…. How about how you made the animation of the letters at the start of this fabulous video?
Its anti clockwise and in old anglosaxon,(I think but could be wrong) it is called widdershins which is much more interesting. Its great to get your little tips too. Arohanui❤
❤❤❤❤
These are so cute! Thanks for sharing them! ❤❤
All three are called daubers in English and the make up brush is a blending brush. But finger thingy works great too.
❤️😎❤️
Love watching you work and always feel so inspired
Luise wonderful project. Luise I noticed on your wrist you have a measuring ruler for bracelet. Can you tell me where u got it. I love your tutorials.
That's a Tim Holtz bracelet from his Assemblage line of products. Only available at JoAnns, I think.
I checked their website, and it looks like it's still available. I thought it had been discontinued, but luckily I was wrong.
Wouldn't mind getting one of those myself.👍🏻
❤
That tiny splatter of gold at the end was the Ooh La La of this project!
😍❤️
A great little mini book! Love this junkolosity series with Nicole. ❤️
The word you were looking for is counter clockwise (the opposite direction to clockwise).
Clockwise. Anticlockwise or counter clockwise
Yay! Distress 101!
I enjoyed making this along with you LUISE HEINZL
Will have to try it don't have any of his stamps
Anti-clockwise
Stupendo progetto, l'unico problema che trovo che non ci sono i sottotitoli in italiano x quelli come me che non capiscono altre lingue😭🥰
🤍🩶🖤!
Who did you mention near the end when you were talking about the extra stamping in small spaces? Can you post a link to her TH-cam?
Marlies from Marly Design
