  • Jeff Blood, inventor of the deadly and famous Blood Dot fly, teaches us why he created it and also how to fish it on the rivers of the Great Lakes. Excellent instructional show for all anglers who want to use nymphing techniques to catch steelhead.

    That is a pretty cool net. Would be a little too small for Idaho Steelies, but great for trout.

    Would a 8wt 7ft9in bass rod do for rainbow/steelhead and salmon? River I'm thinking about has banks littered with overhanging trees .

      good question, we were moving around alot in both OH and PA. as soon as we pulled out the video camera, other anglers seemed to disappear or stay away. so kinda looked like we were alone

    Nice vedio.
    Great trout.
    But u need to use rubber nets!!!!!
    Cotton nets take off their slime coating witch makes the pic up more diseases.
    They need their slime!!!!!

      Steven Russell all our fish came from the eggs of western fish so ya they’re steelhead

    • @flyman451
      @flyman451 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What difference does it make? They fight well and take flies well. Admittedly they are not salt water steelhead but the original plantings were west coast steelhead smolts or fertilized eggs so what is your point?

    • @mattweber5242
      @mattweber5242 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They still migrate and therefore they are considered steelhead. They leave a large body of water to spawn into the stream they were released into when they were only weeks old maybe a few months old. Still a steelhead. Rainbow trout never leave the stream or river.

    • @fishinthebanks3512

  • @ericunderwood6728

    If you want to catch "Steelheads" you have to be on the West Coast of America, where Rainbow trout are born in a river that dumps into the PACIFIC OCEAN, after that Rainbow Trout makes it out into OCEAN ( not LAKE) that Rainbow Trout has been earned to be called a STEELHEAD, Out here in California I've been catching and releasing STEELHEADS for four and a half decades, if you want Big Rainbow Trout that came from California go to the Great lakes, if you want to catch STEELHEADS YOU HAVE TO COME TO CALIFORNIA, or the West coast of AMERICA

    • @greghinderliter
      @greghinderliter 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe the ones in lake ontario do go to the ocean...hmm

    • @brianamado4366
      @brianamado4366 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eric Underwood regardless a majority of the fish in west coast systems are stocked hatchery fish as well...stop debating its pointless

    • @tysonseafoot7834
      @tysonseafoot7834 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Underwood that’s pretty far down south for steelhead bud. You want the big northerns.
