I especially like how Mark has so internalized Urbie's fine soloing on this, that he verbatim lays out the structures that Urbie used, while still really improvising the last part of the solo. The structures that are particularly Urbie are the double tongued repetitive bits that happen here and there in the middle and upper-middle register. Gotta love Mark's great, great playing and also gotta appreciate the genius of Urbie Green.
mesmo imitando parte dos improvisos do urbie, nenhum solista do umpteen nao consegue alcançar a mesma musicalidade nos improvisos.sem duvida é o melhor solista que ja existiu nesta banda.
@tshows635 Not exactly. This piece and many others like it were played by Urbie Green and a similar ensemble of 20 trombones about 45 years ago. The record was originally entitled "21 Trombones" and then was reissued on CD as "Umpteen Trombones".
somehow i've missed this. Wonderful playing. Yes, the bs. trbs. are very good on this. Where is Ben? Isn't he in the 'in' group in the N.L.'s? jeff reynolds
Mark holds his trombone interestingly, same way as im currently holding mine since I broke my middle finger on my left hand. Wonder if he has a similar story, xD
As much as I appreciate the marvelous Trombone....I must say the interpretation of the song is all wrong. It should not be played uptempo....It is an extremely saaad song if you are aware of the lyric. For starters..."What now my love....Now that you've left me.....How can I live for another day. Watching my dreams turn into ashes.' etc.

Wow! Do these guys have an album?
I'm on Lead, Double Bass, and I want to be a regular Contrabass player... but meh. I'm learning Tuba though. Low Brass FTW!
Send this to all the Trumpet player d bags out there and watch there reactions XD
I liked the part where some guy played the trombone.
These guys must sleep with their trombones. You don't get this good hearing others better then you. Takes tons of practice time and patience.
