As a combat vet and police officer in the US I was in a dark, dark place several years ago. I had several friends killed on the job and several that had taken their own lives. I was on that path and found modeling and religion at about the same time. I contribute the fact that I'm still here because of these two things. I build mostly WW1 kits of planes and include them in dioramas. I found modeling from a TH-cam suggestion to watch Malcom's channel and I was hooked after watching him build a car. He talked about Models for Hero's in the video and it helped me make the connection to help with my PTSD. You guys have saved more people then you realize I believe. My wife, daughter and family are grateful for this hobby and what it has done for me.
Malcolm is really a lovely bloke. He helped me a lot when I was diagnosed with ptsd. After a few years, I became a volunteer with them so I now get to help out fellow service leavers with their model making journey while I enjoy the hobby.
Great video Matt and a worthwhile charity. I will be donating a large amount of kits from my "stash", I can only hope the serving and ex service personnel will have as much pleasure in the hobby as I do. Thanks to all for their service to the country, and thanks to you Matt for bringing this charity to our attention.
Great charity. Totally surprised what the people receive and how they get supplies not only to get them started but should enable them to keep building. Had just thought they got a small bundle of paints, tools and maybe a kit or two but getting that curated bundle must be a great help to people. Would really like to have a wander through their kits as there looked a few that were on my wish list!
I was struggling with my MH at the beginning of the year due to sustaining an injury whilst on duty and a spontaneous trip to a Airforce museum to help clear my head I thought I’d give building a starter set spitfire ago, I can say those days (yes I’m no pro at scale modelling) really helped me just relax and forget what had happened whilst at work. I have heard about this charity but have never reached out to them but I plan to very soon as scale modelling has truly helped me escape the difficulties and stressed of being a police officer.
What a brilliant charity, dear Santa for Xmas could I please do supermarket sweep in one of those containers? (Obviously that’s in jest I wouldn’t want to take from heroes) ❤
Very awesome man, I also live in the UK and i will definitely be donating to these guys! Also i just wanted to ask if you could do another f15 as i loved your other one!
Fantastic charity. Actually helping veterans without having to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds to executives and pay for star-studded galas. Just doing what a charity should do - help the people who need help.
Well, it's not a stash as such, more considered stock. I was told that it rotates pretty quick with kits not spending too long on the shelves as they send them out
I'm not sure I understand the question? If you are eligible for support from M4H you can be referred by a medical professional under the criteria outlined on their website: www.modelsforheroes.org.uk/get-support/
A wonderful idea for a Charity. A pity you caught Malcolm on a day when he didn't have time to sit down and give you an interview. This left me with the impression that you just barged in one day and expected him to drop everything. I know this was not necessarily the case. I know that you did a grand job of giving the charity a mention. And I am sure Malcolm's charity needs as much exposure as possible. The Best of British to Models for Heroes, Malcolm ad his volunteers. My donations will continue for as long as you guys can find the resources to find them a new home.
Not sure where you got that impression, naturally I scheduled a time in advance to offer my time to do some volunteering so this was all arranged. Also, this was more about exploring what the charity did on the day-to-day and I didn't want to just add to the pool of interviews that already exist out there on YT M4H are quite busy though and actually it's not a bad thing to show that they are somewhat understaffed for the amount of support they provide and the work that goes into it. If this video helps encourage a few new volunteers then that is a win. I know they need help to organise those 64,000 pots of paint in that ISO
@@ModelMinutes I am sure that you scheduled a meeting. I do not question that. I stated as much in my comment. I do not doubt it. How did I gain the impression that you did not sit down with him for an interview? Because you did not sit down with him for an interview. You filmed, produced and edited your video. Wasn't this the look you were going for? I am happy to withdraw my compliment if you prefer. Best Wishes.
Oh the sitting down part - there simply wasn't a suitable "sit down" space in their warehouse to utilise for that kind of interview, but I think it worked standing up
@@ModelMinutes Faerie Nuff. I was initially concerned with your first response, as though I had somehow offended you. When you were talking to Malcolm at his PC, it came across as though you were getting in his way, as though he just had no time for your interruptions. I genuinely thought this was your intent. A way of showing us that he is overwhelmed. Working overtime at weekends is an all too common cause of stress and mental illness. The very thing Malcolm is trying desperately to address. By the way; Malcolm was sitting down at this point. Just saying.
Absolutely outstanding cause , model making takes the mind off the evils and bad times of this world. I’m proud of you for your dedication and thoughtfulness, thank you so much my friend.🫡🏴🇬🇧🫡

Thanks for sharing your powerful story, I'm glad M4H were able to help in some way
As an ex serviceman & current police officer, this is my charity of choice. Well done for highlighting this very worthy charity.
I'm glad I could help do a little good :)

Good to hear! :)
A fantastic video and thank you for highlighting that this charity even exists. They definitely deserve to be highlighted i think.

Much appreciated!
Not only is it a brilliant charity but he’s created the world’s greatest model shop!
It was certainly fun looking through the shelves
What a great idea for a charity. Good luck to them and well done to Malcolm for giving his time.
I certainly hope they continue to grow :)
Great organization and good on you for volunteering. We have some 'models for vets' groups here in Canada, but nothing as big and organized as this.
That is awesome!
Great stuff. Thanks for highlighting the work they do!
No problem!
Great video. Thanks for the exposure of this great charity.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such an amazing video and so proud of you for highlighting such a great charity ❤
Thanks for being able to share some of your clips for use!
Great Video for a great charity. Bravo Zulu to all concerned
Thanks! It was a good experience!

Yeah, there were some great kits there, of course all for the benefit of the recipients of the charity
I don't think I've ever seen so many kits in 1 place! Good to see the charity has lots of supplies!
They go through them quick though

I wish you the best of luck :)
Amazing video and a very worthy charity 👏
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the t-shirt. Very good point. I buy kits a lot quicker than I build them, so I'm a collector as well as a modeller. Keep up the good work M4H.
Thanks very much! I tend to find I have a lot in the stash buy I try to build as many as I can
Excellent video for a great charity many thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video and awesome work these people do! Thanks for sharing ✌Canada✌
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting this. I am a M4H volunteer here in South Wales. It's an awesome charity.

Great video and in a good way makes me want to support the charity so will seriously look more into that - thanks
Awesome, thank you!
Great organisation, thank you for highlighting what they can do
Thanks for watching!
Your a hero matt
Well, not as much as some people
Excellent video Matt. Brilliant idea, and thanks for sharing.

Brilliant Matt! These guys are definitely going to get more support from me 👍🏼
Awesome, thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the suggestion- maybe one day
A wonderful charity.
very true!
It certainly is
Really good video Matt. Nice one.
Thanks!
👌😎☕️ good one Matt
Thanks!
A great video of show casing M4H and what they do
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video. One question i didnt see asked is does the charity support people from other countries?
I think you would have to ask them directly, I am not aware if they support outside the UK

They definitely put the beneficiaries at the heart of the organisation

Bloody hell.....that is some stash M.F H. have

@ModelMinutes i can imagine it rotaes quite quickly on a regular (almost daily?) basis
It is a full time job managing the stock and processing the dispatches of kits. Of course, all unpaid work by the volunteers
@@ModelMinutes oh so true.....and fair play to them.....awesome charity. 👍👍👍👍
There is rumour of a basement level filled with tea and biscuits. Undoubtedly Hob Nobs. The modellers biscuit.
How does someone who could benifit for HfH how would they contact you. Are there local places they can go to.
I'm not sure I understand the question?

Yes, his desk was one of the very few sitting spaces in the warehouse, a lot of the work can be quite hands-on
When i pop my clogs and leave this mortal coil can i be buried in that warehouse?🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol i'm not sure they would have space
@ModelMinutes as a ghost im sure they could fit me in.....somehow.lol.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
