Thank you so much for explaining how to adjust the temperatures, just saved myself a £75 call-out charge As a result of my stroke not able to retain information however, as I was able to watch this video several times, several more times I was able to set the thermostat.
Thank you, I had no instructions on the unit when brought the house, I made the assumption that the moon was night temps and you explained what it is I have now worked out why my heating was coming coming on multiple times of day and night
Such a helpful video! Having moved into a new home I was wondering what it was for and how to operate it. Mine looks just the same but is branded as a BossTherm BPS242RF. Without operating instructions it is quite useless as I would never have figured out those symbols. I thought my boiler was faulty as it kept switching off. Thanks for your helpful video!
So helpful! Makes me think how I didn’t get it initially. I was stuck with what temperature it chose when on auto whether it was the sun or moon... basically, imagine the moon as a temp between being “on” so one you don’t want it to drop below, then the sun temp is for the one you set on a1,2,3,4 :) easy! On the bottom slider if you want it quickly ok for a bit, just slide it to the sun. If you don’t ever want it to turn on say In summer , just flick the switch all the way to the right :)
The Siemens site had no useful information.Your advice regarding lowering the night temperature solved my problem and the cost of a new controller and sender. Thanks
A ubiquitous CH controller with minimum user friendliness, making its ubiquity a complete mystery. Like others here, I have always assumed that "Moon" and "Sun" were related to day and night temperature preferences which, it turns out, they're not. All anyone wants, surely, is a controller that turns on when one wants and off when one wants at pre-defined times and temps plus the ability to override that as required. Nein vorsprung durch technik on this one Siemens.
bootsamou bottom left corner you can see a cut out. Stick your thumb nail in the side recess n pull down. The battery holder will come down n out n just replace the 2 AA batteries inside. If you need to reset the unit, remove the screw at the bottom of the unit and remove the grey plastic backing. You should see 2 buttons allowing you to reset the unit.
What does the bottom right button do? Thanks for the video! I thought the moon was the evening temperature and not the 'off' temp. Thanks for clearing it up!
Thanks. But please can you make it clear the setting process foe A1/2/3/4 i.e. Should the bottom slider be on Auto mode for boiler to come on at preset times?
Thank you for the explanation, this was useful. However, why did the engineers develop a battery controlled timer that when the batteries die the whole darn heating system ceases to function? Infuriating and very unpractical.
I found out how sun and moon works:) sun and sum temp will make boiler go on betweem whatever times are set on A1toA2 and A3toA4.. everything in between will be moon and the temp set there..for example A1 6am A2 8am temp at sun set to 20..so boiler will go on if temp drops under 20. A2 5pm A3 9pm will still use sun settings so will turn on at undet 20. Now MOON..So in between above: from 9pm till 6am and from 8am to 5pm will be operated by moon temp on AUTO mode. If you set moon to temp to 18 and it drops below between those hours will turn boiler on. Its confusing..ive seem 1000000 yt videos...try it and see. Screen tell you as well which mode youre on..look at time frames and sun/moon sign. Hope it helps.
I have the one that has timing things on the side. I can’t seen to make it work. I have it on the sun and run at 22 degrees. I’ve tried different auto and run for the times set I can’t seem to get the triangle t come on for the boiler to work pls help thank you
the problem i was having was when i set the timing on A1 and A2 ,then went on run it didnt come on,but what u need to do is when u set the times u need to put the temperature at 25 or 26 to light the flame which kick starts it
Give me my old Honeywell on off thermostat anytime. Hate this thing. Engineer inisted this was the best thing since sliced bread. Each time my batteries needed changing my boiler system played up.
Surely it should come on at A1 and off at A2, on at A3 and off at A4? I ask because it’s 2am and I am watching boiler videos on TH-cam, as the thing is whacking out heat and I have woken because I am far too hot. My moon temp is 16: surely it should keep the house at 16 in the two set periods? Why is is roasting me in the middle of the night? Bloody technology.
Chris Winwood Set your moon temp to 10 degrees (this is the lowest temp your house will go down to on auto before it switches itself on regardless of the timer) Set your sun temp to the max temperature you want when the boiler is on e.g. 18 degrees. Then slide to auto and should work. We had same problem. Got a quick guide pdf from the website and figured it out eventually! The sun and moon are not night and day temps confusingly - they are max and min temps. The min temp overrides the boiler to “on” regardless of the timer when in auto mode, so this needs to be very low. Hope this helps.
my temperatures are set but the unit is displaying it's 23 degrees and it isn't. The heating should have kicked in but it's not coming on plus there's no reset button on the unit anywhere.
Dawn Robins I found a reset button. If you unscrew the bottom screw underneath & take off the hinged stand, there's a reset button. I have no idea what it does. Good luck.
Mike Wright Unscrew the panel at the back of the unit and press the reset button n that should make the unit start afresh. If there is a empty battery symbol showing, then you need to replace the 2 AA batteries first. Hope this helps?
A truly crap device , who would understand the set back temp or that it will work between the last 2 on offs. Hate modern tech as they think they are clever but just complicated things

Brilliant. You made it simple and you are excellent at imparting knowledge.
Thank you!

Us too!
Thanks. Far clearer explanation than in the instruction booklet that came with the thermostat.
Awesome video, very clear instructions that helped us to get the heating back up and running on a bank holiday and saved us a call out fee... cheers
Good instructions. We were just given the handset upon installation of our boiler with no information on how to use it.

What is the small round button bottom right?
Big thank you for making this video. It helped a lot⭐
Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks very much for this clip.
This thermostat is so unnecessarily confusing. HATE it.
I absolutely hate it too. I’m heading for a nervous breakdown having tried to work this pile of crap out. 😢
Thank you so much, I’ve just moved and had 5 different family members look at this and we couldn’t work it out 😂
So helpful! Makes me think how I didn’t get it initially.

Thank goodness for you!! Sat here freezing in my new flat, this video made no sense at all!
@@zobobeebo8011not a problem good sir!
We have had the very common fault and this video helped us to fix it. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the info, just moved in with my partner and this has helped immensely, as he has been living in a Sauna for an age :)
Brilliant, thankyou. Clear and concise instructions.
Thank you I had mine set at 21 degrees for both on and off 🤦🏼♀️
Your video was so helpful thank you
Brilliant just moved into a house 🏡 and your tutorial was spot on 👍
Thank you so much this has helped me 👍
Managed it after a while , thanks
The Siemens site had no useful information.Your advice regarding lowering the night temperature solved my problem and the cost of a new controller and sender. Thanks
Excellent! Thank you 🙏 yes the lowest was at 21° 😂
Thank you very much for the help

Nice but what about the standard thermostat ? How should I keep it, at how many degrees ??
Is that to make the radiators go on and off? Its not connected with the water heater is it?
When do you need to press the button with the moon n sun ?
Super helpful thank you!
Is the box, this box he talks about the actual thermostat? Does this control also act as the thermostat?
My IQ is 152 but I still can't get my heating on.
Thank you Just Gas Ltd chap.
What's the little button with the day/night symbol at the right-hand corner for?
Thanks but please make the preset timing clear i.e. Should the bottom slider be on Auto so heating comes on set times.
Does anyone know what the button at the bottom right hand side is for as he hasn't mentioned that? Thank you
Hi. Example..got temp set to 19..will the boiler start to heat at 18,5 or 18? Thx in advance for any help:)
Thank you - now sorted!
Excellent explanation. Thank you.
Fantastic as I never got any instruction from anywhere to tell me how it works
Thanks just what we needed to know
My clock not showing time when I am rotating ..Can you help please
Brilliant video but mine just flashes the time when I try to do anything, no matter what setting I have it on. Any ideas?
Thank you 😊
That was very helpful video..!
Very helpful thanks a lot 👍🏼
This was very helpful. But it took me hours to figure out how to replace batteries ! Also, what does the sun/moon button on the bottom right do?

Is there a 7 day programmable replacement for this 24 hour unit ?
Thank you for the explanation, this was useful.

it would be useful if it just had an on/off function. mine keeps turning itself off, absolute rubbish
How do put it on just for an hour for those occasional chilly evenings?
Turn the wheel clockwise so it's higher than the current displayed room temerature, the boiler should then start!
well explained nice and easy
the problem i was having was when i set the timing on A1 and A2 ,then went on run it didnt come on,but what u need to do is when u set the times u need to put the temperature at 25 or 26 to light the flame which kick starts it
What mode do I need to regulate it our self's without using programes
helpful video, thanks
How do I just turn up the heating normally I'm bloody freezing
Not bad explanation. However please think of those people who aren't it skilled. Can you explain energy saving modes, how to turn off in Summer etc?
Hi .how can I switch it off or on manually
Give me my old Honeywell on off thermostat anytime. Hate this thing. Engineer inisted this was the best thing since sliced bread. Each time my batteries needed changing my boiler system played up.
How do you set a different time for the weekend?
Why my home is setting off but the hitter still running ? 😢
Really helpful thanks
My thermostat isn’t heating the kitchen sink
What might be the problem
Would have been nice to have been advised about the advance function.

When I move the slider at the bottom, it doesn't change icon, it's stuck on auto no matter what.
cheers for the info.
Mine rarely changes screen when sliding through the different modes on the right, how do I fix this?
I've tried replacing the batteries.
Done all this. Still my heating won't come on
