      @@helenc8309 I imagine that it is coming back on because the house temperature has dropped to below the lowest set temperature. Before you go to bed just lower the temperature on your room thermostat to about 14 degrees and it should not come on unless your house is very cold. Hope this helps

    My first question is. While on the auto setting, does your boiler kick in at the time the programme is set too or will it learn your set times and heat your house so that it is that temperature at said times? I'm trying to figure out whether I need to set the times earlier so that my house is the temperature I want for certain times. For example, if i want my house to be 18 degrees at 7 am, I programme my time to 6 am. Second question: How long will my house stay at the desired temperature or does it just hit that temperature and turn off?

    • @Heatable
      @Heatable  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will only learn times on smart thermostats such as The Hive. The auto setting on this thermostat will allow your scheduled programmes to run. The best thing to do is test this and see if your house is at your desired temperature at the times you initially set it. It will hold the temperature until it has been scheduled to change temperature e.g to turn off and go down to 15 degrees.

    One big mistake is that you program Monday and than you copy Tuesday which is default setting and W,T,F, S ends up with default Tuesday setting.
    Once you saved Monday with +|- go back to Monday and copy Monday which is what you set and then save to rest of the week.

      Hi Debra, there are some issues with the thermostat which is why we don't currently sell them (and won't until they've resolved their issues). We recommend switching to EPH or ESi! Definitely report it to Worsley who own Center - will be good for them to hear how to improve the product for customers.

    @jmrussell53 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A good explanation and probably eminently accessible unless you are a thicko like me! But life's too short. Does anyone really want a complication like Center in their life? The manufacturer's instructions contain, in my opinion, far too many unexplained words. For example, on page two: ‘Optimisation Active: only displayed if optimisation has been enabled in the installer settings.’ So what does ‘optimisation’ mean and what are the ‘installer settings’?
    Or ‘Heat Demand’ - what does that mean? And what about ‘Room temperature is below setpoint’. What’s a setpoint? Possibly you know or can guess what a ‘setpoint’ is? I can’t. Nor do I know what a ‘Receiver Box’ is. but then I'm just an English teacher with a joint degree in English and History, so I don't stand a chance, do I!

    My old boiler had a dial fixed to the wall in the passageway. If I wanted the heating turned on, I turned the dial - nothing more. If the house became too warm I turned the dial down. If the temperature in the house fell below, say, 20 degrees, the heating would switch itself on automatically. It was simple and reliable. Just a dial on the wall. This boiler’s instructions mean that like so much else in this modern world, I am excluded. I am willing to believe that it might be superior to the old boiler - doubtless it has many new design features which cause the manufacturer to feel pleased with himself, but it is inaccessible to me and rather than giving me a warm and comfortable feeling and a warm and comfortable house, it makes me feel frustrated, excluded and, unspeakably angry. I would happily rip the boiler from the wall and chuck it in the dustbin if it hadn’t cost me almost two grand!

    So I think - I hope and pray - that I have switched the boiler off, apart from it supplying me with hot water - which by the way is too hot and scalds my hands!

    Instead I will rely on my two oil-fired heaters which only require being plugged into a wall socket and have a simple on/off switch. In the bathroom and kitchen I have fan heaters which exceed even the oil heaters’ operational simplicity.

    And if they fail, I have over a hundred candles stored away in a safe place - and matches galore, and if they fail I will rub two sticks together rather than attempt to understand the manufacturers' instructions for both this gadget and the boiler it is linked to.

    • @Heatable
      @Heatable  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mr Russel, we're sorry that we couldn't make the explanation any simpler for you. In the mean time, take a look at our article on how to turn your flow temperature down (so your water isn't scalding) heatable.co.uk/boiler-advice/boiler-flow-temperature. (It'll actually save you money too).

      @@Heatable I think the problem is that your instructions are written by heating engineers for heating engineers. You need to spend a little bit of money getting someone - possibly a teacher who is used to explaining things to children - to write the instructions. Heating engineers have the skills but that does not mean they can pass on their knowledge to the uninitiated - that also is a skill. But thanks for replying.

      Nah screw this you either learn and keep up or you just hide in your house using tech from ten years ago and feeling lost. Its actually quite ignorant to expect everything to be spoonfed to you. If your capable of using youtube comments your capable of googling what room temp is below set point means but to be honest common sense would explain that if a temperature of something is below a set point then clearly something was set and the temp has dropped below what was set. You yourself already explained a set point when you said when it dropped below say 20 degrees the heating would turn on

      You can change them by pulling the flap at the bottom of the thermostat down (the bit with the logo on).

    My controller seems to have lost the flame icon, which tells you whether the heating is on or not. Anyone had this problem or any ideas how to get my flame back?

      Have you already tried resetting the thermostat? This should usually reset the display as well.

      Thanks for replying...how do I reset it? I've checked the instructions and it doesn't mention it.

      @goldfinch8792 Your best bet is to remove the batteries, pop them in the wrong way and then wait for at least 10 seconds before putting them in the right way. This should usually reset your thermostat.

      @@goldfinch8792 At this point we'd advise popping it in rice... 😂😅(only kidding... that won't help either). Your best bet is to use the chat/e-mail function on Wolseley's website, I imagine they'll have dealt with this problem and be able to help.

    Why is there no battery level icon and why is it when the batteries are too low to connect to the receiver, the boiler activates the heating?

    • @Heatable
      @Heatable  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not too sure about why that might be, that's definitely a question for Wolseley who make the Center thermostats!

      If you press menu, select the settings menu by pressing up or down, and then select the 'tick' and up, it'll ask you to select the year, but keep pressing the up button to pass the year and the day option. It'll then bring you to the hour option. Adjust this accordingly then to set this, again, select the 'tick' and up button and repeat this same thing with the minute. You can then exit settings and return to the home screen once you have confirmed your changes.
