WHY DO THESE THINGS LOOK HUMAN...? The Devil Below Explained

- As humanity delved deeper into the Earth for resources, blasting would commence which arguably, would allow us to tap into veins of ore and metals we would never naturally be able to reach just by digging. As we went further and further, we would discover something. An attack would immediately be launched the miners who were sent down to pull out the resources. These creatures seeming have never come into contact with humanity and likewise, we havent with them. A war would be launched against them as a small town attempts to keep them contained. Which is a dumb idea lol but where doe these creatures come from and how did they evolve? And why do they look human? Lets discuss that in todays episode!

Hey man it would be' nice if you made a video on the moorwen from the movie outlander, his biology and how you think it evolved
Why
Hey bro, look up the 2011 movie " Perfect Sense" & the 2005 horror movie " Isolation." They'll give you great future videos. Please look them up.
Movie super 8 2011
so its Hunter Hunter

The whole "angler fish are eldritch abominations" is my favorite running gag- it's both hilarious and logical LIKE SERIOUSLY WHY DID THEY EVOLVE TO MATE LIKE THAT
Mostly because it's rare to encounter one of your kind in the deep, and rarer that it's the opposite sex. But yeah, I get you, they're FREAKY
They're so deep underwater that there's not much light at all. It's easier to just do the fusion dance than trying to find a 1 centimeter hole in the dark.

This reminds me of the chimera ants from the anime series Hunter X Hunter

Honestly bro, thank you for that shout out. Nobody stops to think about or appreciate the back breaking labor other people do to make privileged consumer-saturated lives possible. Those products, resources, and green tech don't just manifest on the shelves out of the blue, there's people grinding 60-80hrs to make it possible. It's a thankless profession, sometimes.
They got the sigma grind set
I can't wait to hear Roanoke talk about a movie that actually has an anglerfish creature as its main monster
he definitely has a thing for angler fish. we need to find a creature movie about it so he can talk about it later lmao
That’s what I’ve been saying
The Host has a giant mutant catfish, but that's the closest I can come up with off the top of my head.
Let's make one real quick with our i-phones
@@JohnDoe-zx1ckI’d say that too, but he’s already done that summary for The Host
That’s actually not an image of the super deep bore hole. The actual hole is only a few inches in diameter, and has a metal cap bolted over the top of it. It’s actually very interesting. The project only ended when the got so deep that the rock started behaving more like plastic than stone.
True but it doesn't look as good

I like the HxH Chimera Ant theory as well! A very interesting one and helps to explain a lot about possibly their origins, mannerisms, characteristics, etc. This was very well done, Thanks!
Fun fact about the borehole. Because of the heat and pressure at that depth the rock acted more like plastic then magma or solid rock which directly led to the failure of the drills they were using
So weird. So what, it just kinda gummed it up?
@@al145Kinda, imagine trying to drill through that hot mess you get before hard candy..... well hardens.
@@Lazarou101 those are both good analogies, doesn't matter how sharp your drill is when its gooey. I do woodworking, and occasionally do stuff with plexiglass and acrylics, and they sometimes melt slightly from the friction and stick to the drill bits. I'm picturing that but 100x bigger scale
Huh.
You learn something new everyday. Especially on this channel.
I saw a video covering this topic & the difficulties Around it. It covered this new possible drilling tech that uses high powered ruby Lasers that are able to bore a small hole & cauterize the walls of the hole. The thing is they are highly energy demanding. It's at least a possibility of a future advancement in bore hole drilling & dealing with the issues we've seen so far.. could help us tap into geothermal power in more locations around the globe.
As someone who lives in the Pacific NW, yeah, the Appalachian mountains are people's go-to spooky mountains for some reason, even though the Rockies, Cascades, and the Sierra Nevadas are all arguably FAR scarier if you're stuck out there in them.
European here , why is it scary out there ?
@@Rednekdash
The other mentioned mountain ranges are generally far more remote than the Appalachians, for starters. They're also bigger than the Appalachians, (at least the Rockies and Cascades are, dunno about the Sierra Nevadas) making them much harder to travel on foot and putting hikers and climbers more at risk of landslides, flash floods, etc. The Appalachians do seem darker at night because of the abundance of deciduous trees in the region that make a lower, thick canopy. The PNW on the other hand is mostly tall conifers and old growth, which lets a bit more light in through the canopy in most spots, but it can still get pitch black in the thicker woods, or on cloudier or foggy nights, which happens fairly often. The Sierra Nevadas are a whole other can of worms; less trees, not as creepy to look at, but if you're stuck out there in them, good fucking luck. Dehydration will be your worst enemy, but rattlesnakes, scorpions, and the generally inhospitable, rocky terrain will definitely compound your problems if you tackle them unprepared.
The Appalachians are literally older than bones.
@@Spinosaur101 I appreciate the time you took for explaining that to me.
I hope to see thoses landscapes one day
@@Rednekdashthe scary part about the appalachians isn’t the wildlife or the remoteness (though bears and some cougars don’t mess around) it’s more about the folklore, and living at the foothills of the range, they always feel like something is off. they are also super old and just generally feel unwelcoming
The idea of insects mating with humans is literally one of my greatest nightmares. I watched a few scenes from that giant bug anime and the scene of the women getting filled with eggs has left a permanent mental scar
Yep that would do it tho the next worst thing would be bug crawling inside of I either through the skin or mouth, nose, ears and even eyes that’s nightmare fuel
Me too! Except my fear started with me being jumpscared by tentacle/egg laying h*nt*i by a stranger online. I have luckily not seen any with bugs, so I count myself blessed.
The idea of a human being filled with eggs is so gross! We do have eggs, but it's the forceful implantation that grosses me out
Haha yeah wouldn't that just be terrible, to be filled with eggs and cocooned by some insect human hybrid, or maybe being restrained by some sort of female humam insect hybrid and milked for your seed to sire the next generation of her race, totally scary haha, how terrifying.

Discuss the fungal zombies in "Gaia". It was a surprisingly decent film about folks going nutters native in the woods amongst the awakening of a horrid, gestalt fungus.
Roanoke, your superpower is filling in the science holes of script writers and design artists. Have you ever thought of adding a plausibility rating to your videos grading the possibility the creatures you breakdown could even exist? Even doing like a quarterly round-up ranking/rating video might be cool if you ever want to add new dynamics to what you do. Love your vids, man. Keep it up.
That's actually a dope a idea👍🏽
Literally the best idea I heard in the entire month
Yeah I really love that!
His videos are already interesting. Just my option but those ratings, grading etc, i see so often in many youtube videos make them look cheap and hokey.
Love hearing how Indepth you explain creatures where as I immediately resort to the true blue method of man and use the modern rock thrower 9000 force multiplier that keeps us at the top.
Question for you Roanoke. Would it be hypothetically possible for a similar species or complex ecosystem to exist deep underground? I know this might require you to talk to some geologist, but it's for the likes!
There are many burying insects plus mammals that survived the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs were believed to have burrowed.
Wouldn't be the type of complex ecosystems you encounter on the surface thats for sure. I could see small ecosystems built from chemosynthesis bacteria, but oxygen would probably still be required for a bigger ecosystem like on thermal vents to evolve.
There are numerous underground and complex cave ecosystems. Not with more developed forms of life seen in the film, but as complex as anything in the oceans or surface.
Via the BBC and the legendary Sir Attenborough:
th-cam.com/video/NGtzSd3wFY4/w-d-xo.html
We have some sealed cave ecosystems in Romania so search for a documentary as a bite of food before Roanoke will maybe do it.
@@shadeymcbones6707 interesting. I like the idea of finding a "pocket ecosystem" somewhere in the Earth's crust, but I know that is very Hollywood! Lol

There is a film called Cold Skin if I’m remembering correctly that has aquatic humanoids and was wondering if you might cover that in the future. The movie gave me some Lovecraftian vibes mostly because of psychological horror throughout, but the creatures themselves were intriguing.
“Don’t put stuff in your borehole”
Sound advice. Incredible, even.
But what if you want create more boreholes? Certain boreholes need boring.
As someone who lives in deep rural Appalachia. It is scary. The thing to it is that unlike a range of large younger mountains... the Appalachia's are claustrophobic. And they feel old. That age is kinda what makes them scary. But I love them all the same.
they are some of the oldest forests and mountains in the world.
I don’t live in the Appalachias but I’ve visited many times and can always see them from were I live and there’s truly nothing cooler than seeing these ancient blue mountains looming in the distance it makes it feel like I’m being watched over
#1 rule of Appalachia: if you hear something in the woods, no you didn’t. Don’t investigate and just go on with your life. Unless your dog is in trouble, then rip and tear until it is done.
I low-key lose it every time you randomly say "angler fish". Love your videos!
Hes right. They're a terror.
Same!

It's ridiculous just how much this creature looks like a rubber Monster suit
Stay strapped or get clapped is definitely wise words to live by, Dr Roanoke.😂👍
I love seeing based scientists. Makes me feel better about our education system, shows they aren't all wannabe communists 😊
don't forgot "don't put stuff in your borehole"
The last guy there, if I'm not mistaken after having just watched this. His eyes had started to darken again, making me think he got stabbed and venom was kicking in again. In that case it makes sense to cut himself free. But yeah really a lot of these folks just couldn't want to throw themselves to their doom in the film! :D
A couple of the scenes where they are underground was actually filmed at a flooded limestone mine located in RRG kentucky. They actually offer kayaking tours through the mine and its pretty cool. If you are interested its called "The Gorge Underground"
There's a very interesting similar case to your most likely hypothesis in the anime Hunter X Hunter (2011) in it's final arc. The Chimera Ant arc is about a species of ant that incorporates the DNA of consumed species and the singularity event is the moment it successfully incorporated humans into the genome.
Don't know if you'd ever cover an anime monster species, but there's actually a lot of competent science injected into the material alongside the sci-fi and supernatural aspects.
There is a deep sea snailfish that uses DNA of dead fauna to repair there genome so it is very plausible.
> anime
lol, lmao even

The queen using genetic material to make her drones more powerful/adapted gives me HELLA Chimera Ant from HunterXHunter vibes.
I think that the queen is more like a hive of parasites that uses hosts to maintain them, similar to what goes on with the las plagas in resident evil or the movie "the cave"

I follow a small number of channels that do what you do. Bring real-world biology or psychology into movies and shows. Sometimes this can, for lack of a better word 'debunk' something. But sometimes it can add so much more depth to something that could so easily be taken at face value.
So Option 3 is just the Chimera Ants from Hunter x Hunter? I'd love to see an episode on them at some point, by the way.
Call me crazy... But "there was a singularity, i dunno, STFU." Has the EXACT SAME ENERGY as "i dunno, God made it all, STFU." Science and religion are in constant competition for "most obnoxious know it alls" amongst humanity. And im absolutely here for it.
The final option you described are basically the Chimera ants from Hunter x Hunter.
The vehicle chasing them that came to a gradual stop, looks like a grand Cherokee, or a grand Wagoneer, which is kind of like a grand Cherokee made by Jeep..
I could be wrong, but that’s what it looks like

I do like the idea of them blending dna. Like how Xenomorphs take on traits from the host that gets implanted. Though I am curious if the little monsters feed off of the queen like parasites or something... I doubt they had anything else better to eat before finding humans.
what’s that ringing noise that pops up every few minutes?? trying to play mind games? lol. love the content bro! keep up the great work!
If they're a combination of dna wouldn't that make them a major threat since they could absorb the dna of creatures that are a nightmare to deal with like mosquitoes and cockroaches
@@user-ye4bu6xh4c Flying smart vampire daggers does sound like a nightmare and a half.
Their probably too small, physically. The queen wouldn't probably even realize something is in here mouth to swallow it or probably just try to spit it out. They have no motivation to combine with species that are too small for sustain them nutrition wise.
The arsenal those townspeople are using against the monsters is adorable. It's rural America and the people have an immediate, pressing use for their firearms? Might as well be the army rolling up.
'Are these mountains scary to the average british person' Actually yes, yes they are. I've known a few british people and for some reason every one of them I've met seems to think that any place that isn't a major city is full of crazed gun toting lunatics that are just looking for an excuse to delete theme. The creatures remind me ALOT of the tunnelers from fallout new vegas, humanoid and using venom, they used to live underground until the ground was cracked by war and they went up, or some think they are mutated humans
