    The worst thing about SVU that I wish someone would talk about is how a lot of the good things you see these cops do is the work of a social worker. In real life no cop would ever do any of the work Benson or Stabler do.

    Yes I remember this episode when it aired! Still one of my favorite SVU things is them casually dropping graphic descriptions of the most depraved sexual violence imaginable only for the cops to go “This guy’s a real sick puppy, then.” with the dramatic weight of a paperclip

    I was at my grandma's the other day, helping her organize some new furnture and after we finished she was flipping through channels and settled on SVU
    I think this was a newer episode, the story was the son of some rich southern hog politician being convicted for killing his own sister who came to NY for an abortion, under the guise of a college visit. The shit ends with the millionth courthouse steps shooting of the series, the pro-choice activist that snuck the girl to the city gets smoked by some random pro-life protestor in a scene so suspenseful that my 80 year old nana called it like 5 minutes before it happened
    This was still somehow more coherent and enticing than that other copaganda show with Tom Selleck and the other Wahlberg brother everyone forgets about

      Blue Bloods, probably the most evil show in existence. My grandad used to watch it before he died, and every episode I caught of it was about ethnically homogeneous street gangs, always with one inexplicable pussy member that either rats to the cops when things go "too far", or gets killed, thus causing their previously "hard" brother and fellow gang member to also become a pussy and tattle to the cops.
      Every scene that wasn't about that, or the subsequent criminal trial, was the cop family having the most stereotypical Catholic Sunday dinners, where most of the dialogue centered around whether or not libs are tough enough on crime.
      If SVU is copaganda for mass audiences, Blue Bloods is copaganda exclusively for elderly shut-ins.

      @@ince55ant Sounds about right for the tiny islands off of Scotland... Pretty sure there's historical record of a clan of inbred cannibals either on one of them or near one on the coast. On a weird note, a bunch of people got mad at Power Rangers (Power Rangers SPD) for being "copaganda," yet some of them like SVU. The thing is, Power Rangers SPD does a far better job of exposing cop corruption, albeit on a very basic level, yet SVU always takes the cops side even when an episode highlights corruption.

    My most hated episode of SVU is "Trophy" (S12 E7), where the initial red herring suspect is a guy who got arrested for embezzlement, was given a serial rapist as a cellmate, and was raped and psychologically broken by that cellmate to the point where once they both get out, the embezzlement guy lets the rapist live in his apartment and helps him find women and cover up the crimes, all of it clearly under duress, but the SVU team shows him zero sympathy, mocks his fear of his rapist, and ultimately he's arrested when he snaps and murders said rapist.
    What makes this the worst episode, imo, is that the episode that precedes that one, "Branded", is about a woman who sexually assaulted and *branded* two men because they raped her when she was a teenager at a summer camp, and how Detective Benson goes out of her way to try to get the woman off of the assault charges.
    In the world of SVU, if an ex-con male rape victim is forced to do crimes under threat of violence by his rapist, who stalked him to his home and forcibly moved himself in, he deserves no sympathy, we'll mock him until he goes away for life for murder. But a female rape victim can go out of her way to track down her abusers, forcibly sodomize and brand them, and then suddenly the fact that she was raped matters in determining guilt or innocence.

    • @ChannelMath
      @ChannelMath ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually thought those episodes are about "oops! I guess us cops don't always get things right!", which isn't much better, I know

    • @howwitty

      @@ChannelMath Gender was a factor, but female recidivism being lower might be a factor in a similar real world situation. Cops don't give a shit about guys, but do they enjoy paperwork and going to court more? Maybe, if there are delusions of grandeur, they can have both the misandry and the special agent litigious status.

      It was good at first. The modern ones are unbearable. A woman gets harassed, then holds the guy at gunpoint? SVU gets there, charges the man for sexual assault, let’s the girl go with a hug for holding a guy at gunpoint and pointing a gun at the police

  • @condor237
    @condor237 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    New SVU is: woman harassed by man, holds him at gunpoint and tortures him, Olivia lets the girl put the gun on her, girl totally safe pointing a gun at police, girl gets a hug and gets to walk away no charges for kidnapping, attempted murder, pointing a gun at police. guy gets charged for sexual assault for something barely rising to metoo level, goes to trial but the he said she said leads to a not guilty. Girl comes back and shoots the guy at the courthouse, somehow, in full view of police
