American Suburbanites are freaked out that they'll be trafficked or killed by MS13, when its about 10 times more likely that they'll be abused and killed by their own relatives. They agonize over home invasions when a whole family being killed in a murder suicide or domestic violence incident is statistically more likely to happen. When I was working EMS I can say the scariest calls before Covid were the ones related to domestic violence. A dude in a wifebeater with a gun or attack dog is pretty damn scary. Not to say gang violence doesn't happen, of course it does. But in the US specifically, it doesn't effect these people who live in White Affluent neighborhoods.
