Electric bike S830 display settings explained (use closed captions)

- The S830 LCD display is very common in electric bikes. This video explains all the settings in practice. You can adjust several convenient settings with the help of this video. If you need to unlock the speed limit, change the P08 setting to 100.
If you want to get the maximum assist use these settings:
P08: 100, P09: 0, P11: 1, P12: 5
To make your bike legal in EU (excl. UK), use these settings
P08: 25, P09: 1, P10: 0,
The settings may not be the same in every bike. However, these are the most common ones
P01 Background luminance. 1 is the darkest, 3 is the brightest
P02 Unit of distance. 0 is KM, 1 is MILE
P03 System voltage 24V, 36V, 48V, 52v.
P04 Sleep time. 0 means the LCD screen will never go off for energy save mode, other numbers stand for the sleep time (1-60 min).
P05 PAS grades. First number sets the first start level ( 0 or 1)
P06 Wheel size. Unit: inch. Precision: 0.1
P07 Speed measuring magnet. Range: 1-100
P08 Speed limit. Range: 0-50 km/h, 100 means no limit
The limit set in Km,
P09 Zero start & Non-zero Start. 0 is Zero Start, 1 is Non-zero Start
P10 Driving mode. 0 is PAS only, 1 is Throttle only. 2 is PAS & Throttle.
P11 PAS sensitivity. Range: 1-24, 1 is the most sensitive.
P12 PAS start strength. Range: 0-5, 5 is strongest
P13 PAS magnet type. There are 3 types: 5, 8, and 12.
P14 The Current-limiting of Controller. The original Current is 12A. Range:1-20A
P15 Voltage cut-off, do not change
P16 ODO reset: Long press the upper key for 5 seconds and ODO will zero out.
Optional: P17 Power choice function from 250W-1000W.

It's clear like this. My l026 needs to use right brake and M button 5 sec. to save certain settings. Like max speed. Great bike!

The best i have seen so far. Thankyou. Will now set PO7 to 1 to get speedo reading which I have never had. How can you get a total factory reset to start from scratch?
Thank you! Unfortunately I have not found how to factory reset the LCD.
From the manual: P00: it is Reset all parameter Function:
Change the value as 10, then short press the “M” key, the screen will
Display all segment, then all parameter will reset to the original value
For P05 - what do you mean by - First number sets the start level (0 or 1)? So, what does 0 do? And what does 1 do?

Hello David, you can use the S830 as a charger for your phone. I'm not sure if it is possible the change the firmware via USB.
The S830 has several functions which aren't mentioned in this video.
I recently got a bike with the same controls and display but I cannot change the settings like you show it in the video, I can only change the display brightness and the speed limit, is there a reason for that? Is there a way to be able to change the settings?

i recently bought an electric bike with the LCD S830 installed.
I have been trying to change some settings in the configuration menu according to your video, but they seem to be locked and cannot be changed (for example P04, P05, P09 etc.).
Do you know how i can unlock these settings and make them customisable? That would be of great help!
I've heard some manufacturers lock their settings- I do not know if it can be unlocked without replacing the controller unit. I'm sure you can find the information from electric bike forums, try keywork Lectric XP

Do you measure and include the tyre in the wheel size settings or just the rim size please?
Default is rim size which probably includes some kind of outer diameter. You can use this paramter to calibrate the speed when comparing to GPS speed.

I have just replaced a stolen Samebike lo26 500W with the same model and am noticing some real differences in performance. The main problem is that the throttle gives me LESS power than the PAS. On my old bike I could happily ride along on the flat on PAS1 then hit the throttle if I came to a small hill and get more than enough of a boost to get up the hill without having to increase the PAS level. On my new bike I actually lose speed if I use the throttle. Thinking this had to be something that I could sort out by changing one or more of the settings, I was shocked to find that the only settings I can change are P01, P02, P08 AND P16. The others just refuse to change. Is there anything that I can do to change this or is it a faulty unit?
Also, the new bike has 12 positions on the left gear shifter. Surely there should only be 3 on a 21 gear bike? My chain comes off a lot more than I have ever experienced with any bike!
its all about the controller. I just had to replace mine as well as the screen ,its just not the same anymore. I'm just happy it works again after an E10 ERROR.
my voltage always reads double. no matter what i set the voltage (p3) at, 48v battery reads 96v, when fully charged. can i fix this?
If I caught it correctly, there was no difference in power from PAS level 5 to 9! Is that correct? Ever get it resolved? Thank you
I will try to clarify it a little bit. In this bike there is no advantage to use 9 levels PAS since there is actually only 5 different levels. 0&1=off, 1&2 same as 1, 3&4 same as 2, 5&6 same as 3, 7&8 same as 4, 9 same as 5.
And the difference between these 5 levels are the assisting max speed limit. In PAS 1 the limit is ~16kmh, 2 is ~22kmh, 3 ~25kmh, 4 ~ 29kmh, 5 ~32kmh. This varies a little bit and depends on the battery voltage. When the battery voltage is lower, also the speed limit is lower.

I want to change P12, but it does not let me change the values. Is there an unlock sequence to do this. Multiple parameters are locked though
Some models may have parameters locked. You probably have to change the controller to unlock parameters.

I have a cmacewheel y20 which has a 750w motor.
On some off road rides I find it too powerful... can I reduce the power say to the equivalent of 400-500 W ?
The display is similar , not the same as the s 830 ... which I have on a ‘samebike’
you should be able to lower the strength of motor kick in. If it has same parameters then set the P12 and P14 to lower values. More info in this video.
Thanks for this my s830 LCD was messed up, but p15 has no use on mine. P7 should it always be at 1 because on the manual is says 47 for direct drive and 86 for geared hub. So just to clarify its definitely 1?. By the way my magnet sensor has 7 should I put it to 8.
P7 depends on the controller and the motor. You should use the value instructed on your manual. P13 should be approximately the same value as the amount of magnets, in your case 7 is the closest.

The top speed depends on the battery voltage, controller output and the motor power. In this bike the maximum speed is about 32kmh (16mph).

This depends on the bike. The default values for this bike are shown in the video.
Any way to Increase the canadian version past p0 2? It doesn't go higher than that due to regulations. Something In the controller I can do?
all i have is throttle no pedal assist on my xdt valk bike can some how help? im pretty sure its something in the menu so if some one knows how to completely reset it back to stock that would be so helpful

Can you explain to me why I cannot change some parameters on my bike? I want to change the P10 parameter but it's locked on 2. I have a Bezior M26 that I think is the same components as the Sam Ebike.
Some bikes have the parameters locked. There might be some way to unlock them though.

The most convenient setting is 5
Set P18 to 150 and P5 to 2 increases PAS levels from 5 to 9. This will increase your speed to over 35 mph

Some LCD’s have locked parameters. You might need to change the controller to unlock it.

P11 PAS sensitivity. 3:46 Higher value means you have to peddle longer before the motor activates.

mine is all over the place, I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to do, or if it's even faulty.
Whty is the battery display flashing and showing empty? it's literally fully charged. Why doesn't it show my speed? Seriously this is impossible without clear instruction.

This model does not have a clock feature.
@@mysteriouschinapackets1728 mine does. Cycle though pressing M and it the last one. Buggered if so can figure out how to set the time.
@@andrewhutchinson3071 Seems to be that some S830 models have also clock, though I didn't find any info how to to set the clock time. My best guess is to press up and down at the same time or you could also try pressing UP+M or DOWN+M
@@mysteriouschinapackets1728 I was kinda wrong, is a timer for current session not a clock, so nothing to set as it goes back to 0 when the trip does... Evertime I saw it was at the end of a ride and it didnt click it was a timer not a clock.
@@andrewhutchinson3071 Yes, it has a trip meter (time and distance of the current run) which I find very useful. It automatically resets it every time the LCD turns off.

If you mean it's not perfectly centered, the camera perspective might make it look a bit off centered.
You were right. It was actually few millimeters off-centered.

How to make your bike run at a steady continuous spped
If you mean cruise control without pedaling or pressing throttle it's not possible without hardware modifications
When you reach your desire speed with the throttle press the down arrow for a few seconds...this activates cruise control...if you do it at walking pace it activates walk mode 6kmh
