Queen Elizabeth Racing in @ 1976 saw you cheering on the yacht racing from there. Great days for you maybe ahead hopefully. Cynthia A Phillips / Welch / Pruitt

Ted Turner did not win in 1974. He only won in 1977 with Courageous. In 74' Bob Bevier was first skipper/helmsman replaced mid season by Ted Hood.

I think the narrator got confused because Courageous ITSELF won in both years and he just assumed Turner must have also been the skipper the first time. (Obviously it was harder to check facts 45 years ago, though.)

@@zoepaulastrassfield2664 Yes I agree. And I see that I misspelled Bob Bavier.

" A BEAUTIFUL SAIL BOAT AND MAKES A GREAT CONTRAST TO THE PRESENT DAY COMPETITION.".... I hate what has become of the America's Cup....the 12m era marked the end of magnificent sail boats, magnificent seamanship and magnificent sailing. Damn I miss it.

"If you think that this sport is only for the wealthy, you are mistaken"
This is a pretty obtuse statement... certainly at America's Cup level, it's all about wealth and money. In varying degrees, other levels as well. If a person of modest means wishes to engage in the sport, they either purchase and campaign a modest boat, ie., a dinghy, or they crew on a larger boat with an owner who can afford to campaign it.

Hi thanks for your input. It would have been a little more positive if you had thanked the 20 year old laddie who chose to pick up a camera now some 40 plus years ago so that you could share his perspective of the day!

It does rather undercut the message to hear it said in the poshest British accent imaginable. When I finished this video I was spontaneously wearing a navy blazer and a monocle.
