And now we have crazy mixes of cultures, west and east. We have German, Swedish and Russian churches everywhere. I find it cool. p.s. by the way we have 2nd fastest internet connection in the world, even we are not so rich.

I was at the World Juniors game between USA and Latvia. The tournament was in Canada (Saskatchewan) and the fans were really behind Latvia the whole way (other than when Canada played them ;) ). Latvia lost 12-1 against USA but when Latvia scored against the Americans, all 12,000 people in the stadium went nuts! They cheered for Latvia like it was Canada that had just scored against USA. Go Latvia!
When I took my children to Sweden on holiday last year, I was depressed by it. On a normal day in Sweden no one smiles. If you do smile, people look at you as if you're trying to steal their wallet.

If you were not aware, the internet speed statistics are different from one source to another, but Latvia is in the TOP 5 of every single one of those statistics and that's good enough. I don't see how Latvia's location in the Baltic States has anything to do with its internet speed. We are in world's TOP 5 when it comes to internet speed and that's all that matters, plus - internet is VERY cheap here, you can easily afford the best connections & you get a lot of nice stuff in package.
