The shower closet is ingenious your dad its remarkable how he came up with that. You know a lot of people are probably going to be doing that now because of your dad. safe travels💛
The only thing w that is it could get moldy/musty quick if the closet is shut right after a shower. It be important to let that shower area to COMPLETELY dry 1st

Putting an exhaust fan through the bathroom roof to pull air into the space and shoot it out of the van would solve that problem.
They have been doing this closet design in Euro vans for a number of years. Rapidio Dreamer Camper Van XL is one off the top of my head.

Me too! I asked a few different people if it was possible to do and I was told no every time due to weight. Her Dad should patent this idea!
because most van dont install shower in there, they use outdoor shower or go to the gym
you are basically introducing a moist problem for indoor shower
weight is not an issue, you can just use that as a snack cabinet

The hanging closet insert that folds into the shower is a brilliant very special design and the converted bed table space made it very spacious I am impressed.
That closet/shower is hands down the most unique and practical innovation in a van conversation ever. I’d think it would become standard equipment from now on on all van showers.
that outdoor shower setup is the bomb. Doubles as a faucet. Single install, dual use. Smart gal.
The concealed closet / bathroom is a game changer, I was thinking along these lines but was considering a slide out , the swing out version is just as simple and keeps the passageway clear. It will work well with my design which is a full bathroom across the width of the van, shower one side and toilet the other side with two doors that pull across the passageway to make it one enclosure - the same swing out closet idea could be incorporated on both sides.

I am also wondering if a slide out wouldn’t work really well. Of course, the layout would need to be a little different and it might be able to slide out over open counter space or over a seating area. I’m not sure how to the sliding tracks though… still some problems that need some more thinking.

I've only seen the closet shower combo done twice, neither was this brilliant. The others just had a sliding closet rod at the top, that slid out into the "hallway", but this design keeps the clothes dry. Just amazing!!

A armoire closet with drawers that slides to access the shower. So when your done showering the armoire closet slides back in place. Genius. OMG! So awesome.

I love the closet/bathroom idea. I have been gathering ideas for a build & keep thinking how the bathroom is wasted space when not in use but that it would work well as a closet except for the hassle of taking whatever is in there out each time. This is a perfect solution.

My first thought was the slanted overhead cabinet is ingenious. But then saw the shower wardrobe and that really is incredible! Well done to both you and dad for coming up with those for the wonderful van build

This is the BEST BUILD I've ever seen! Definitely what I'd want if I ever go to this kind of living. When mulling and fantasizing, I was thinking I'd WANT the option of an indoor or outdoor shower So that with a composting poop half to a toilet and a way to drawing the pee side would be ideal. I wouldn't ever to actually flush poop. Your design is my FAVORITE. I'm saving this video to keep for ideas.
The closet/restroom is so awesome! And, love your exterior table and tool box. Dad did a great job helping you get everything important organized. Great way to save money since you are always on the go. Have a great life!

I've been watching van builds for a while now, and that closet design is one of the most innovative I've seen recently. Big props to dad Ben for the ingenuity.

I'm a Dad and I came up with the same idea for a van conversion for my daughter, lol. I figured the shower space was not in use 99% of the time so you can use slide-out shelves to utilize that space. Your Dad's implementation is really well done and shows his craftsmanship.
FOr those that already have builds done or who don't have the skill to build the cabinet, you can simply put a closet rod across the top of the shower and lift the whole rod and transfer it to a rod holder in the hall or behind driver's seat when you want to shower or use the toilet. That at least transforms your shower into a hanging locker and requires no building other than installing some screw in rod holders and cutting a rod to length. You can put a screw in each end of the rod so you won't easily dump your clothes while moving it (hangers won't slide off if you accidentally tilt the rod a little)

I didn't think that I could ever live in a van, but I'd have no problem living in a van like yours! I was looking at schoolies but the van would be much easier to drive. Love, love what you and your dad built. The shower/closet/toilet needs a patten, and instructions sold. It's genius!
