The aesthetic is cute, but for practicality I feel there was a lot of space that was was wasted and could have been utilized. Bottom bed doesn’t seem so sturdy and quite small as well. Also the upper bed is quite loud when it comes down, compared to others I’ve seen. Cute or very pretty aesthetic, but not the best use of space.
Well that really depends on how you define practicality. I think what you meant to say is that for your needs, this layout wouldn't be practical and that's totally fine! All of our builds are custom to what a client wants and needs so for this client they wanted the space to feel open, not cramped and they wanted the opportunity to entertain or put chairs in the front area. They also needed to store bulkier items like kayaks and bikes so leaving flexible space was important. Do bed lifts need to be quiet? Typically, you only use them when you're awake.
My biggest problem with nearly all builds (bus/van/tiny house/etc) is that the self-built bench/couch is not deep enough. Uncomfortable¹⁰. Especially if they're high (which they generally are), it hinders circulation and that's at the very least unpleasant. I wish they wouldn't make them so disproportionate. Otherwise nice!
Great minimalist layout. I like the foyer. The first thing I want to see in a van build is the bathroom. Also it seems to be designed for privacy because we can't see the bedroom from the outside. The bed lift system is nice. I could do away with the little dinette in the back. With the bed lifted I could put a motorcycle in the back. In the bathroom I'd put an incinerating toilet. I like the way the galley was setup. Eyelevel fridge is perfect. I'd put a microwave where the battery generator is located.
I think its rather nice and elegant looking. Also, in my humble opinion, it's hard to judge as to if there was space wasted. Because the clients belongings aren't in here at this time. Also if it was done for the client's needs and specifications, that's what matters here. Some people lead very minimalistic lifestyles. Therefore this would be perfect for those people. A van build is more for one or two people and perhaps a small pet or two to begin with. For a married couple with kids and several pets, a bigger rig would be a must. As long as the client is happy, that's what is important. 👍👍
Thank you! Love your understanding that wasted space is subjective. We felt there was a lot packed into a small space with the bed lift while still leaving a good amount of open room in the front. Appreciate your comment!
I’ve been watching a bunch of van build videos and I really love this layout. Definitely different with having that wall next to the door that houses the fridge and battery but the storage spaces next to it is definitely a plus!
Since you made it at request of a client, I'm sure it's absolutely perfect. I think it's great. I would love this, it's just perfect for me. I love the bathroom set up. love the door to the front seats. the only changes I would have is a much thicker seat/bed area and the slats pull outs under the seats. tyvm for sharing this unique build.
Unusual but nice build and layout. I am looking forward to the video on the jackery hybrid system. I have a Bluetti EB200 that I’d like to use to power my entire shuttle bus. Also have a Jackery 1000…
This was a really nice van. I've never seen a cedar shower. Awesome. The bed lift was clever. If there was just a bit more headroom, you could get 2 bunks in there. But this was built for a person who wanted it this way. All depends on what your needs are. It was a beautiful build.
As a bigger person with a bit of mobility issues the idea of more space appeals to me. Seeing as it's custom made then obviously each person will like diff things.
looks good but … From a shower without plumbing to a dinette with narrow seats and a huge foyer with a standing desk… I think is a weird layout Would love to see what the van looks like after the client(s) move in and put all their stuff in there - hopefully is for short trips and weekend use only :)
That table converted into a bed looked a little sketchy. Notice the way she got onto it and the material was folding. Drop bed looks great. Not sure how tall she is or the new owners... That bed doesn't look very long (head to toe)
Hi. This layout was created by & the client and it’s for weekend getaways. They didn’t want to deal with grey/black water tanks and asked for a wet room for solar bag showers. Benches are standard seat depth.
@@bula001 we didn’t have the table fully secured during filming so I was just being careful. The material is 3/4” inch plywood with 2 inch high density foam, batting and a water resistant fabric so it’s pretty durable! Can understand why you thought otherwise based on the video though. And I’m 5’6” and fit comfortably on the bed, plus if you utilize the window bump outs you could fit my partner who is about 6’. Let us know of any other questions!
I look forward to the video on how y’all wired up the electrical system. A hybrid of a “plug-n-play” system like the Jackery with traditional wiring is how I would like to do my system.
As the owner I can tell you it has an amazing amt of space. I don’t live full time in it, but for road trips and camping. There is room for my kayak and bicycle. I wanted a minimalist design that I don’t have to winterize. It’s perfect and fun.
I really like it. The client can customize and use put lots of personal stuff and details in the ‘entryway’. BUT a sliding door would have made it perfect because now nothing can be placed in the way of it. I like the shower bag idea. But 250 lb weight limit on bed is sketchy for sure.
That is a beautiful build. How much would it cost to have plumbing added for a hot shower ? What is its total cost ? Did the customer need to find the vehicle used ?

The fact that it sleeps four if needed also needs seat belt for two more people somewhere?. Would have to have shower plumbing. No freezer. I like the back and drop down. Wonder why no one makes a bottom bed like you have but use the head space for a loft, for storage. I have never seen one done. I know this was custom, but mine would use up front space for extra seats or extra anything.
Hi! Thank you so much 😊. This is a 159WB high roof. At some point we’ll do an electric video but if you have specific questions please shoot us an email. Thanks!
We traveled with our 115 lb dog and have a lot of learnings! Good idea on a video. Definitely prioritize windows & dedicated pet space so they feel safe and comfy.
Love the van. I would want plumbing on the shower and move that battery to under the bench…. Otherwise pretty good!! There could be a better way to have that front table be accessible to the outside. ❤
Thanks so much! And definitely possible! All vans are based on clients preference, so if we built one for you, we could make all those things happen :).
Hi there! Cost is super dependent on clients order. As an example for this one we handled things like finding & purchasing the van and delivering it to Idaho. If you’d like to know more about pricing please shoot us an email and we can give you an estimate based on your needs! Thanks so much
If you seat on the edge of the bottom "bed" that thing will break which is why you sat very gently and made sure you lay down at the center of the bed. Very bad design and wasted space

the new owner had a bunch of cooking appliances like toaster oven, jet boil, coffee maker so we provided electrical outlets on both sides of the kitchen area to plug those items in.
This is the clients design. Not the builders. The clients asked for all of it. Everyone is different. And I doubt you would have to put the table down to use the bed. Anyway, to each his own😁
Actually it was very comfortable. In addition, we planned for extra space with the window bump outs where you can place your pillows for extra room. The new owner is almost 5" shorter than I am and since it was built custom for her, it works perfect.
Seems like a load of wasted space in this design, but maybe the woman wants an open area to change clothes? Couldn't figure out why you'd have an "entryway."
Some haters in these comments. It's custom made according to what the customer wanted.
GREAT JOB ON THE VAN!!!
Nailed it! Appreciate the kind words!
One of the best conversions of this van type i have seen!
I like this van. Finally a van that doesn’t almost block the entire entry way. Lovely build.

maybe it’s not for full time living ; the bed seems too short for the lady even.

yeah kitchen is way too big

So much wasted space but if it’s not for full time living you could manage with the limited storage space. You would have to be an extreme minimalist
I think its perfect
I rather waste some space than to live in a van that looks cramped because every inch was used.
You don’t need as much of the stuff as you might think.

Fantastic styling. Question: is it hard changing lines or backing up, when trying to see the back/right side of the van?

Wet room? Simple plumbering will do for a barhroom. Will regret later for not having ready water.
Pro's and con's to both ways. It is up to the driver and owner of the van what they want to manage.
