Criminal trespassing means jail time. When you are asked to leave from the owners of the property and you don’t it’s a criminal violation, you have to leave. What’s so surprising to people?

What a joke. A third-year law student has no knowledge of the basic elements of trespass. She may have been invited to the Dean's residence but once consent has been revoked by the homeowner, she must leave and reasonable force an be used to evict her from the premises. I did not see any excessive use of force by the Dean's wife. There is no First Amendment Right of free speech in someone else's home. Protest outside on public property. If you don't have basic knowledge of the law then don't say you are 3L and you have consulted attorneys.
so then why were they invited ? what was the purpose of this invitation? make these students accept the fact that Palestinians need to die in Gaza? They were probably invited for a discussion, and these young students did not hesitate to exercise their freedom of speech rights. Isn't that simple enough? She did not trespass at all. Everything would be fine she just sat there and accepted the fact that Palestinians need to die in Gaza by Israel and US made bombs. They got angry because she did the opposite and said things they did not like to hear.

I am pretty sure this invitation was not intended to be political. It was simply a celebration for graduating students, not for invitees to spout their political beliefs, which not every ode agrees with. Stand outside on the street and express your opinion. You have no First Amendment right to express controversial views in someone else’s home, especially after you are asked to leave. Once asked to leave it was pure and simple trespass. She is lucky police were not called.

Berkeley Law School still has John Yoo, author of the torture memos, teaching law students. Berkeley didn't care about that, and protected Yoo. Nothing new here - UC Berkeley Law School has always taught that providing legal services to the powerful is the best way to achieve power and money.
