@@2271graham Oh damn. I had been suggesting that Manny Coto should be given another chance to produce a new Star Trek series as Ent season 4 was at least watchable (I don't care for the previous seasons). So sad to hear that that is no longer possible :(
@HotRod84 I guess you haven't been paying attention to what's going on. Trek is not being made for everyone, let alone the long time fans. They have thrown away 60 years of canon, in order to promote their woke agenda. Making men weak and women super strong, race and gender swaps, and complete disregard of what's come before. Watch the video, might learn something!
@Pulse_tachyon That's just it. I really didn't enjoy how mentally handicapped Riker was in Season 3. I didn't buy for a moment that there was bad blood with that crew. I didn't come back for a getting the band back together for long melodramatic therapy sessions and prostate jokes. Season 3 succeeded on the strength of the cast's performances - even given what they had to work with. All that being said I think Matalas is a genius compared to Kurtzman in understanding what the core Trek ethos is.
@ericmci , I think Terry Matalas used season 3 of Picard to lay the foundations for Legacy. Let's just hope it happens. At least Terry Matalas, unlike JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzman, is a REAL Star Trek fan and I would be delighted if he returned as Showrunner for Legacy.
@ Why do toxic extremists feel this constant need to create lies about Star Trek creators. They are all fans. You don't get to tell them that they aren't.
@@DavidHHH99 You don't get to prove that they are either. If you don't think that some people just work a genre because it's business, then I have to say you need to be less naive.
If Skydance plan any Star Trek output. I want them to forget everyhing post 2009 and remove Secret Hideout from the picture. They should start with a completely new slate, and not try to retool what we already know is trash. With a new owner we should have a new start for the franchise. Otherwise we are making no progress.
Seriously, if Kurtzman doesn't want to let go of the IP, Skydance should just let him keep it and cut him loose. Do not empower and reward him by giving him any more money for it. Better to have no more official Trek than the horrible slop of Kurtzman Trek.
They don't care what you want. They care what they actual fans who are watching the shows want. That's not you. That's why you don't understand that they're not going to do ANY of what you are saying you want.
@@johnnemesh5459 really, I'm more interested in a new production team. Better secret hideout is still not as good as the shoes before for me. If they get a new vision I'll check in.
Alex Kurtzman is hurt you so badly that you think Picard season three is acceptable rather than atrocious, just less atrocious than what came before. Absolutely nothing he has done even approaches the realm of acceptability. It makes me puke to say it but Seth MacFarlane should have the job
Why would they give the show to someone who's own attempt at something similar was canceled twice for low ratings? They gave him a second chance because the company wanted to keep him happy and keep him making Family Guy and the rest. So, they moved it to Hulu, where it didn't need to get as many viewers, and it still managed to fail there. Maybe if the show's fan base weren't so angrily toxic, the rest of fandom might have given the show a chance. But no one wants to be part of that toxic stew of anti-social "fans". You brought this on yourselves.
Discovery Season 1 was their first chance, Discovery Season 2 was their second chance, Picard season 1 was their third chance, Discovery season 3 was their... you get the idea. They've had so many chances to fix it, but failed miserably on every single occasion (and I don't care for Picard Season 3, it's still this same Kurtzman-verse garbage). Give Secret Hideout another contract they'll deliver the same stuff all over again, because regardless of the inordinate canon issues, and continuity blunders and 25% differences here and there, the basic writing of NuTrek has been some of the worst writing in TV history.
I love old Trek. But it can’t live in the past if it wants to survive. We’ve had some top tier Trek these last few years. I remember everyone hating Berman back then too,
I’m relieved to see someone else recognize that even “ST:Picard” season 3 is just more of the same NuTrek. That season just feels better(?)…less bad…than other recent Trek because of all the nostalgia. Yes, it’s great seeing the cast back together on the old ship, but it’s still banana-pants how they got there, and the main setup for all of it is a major cut-and-paste of the David Marcus situation from “Wrath of Khan.” I know Picard is older, but they missed a major opportunity to show him doubling down on his interests in archeology or even astrophysics, music, literature, etc. He always resisted the vineyard life, and *that’s* what they showed us?!? Granted, he got into space eventually, but then it was just Borg stuff over and over again. There was more to Picard than his attachment to the Borg.
Star Trek kurtzman need to go. I am tired of watching Star Trek with eight episodes of BS. The story is the plot and the finale. Star Trek never had this
Ok if they put Disco and SNW, Academy in a separate universe. Also put Prodigy Lower Decks and Picard season in the prime universe AND give Paramount ownership of the Prime universe shows (SH can keep ownership of their universe) that might work. IF Kurtzman is a producer in NAME ONLY. Let him go do other stuff that he is actually good at.
The problem though is that Lower Decks characters' have more or less said that SNW is their past, especially since Tendi's grandmother was on that Orion ship in the crossover episode.
@@vegeta50024 well you could easily ignore that. Or for an in universe reason you can say by traveling back in time Lower Decks created an alternate reality for SNW. Same way Spock created the Kelvin universe in Star Trek 2009.
@@ericcousino2068 I dislike the alternate reality scenario. I get that people hate everything for one reason or another, but playing the altternate reality card just complicates things more. They need to make things SIMPLE, not MORE complicated.
Matalas is _no savior,_ because he laced peehard season reeee with the _exact same_ flavor of memberberries that Kurtzman ordered in the first place... just in a much-higher concentration. Putting the beloved TNG cast in there was _no different_ from bringing in DeLancie just to kill-off an immortal character, or bring-in Goldberg for -even more DEI- reasons. The end of Classic Star Trek _remains to this day Star Trek Nemesis_ (which I hated) and _Star Trek Enterprise_ (which I loved). _Fuck_ Matalas and his Hail Mary; it still failed.
Marvel Studios has already shown how to do all this with their Disney Plus and Netflix shows. You cancel ALL the shows, and then pick and choose the bits of those shows that you like and bring them back into canon. Marvel just glosses over the finer points and ignores the details, which most of their fans are okay with. Trek already has built-in tools (alternate universes, time-travel, Q, Nexus etc) - all integral parts of the canon that are almost purpose-built to aid retcon's (Marvel has that as well but their fans are way less Canon-obsessed and will happily overlook inconsistencies that Trek fans won't.) Depending on how bad the contracts with Kurtzman are ( who owns the IP of the NuTrek dross?) Skydance should be able to cherry-pick the stuff they want to keep. If the previous rights-holders have screwed the contracts and Kurtzman owns NuTrek storylines, then they should just wipe it all out and start again. Honestly? Even the stuff in NuTrek that IS popular (Lower Decks, SNW) isn't so amazing that they need to keep it. Write it off as an alt-reality and just start over.
Exactly which Marvel shows were canceled? They were designed to run one season. Stop listening to extremist lies. Paramount owns all rights to Star Trek. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a lying extremist trying to radicalize fandom.
It IS an alternate universe. In the PRIME Universe, Christopher Pike has the face of Jeffrey HUNTER, and the Klingons of that era have SMOOTH foreheads.
I really don't think there's any chance at all of Discovery and Academy being categorised as being in another universe. The Lower Decks thing was a joke and means nothing. The ships kept changing into other ships in the *prime* universe. It's just another kind of Klingon, I really, really don't think it was any kind of hint. Love the channel and appreciate your insight, but unless there's something you're not telling us that a source has told you, I think this one is way off.
Correct. McMahon has already explicitly publicly said this! There's no actual insight on this channel. It's just a grifting toxic extremist spreading lies for clickbait. Everything he says here are lies.
Personally I've (mostly) really enjoyed SNW and Picard. I only lasted about 10 minutes into lower decks before I yeeted it from my living room, never to return. The only issues I really had with SNW were the episodes that tied into lower decks, and the fucking musical insanity episode. Neither of which I could stomach watching. Picard is, for me, the best ST to date. I can't speak to discovery because I haven't watched it.
New Trek has improved. Prodigy has been great. SNW has been a major improvement from Discovery. Picard S3 was better than S1 and S2. Not particularly looking forward to Academy but I'll give it a fair chance.
Personally, Star Trek for me runs from 1966 to 2005 and it went downhill from 2009 to present. There is no hope and optimism with Star Trek anymore and Secret Hideout needs dumped. Isn’t the word prime was invented by JJ Abrams for Star Trek 2009 to deceive people and fans? Maybe just call it original or classic Star Trek instead. I think Star Trek needs a break again. Can we bring back Rick Berman to save Star Trek? He is still alive along with other writers from TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT along with new writers?
The animated treck is better both have hope and although the wrighters of lowerdecks prodagy and Picard S3 need to have talked to each other as they all had a networkd fleet attacking itself as plot points 😂
This is why he's going to remain. You don't watch the shows. Your toxic opinions are irrelevant. They only care about the millions of actual fans who are actually watching the shows.
@@anothergalaxys4780 I do. So do tens of millions of people. Strange New Worlds and Discovery with among the top 10 shows on all of streaming television. Something that none of the classic Trek shows ever accomplished.
Maybe I misunderstood, but isn’t everything since 2009 integrated into the Kelvin timeline? Why is this a revelation now regarding Discovery, wasn’t it always part of Kelvin? Is it even possible to make “prime” Trek without the cooperation of cbs studios?
No, literally none of it is. The Kelvin timeline is ONLY in the movies. ALL of the shows, old and new take place in the Prime (i.e. original, first) timeline/universe. Paramount owns the rights to ALL of Star Trek.
I just came over from Plastic helmet man's channel & he's reported on the same thing you have regarding the consultant group, but he said it was more of an audit. He also said that they recommended resetting things to around the time of Enterprise. A thing that I keep in mind with him though is that a lot of the time, he tends to fill in information with what he wants to happen, rather than what MIGHT be happening. All of Kurtzman Trek, even Season 3 has been bad to him & he wants to see it all gone. Personally, I would want Skydance to try and keep the good will that they have with the current fans as they try to bring back the older fans into the mix. If they dropped all of Secret Hideout's Star Trek, they actually WILL lose the fans that they have now, since there is not going to be anything for people to look forward to.
@@vegeta50024 i think that's really the heart of the problem. The fan base is splintered enough that they will have to choose between the groups. Aside from some of Picard season 3, I'm uninterested in any continuation. I doubt I'm alone. I don't think any attempt to reunite the fan base would really work. Either nutrek is in the mix or it isn't. If it's included I'd rather wait for the next reboot to check in (hopefully with a new production team). But, you are probably right that ditching nutrek would lose support among new fans. It's a terrible hole to dig out of, and I don't know there is a way to really fix it. Trek management botched Nutrek to the point that you can't please everyone. I don't expect they'll make a Trek that is what I'm interested in anytime soon. They aren't required to and don't owe me anything. However, I'm not required to watch, subscribe or purchase merchandise. It's not spite. It's apathy. There are shows I'd rather watch more and current Trek doesn't inspire me like it used to.
That's because this is an organized network of extremists who spread the same lies. And their fans seem to be under the delusion that a toxic TH-camr saying something they want to hear is evidence that it's actually happening. Literally NONE of this has happened, and none of it is happening, and none of it is going to happen. These are toxic lies spread by extremists to try to make you angry enough to be radicalized. it's sad that you're gullible enough to fall for it. I'd hoped that Star Trek fans were smarter than that.
@@nodansland303there are hardly any new fans. And the ones that do exist have no money. They need to pay attention to the fans that collect things, go to movies, conventions, and buy the merchandise.
If Skydance has some common sense to want Profit and Paying Customers. They Should Deny and Let Alex Kurtzman Contract End with the Shame he is so He will have no more control to ruin Star Trek.
Absolutely spot-on about the BRILLIANT Terry Matalas, who INDEED walks on water. I'm sure you'll therefore agree with my previous comment that the Skydance bosses should move Heaven and EARTH to persuade Terry to return to the franchise with the promise of FULL creative control and a massive salary hike to boot?
There are just too many interactions between the different Nu Trek series to say this chunk is Nu Trek Universe and this chunk is Prime. But I do think they are going to try and fix the mess they made out of canon. So maybe the Discovery Klingons are still Prime, but caused by an interaction with another universe, and Strange New Worlds explains the differences between SNW, TOS, and Enterprise Gorn for example.
It's quite straightforward, REALLY. SPOOF TREK: Same OLD Worlds, Same OLD Civilisations are set in a completely different Universe as 1. The legacy characters in that universe don't have the faces of Jeffrey Hunter, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, and Majel Barrett, and 2. The Enterprise of that Universe looks more advanced than VOYAGER, and the KLINGONS of that Universe couldn't have been infected by an augment virus as they have retained their forehead ridges.
There's nothing to fix. Successful shows need to move on into the future, rather than fixating on the past to please angry toxic "fans" who will never be happy anyways.
They sould cancel Star Trek for several years so that secret hideout doesn't get any money, which does mean they'll have to remove it from streaming services.
@@kommandantvhs4994 honestly, given the current fan base divide stopping production and waiting 5+ years might let a new crop of fans emerge and some interest grow. I'd rather they did something now so they could include the characters I like while they can. But, for the long term washing their hands of both sides of the fan base for the moment might free them up in future.
The field has been thoroughly salted. I don't think they'll get a harvest out of it. And using earth from the salted field on a new field doesn't sound like it would be good for the new field.
I think they were already in pre-production/late development on Academy and didn't have the budget for another show. Plus, they probably had an eye to the aging fan base.
There's also the supposed issue that Kurtzman WANTED to do Legacy, but Skydance/Paramount are holding him back from it. Either that, or Kurtzman indeed doesn't want to do it because its what fans want, but he wants HIS stuff to be what people want.
Honestly wouldn't rust them, they could be only temporarily trying to steer the ship to appease Skydance and once they get the extension Kurtzman could just retake the helm.
@@DavidHHH99 You missed the point completely. I tried typing it out in full detail but it came up to about four paragraphs and most likely wouldn't even be read so I'll just say that people will do anything to keep hold of something that makes money, once it's secured though it tends to get neglected until the threat of losing it comes up again.
@ NO, I just disagree with your points. Most people want to keep their jobs. There's nothing strange about that. But you're acting like there's some sort of subterfuge here. Because you're listening to this channel's toxic lies. Everyone at Paramount knows that Kurtzman is the executive producer of all the Trek shows.
@@DavidHHH99 Actually the issue here is that you are assuming things without asking me if those assumptions are accurate. I do feel a change up is needed, yes I me-represented myself by using Kurtzman specifically however of all the New Star Trek there has been more flops than successes so they need to change things up. In my opinion: -Discovery was the most difficult Trek to watch as it was just a slog. -Picard was too reliant on Nostalgia and overused The Borg that they should be put on the shelf for a few years. -Lower Decks was a lot of fun, it was heavy handed in the references so I'm sure people new to Star Trek would probably get lost though. I have enjoyed it though and consider it the best of the current run of shows. -Strange New Worlds a bit hit and miss but it has much better structure and most of the crew has been utilized like in classic Trek. I did enjoy the musical episode, yes a bit silly but then so was The Trouble with Tribbles. -Prodigy I watched the first season and it was decent, but the season end with the Rogue AI really exposed a writing issue as this was also used in Discovery and Lower Decks. Again there is potential here however there is just too poor performance to really salvage anything with the current team in charge of Star Trek.
At this point I have to ask what is wrong with Kurtzman, that he even wants to stay. He must know he is seen, rightly or wrongly as the main impediment to Star Treks financial success. He has well and truly outstayed his welcome.
Because nothing you said bears any resemblance to reality. The people who actually know the numbers, the viewership and the finances keep giving him more money to make more Trek. There's probably a reason.
@@DavidHHH99 not so much. Hollywood has been infested with junk for over a decade. Things we see now were green-lit when woke was at its peak. The money was dumped into this years ago. Just like Disney, and just like modern AAA video games that are flopping. They need to purge their bowels and that will take 2 more years at least.
@@davechan8613 We will. In about a month and a half. (Nielsen is remarkably slow in releasing the rankings for streaming television.) But we'll only know if it makes the top 10 movies on all of streaming television, because that's all that Nielson reports, and Paramount+ doesn't release viewership figures for ANYTHING. But, again, even if it isn't in the top 10 movies on all of streaming television, that doesn't actually make it a failure. Almost nothing on Paramount makes the top 10, certainly not movies.
They need to buy Kurtzman out & keep everything except Picard Season 3 in a pocket universe. Legacy is the future of Trek with its strong connection to TNG. If they can, they should lock away everything else from The Disco-Verse in a vault where it will never see the light of day again.
First off who hired Terry Matalas? Kurtzmen. I am not on page with this take. I don't think everything Kurtzmen has done has been perfect (I hated Picard Season 2 for example) but overall I think Kurtzmen has done mostly good stuff.
Look i am sure people would be happy for him to keep it IF he brought in the money and views. He had it all and he wasted it. He was given a winning ticket and could have been set up for life. Creating a lasting legacy. How many people are just given a franchise that be built up like bring in the money.
How can Lower Decks be Prime if DISCO and SNW aren’t though? (Or Lower Decks and SNW be Prime if DISCO isn’t?). SNW came from Disco (plus Disco literally showed The Cage flashbacks in S2E8), and Lower Decks travelled back in time to SNW. Plus Disco also showed TNG flashbacks (Ambassador Spock from Unification and everyone from The Chase).
You're using the term "prime universe" incorrectly. Star Trek has two universes: 1. The original, canonical pre-2006 ST universe created by Gene Roddenberry. 2. The Prime/Kelvin multiverse created by Bad Robot and continued by Secret Hideout. In addition to the Kelvin universe (where the JJ movies are set), the multiverse includes several versions of Prime where STD, SNW, and PIC take place, as well as another universe where LD takes place. But everything made after 2005 is part of this multiverse, which is why characters can travel from one to the other. Nothing made after 2005 is in the original ST universe. Nothing made before 2009 is in the Prime universe.
What are you WITTERING about nothing BEFORE 2009 is the PRIME Universe??? 🤨 Enterprise, The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Picard are ALL Prime Universe. WHY??? Because Jean-Luc Picard and Benjamin Sisko BOTH met Shatner and Nimoy's Kirk and Spock. Picard also met Scotty. Abrams and KURTZMAN TREK are set in completely different Universes where Kirk and Spock's counterparts in that Universe have different faces to them, and the Starships are more advanced. Quite honestly, though, Abrams AND Kurtzman are a pair of arseholes for doing something that should NEVER have been done, and that was to do a RE-BOOT by recasting inferior actors to play beloved legacy characters. Those characters belonged to Jeffrey Hunter, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForrest Kelley, James Doohan, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Majel Barrett and Walter Koenig.
@@2271graham Everything from TOS to ENT is part of the original ST universe. In 2009, when Bad Robot rebooted the franchise their aim was to create a multiverse. (All reboots take place in a different universe from the original.) The first part of the new multiverse is called prime and Kelvin split off from it in ST2009. Their intent was that every new series would take place in its own universe within the multiverse. For a time, we were told STD, PIC, SNW all take place in the prime universe, though now it seems SNW and LD are in different universes from STD (but they're all still part of the reboot/multiverse). The reason ST was rebooted was because, in 2009, the rights to ST were split between CBS and Paramount. So Paramount could not make a movie set in the original universe without paying huge royalties to CBS. Every new production had to be set in an alternate universe. When they made the deal with Bad Robot, those were the terms. Secret Hideout functions as a subcontractor to Bad Robot and is governed by the same deal. Secret Hideout has pulled the wool over many people by 1) telling the truth -- that their shows are set in the prime universe while 2) never mentioning that the prime universe is not the original, pre-2006 ST universe.
@@2271graham Honestly, we pretty much agree and are saying the same thing. But the term "prime" was never used in ST before 2009. It's a term Bad Robot invented for the first iteration of their multiverse. Because, as you say Abrams and Kurtzman are arseholes, we should not go along with this deception. They can call their shows "prime" if they like, but let's recognize that prime is not the original ST universe. Shows set in prime are reboots.
@@dramaticwords So... I guess you reconcile everything that they show in Picard S3 with references to ships like Voyager in the fleet museum (which also was a point with Lower Decks too that Voyager was being turned INTO a museum) that everything may or may not have happened completely the same for the prime universe? separating them stuff into different timelines is always where my brain hurts because there's so many things that to me tell me it's all connected.
@@vegeta50024 Most of the time, when they put something into nuTrek that was in the original universe, they "reimagine" it. Whether it's a ship, character, species, prop, etc. it will look different from the original so that, if merchandise is based on it, it's clear who gets the royalties. Sometimes, they will license individual items from original ST, but not often as it's expensive. Sometimes they remake stories from TOS, but always with changes, to show it's not the same universe. I also liked it better when ST had one big, interconnected timeline with only brief departures. It made events in the timeline more meaningful.
If Discovery is a seperate universe, then so is Strange New Worlds, and that being the case, then so is Lower Decks. SNW is a spin off from STD and LD crossed over with SNW and knew the crews future
I’d agree with SNW but lower decks? When we had the crossover the device that transported boimler could have taken him through into an alternate reality. I think lower decks is prime universe
Skydance needs to cut ALL ties with Secret Hideout and YES, establish that Kurtzman/SHIT TREK as you so accurately described it as and which incorporates Star Trek: Sexually Transmitted Disease as Discovery is often known as, also SPOOF TREK: Same OLD Worlds, Same OLD Civilisations does INDEED belong to a completely alternate Universe. What they should ALSO be looking at doing is working with OTOY/The Roddenberry Archives to make use of their CGI/Deepfake technology and make the Star Trek: Early Voyages comic book story "Futures" into a TV movie. Jeffrey Hunter as Christopher Pike, Leonard Nimoy as Spock. John Hoyt as Phillip Boyce, Majel Barrett as Number One, Laurel Goodwin as J.M Colt, William Shatner as James T Kirk, DeForrest Kelley as Leonard McCoy, James Doohan as Scotty, George Takei, as Hikaru Sulu, Nichelle Nichols as Nyota Uhura, Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov and Robin Curtis as Saavik. The premise of the story is that Captain Pike and the crew of the Enterprise visit a world giving off strange energy readings. Yeoman Colt is part of the Landing Party that discovers a mysterious black lake. When Colt dips her finger in, she is pulled in and finds herself waking in her quarters back on board the Enterprise. She then finds the corridors deserted but notices an open airlock. When she steps through, she discovers the Enterprise has been grounded and is now a museum on the grounds of the Presidio in San Francisco. Two security guards apprehend her and roughly drag her from the ship, which hasn't gone unnoticed by a certain freighter Captain called James T Kirk, who leaps into action by knocking out both guards and rescuing Colt. When Kirk quizzes her on who she is and Colt tells him, she is shocked to find out she has been missing presumed dead for thirty-eight years as it was Kirk who replaced her as Pike's Yeoman on the Enterprise. However, they never got on, and Kirk left Starfleet to become a freighter captain where he met his Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott. Kirk tells Colt she is now in the year 2293, and Pike commands a new Enterprise NCC-1701-A. This brilliant story is set in an alternate timeline to the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and would make for a FANTASTIC TV movie, a lot better than that Section 31 garbage Kurtzman has churned out. I'm very good friends with Chris Hunter, Jeffrey Hunter's son, and I believe Chris would be fine with his dad's image being used to bring back the PRIME Universe Pike. With what OTOY/The Roddenberry Archives have so far achieved with "Regeneration" and "Unification," the possibilities are endless. All they have to do is make it SO!!! 😊
The problem with the use of deep fakes though is that while you can nail down the LOOK of them, you need to find a way to make the voice sound authentic. I really don't think that is that possible right now.
I agree that Discovery got better as the seasons rolled on, & Picard series 3 was pretty awesome. As for what secret Hideout have got planned for the future, goodness knows, the mind boggles to be honest. Overall I feel Alex needs to hang up his tricorder now & retire with dignity. I just hope it won't end up being a case of "Better The Devil You Know" if & when that happens.
Why are you spreading lies about a man just because he made shows you don't like? It's bizarre and anti-social, and against everything that Star Trek stands for.
I hate Picard season 3 as much as season 1. I know many disagree, but I thought Picard season 2 was the only one remotely watchable. And the whole of Picard is as bad as Discovery, except for the character of Picard himself, who was still the man we knew from TNG. Man juggling the definition of Prime is hilarious since it'll keep changing depending on generational fanbase changes. Chucking Discovery out of Prime when younger fans like it will disenfranchise (pun intended) those generations. More sensible to just do various timeline/verses with no official "Prime" and market them equally to their various fanbases. EG Picard was less than it could be cause it was trying to cover all bases at once. I'm 70 and a staunch lifelong Trek and TNG fan but Season 3 was so forced and sentimental it was annoying me.
It's literally never changed. It's just the toxic extremist "fans" who keep insisting it means things it doesn't. The word literally means "First" and "original". And that' what it's ALWAYS mean in Trek. No one is chucking Discovery out of canon. Mike McMahon has publicly said that that was NOT what they intended by the Klingon scenes in the Lower Decks' finale. The toxic extremists like the host of this channel know this, but choose to keep lying for clicks. It's always about the grift.
Looking forward to the next season of Strange New Worlds but that is about it! Section 31 was horrible in writing and acting. It would be nice to see more Prodigy if possible, Season 2 was good. Academy, umm... remains to be seen if any good. Legacy would be good if made.
DISCOVERY not part of the Prime Universe??? Strange New Worlds isn't either as that Universe's Pike, Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Uhura, Number One, and Chapel don't have the faces of Jeffrey Hunter, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols and Majel Barrett. Not forgetting also, in that Universe's 23rd Century, their Constitution Class Starships are comparable in technology to the 24th Century Intrepid Class, which the USS Voyager belongs to, and it's Klingons are more fortunate than their PRIME Universe counterparts as they retain their forehead ridges, so couldn't have been infected with an augment virus in their 22nd Century. Not to mention that they have developed the K' Tinga Class Battle Cruiser long before their Prime Universe counterparts who were still using the older D7. Think I've just about covered everything. Only Terry MATALAS Trek is PRIME Universe Trek. The Skydance bosses should approach Terry, BEG him to return to Star Trek with 1. The promise of a HUGE salary hike from what he was on before as Picard season 3 Showrunner and 2. The promise of FULL creative control over all things Star Trek, including the commissioning of Legacy and other new series in the franchise. Hopefully, Terry will also bring a swift end to SPOOF TREK: Strange ALTERNATE Universe or Same OLD Worlds, Same OLD Aliens.
Discovery and SNW are in the prime universe, but prime is not the original ST universe created by Roddenberry. Prime was created by Bad Robot and first seen in 2009 (along with Kelvin).
This is the third comment that I've seen from you talking about the FACES of the characters not being the same as the original actors who played them. You're pretty much saying that you're against ANY recasts of characters. To me, not every Klingon HAS to be shown without forehead ridges. The Empire is VAST. They said in Enterprise that MILLIONS would be affected, but not the WHOLE empire.
@@vegeta50024 It's normal to recast characters when you make a reboot. But I'd rather they didn't make reboots. I just want more of the original ST universe. Changing the look of characters they borrow from the original is necessary to not trespass on the original universe. It's done more for legal than artistic reasons. Fans might be okay if they made the new versions better. But often they change species in ways that ruin the originals (e.g. Gorn, Vulcans, tribbles). IMO (and I am a bit of a purist about this), only the creator of something has the right to change his creation. Only Roddenberry could change the Klingons in the original universe. Bad Robot/Secret Hideout can "reimagine" Klingons in the prime/alternate universe they created, but that has no effect on the original. But I also think they should stop "reimaging" characters and remaking/retconing classic stories. They should move forward with NEW crews and ships exploring strange NEW worlds, seeking NEW life and NEW civilizations. If only they had writers who were up to the task.
Tbh . It has been butchered so bad under secret hideout stewardship. Even if something is good to come out , very few will watch . Thus let it go as an famous song says 😂👍🏾
Except that tens of millions ARE watching. Discovery's and Strange New Worlds' last seasons made the top 10 shows on all of streaming television. Something that the Classic Trek shows never accomplished on broadcast television, with far fewer shows to choose from.
I don’t get the hate tbh. Trek can’t remain in the past. It needs to gain new viewers to survive. Discovery got great. The other series distinguish themselves well in individual way. I don’t hate Kurtzman at all. It’s a balancing act. I’ve enjoyed the Trek output and the variety.
That will only be possible if the ENEMY of REAL Star Trek and its fans Kurtzman is not allowed to EVER get his grubby paws on the franchise again, and Terry MATALAS returns as Showrunner.
Strange New Worlds is set in an alternate timeline in which Romulan temporal agents delayed the events of the Eugenic Wars and Khan's birth. This was confirmed in a Season 2 episode.
It was not. They've openly said this publicly many times. In fact, they've already explained how it worked. It's not their fault you weren't paying attention.
@@2271grahamYou're welcome to support Kurtzman Trek all you like, but Sha Ka Ree, it's amazing how much better Voyager and the Final Frontier are retroactively by comparison.
Good Lord. I couldn't get past 12 seconds. Right now, SNW and Academy are still in production. I don't think the contract runs out until 2026. Why not wait and see what happens? Or do we have to stoke the Kurtzman hate.
The Kurtzman hate is well DESERVED after what he has done to the Star Trek franchise, just as much as the HERO worship so many of us have towards Terry Matalas for giving us our REAL Star Trek back with Picard season 3 and his plans for Star Trek Legacy.
I've heard Skydance were the ones who mandated the shift in lower decks and the only reason they not done an offical announcement yet is coz theres more snw coming 😊
There is no good points of modern Star Trek Don’t why like season 3 of Picard it’s just as bad as all the other modern Star Trek. I just see ALL modern Star Trek in non canon and therefore NOT part the prime universe. Picard, Lower Desks and Prodigy are NOT prime universe because of their links to SNW which IS Discovery universe which make it ALL part of the Fake Trek universe.
Lower decks can be cannon easy to explain it's SNW crossover the gate thing was not just time but also universe gateway prodagy is definitely canon Picard it's had to explain how S1 was canon and S2 and S3 built on those people and the events in S1 have been mentioned in Prodigy and lower decks, could be q but he has been used already but it's possible he returned them to the prime universe, dam you shitverse
Ahh, the crying and gatekeeping from more toxic elements of the fandom does amuse me. What's especially amusing is that people still believe a word this idiot has to say when he's never been right about anything.
Toxic is just label for your coping mechanism. If you could rationally process other opinions without your labe advertising your disdain I'm sure we'd have a perfectly fine conversation.
It’s not coping though. It’s being excited about some great episodes that have come our way. If you do t get it that’s fine. But diminishing others joy is just weird. 😊
@saquist having a conversation with that side of the fandom has proved to be impossible. Their irrational hatred for Alex Kurtzman is all they know. What is truly funny is that these say people who hate Kurtzman are probably the same people who hated Berman and Braga back in the day, but now look on them fondly. Give it 20 years and they'll be singing the praises of Kurtzman. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. This fandom hates anything that's new and different, until something even newer comes along.
@HotRod84 all emotion is irrational. I still hate Berman and Braga. Their arrogance and bad stewardship lead the franchise exactly to where it is now. Enterprise was Mediocre, but back then it was deemed bad. Current Trek is aspiring to Mediocre. This was all very predictable because desperation in Fandom always sends the wrong message, that diminishing quality is acceptable in exchange for quantity. But that audience has diminished with it. Each Trek movie made less and less money, DISCO lost 86% of its original 9.6 million audience and no Trek movie in theater for 7 years. -The Normies were the first to go. -The Faithful Fans hoped complaining would turn things around but eventually left too. -The Die Hard Fans are all that's left.
Regardless of what happens in the future, the taint, the stink, the skidmark of Klutzman Trek will forever hang around Star Trek. You can't think of Spock now without being aware of his superior adopted sister from another species and his dyslexia, and I only ever watched the first 2 episodes of STD. No more John Eaves ship designs too, he's gone way off the reservation with his designs.
No!! Make the bad man go away!
I've been rewatching Enterprise the last few weeks. At the time I wasn't impressed. Now after Discovery and Picard, it is so enjoyable.
There was a massive improvement in Enterprise when Manny Coto took over as Showrunner. Sadly, he passed away from Cancer two years ago.
@@2271graham Oh damn. I had been suggesting that Manny Coto should be given another chance to produce a new Star Trek series as Ent season 4 was at least watchable (I don't care for the previous seasons).
So sad to hear that that is no longer possible :(

The cash cow that Star Trek WAS, but is no longer is.

Kurtzman must go. Now.
@williamking7631 why? Genuinely curious what he has done that is so absolutely horrible that he "must go now."

@@HotRod84 One word. "Discovery".
Furzmann must go! 😂

I have been enjoying watching younger people watching and reacting to TNG for the first time.
I think people are reading too much into the Lower Decks Klingons flash. The episode was about goofy alternative timelines and dimensions.
Matalas being better than Kurtzman doesn't make him brilliant.
To be fair parts of season 3 weren’t great and Matalas wrote season 2 of Picard and it was shocking. So you may have a point.
Except Matalas Trek, but everything else I am COMPLETELY agree with.
And do what with what they own the rights to, including the 2009 and on stuff? It's not going to disappear.
Seriously, if Kurtzman doesn't want to let go of the IP, Skydance should just let him keep it and cut him loose. Do not empower and reward him by giving him any more money for it. Better to have no more official Trek than the horrible slop of Kurtzman Trek.

@ We're in it. And it's awesome!
You earned a up vote - shit Trek - bring on the prime !
Star Trek kurtzman need to go. I am tired of watching Star Trek with eight episodes of BS. The story is the plot and the finale. Star Trek never had this
I still find myself watching the original series more than all the other treks combined 😅
It doesn’t matter who takes the reins, you can never go home.
It's not a bad idea. Personally, I would prefer to see Prodigy become a live action series running alongside Legacy.
@ prodigy takes place at least 15 years before Picard
The problem though is that Lower Decks characters' have more or less said that SNW is their past, especially since Tendi's grandmother was on that Orion ship in the crossover episode.
@@vegeta50024 well you could easily ignore that. Or for an in universe reason you can say by traveling back in time Lower Decks created an alternate reality for SNW. Same way Spock created the Kelvin universe in Star Trek 2009.
@@ericcousino2068 I dislike the alternate reality scenario. I get that people hate everything for one reason or another, but playing the altternate reality card just complicates things more.

Amen to THAT. Just hope Terry can be persuaded to return.
Agreed! I enjoyed the final season of _Picard._ Though, I hope _Prodigy_ would continue with neither Kurtz's involvement nor Secret Hideout's.
He made the worst one. (Season 3)
You DO understand that it was Kurtzman who hired Matalas, right? And that Kurtzman was the executive producer of everything Matalas did.
Trek already has built-in tools (alternate universes, time-travel, Q, Nexus etc) - all integral parts of the canon that are almost purpose-built to aid retcon's (Marvel has that as well but their fans are way less Canon-obsessed and will happily overlook inconsistencies that Trek fans won't.)
Depending on how bad the contracts with Kurtzman are ( who owns the IP of the NuTrek dross?) Skydance should be able to cherry-pick the stuff they want to keep.
Kurtzman and it's universe goes to hell, they have nor the ability neither the knowledge to do ANYTHING related to Star Trek !!!!
Shit Trek or Kuntzman era.
Well, SAID!!!👏👏👏
Make SNW a separate timeline and then free up Pike from having to follow TOS path. Perfect.
It IS an alternate universe. In the PRIME Universe, Christopher Pike has the face of Jeffrey HUNTER, and the Klingons of that era have SMOOTH foreheads.
The Klutzverse
Shitverse!?! LOL!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! Very appropriate!
The only viable plan is that Kurtzman get fired for ever.
New Trek has improved. Prodigy has been great. SNW has been a major improvement from Discovery. Picard S3 was better than S1 and S2. Not particularly looking forward to Academy but I'll give it a fair chance.
Agreed on all counts! I myself do believe in fair play.
Everything that Kurtzman oversaw with the exception of Picard season 3 is not canon. Cancel everything and just have Legacy as the sole show.
These are toxic lies.
People preferred to criticize Berman again and again instead of admitting he was 1000x times better than Secret Hideout.
This is why he's going to remain. You don't watch the shows. Your toxic opinions are irrelevant. They only care about the millions of actual fans who are actually watching the shows.

@@DavidHHH99false.

It's what you want. I would rather something brand new.
There's also the supposed issue that Kurtzman WANTED to do Legacy, but Skydance/Paramount are holding him back from it. Either that, or Kurtzman indeed doesn't want to do it because its what fans want, but he wants HIS stuff to be what people want.
I’m a fan and I don’t want Legacy. Don’t presume to know what fans want.
Honestly wouldn't rust them, they could be only temporarily trying to steer the ship to appease Skydance and once they get the extension Kurtzman could just retake the helm.

@@DavidHHH99 Actually the issue here is that you are assuming things without asking me if those assumptions are accurate.
I do feel a change up is needed, yes I me-represented myself by using Kurtzman specifically however of all the New Star Trek there has been more flops than successes so they need to change things up.
In my opinion:
-Discovery was the most difficult Trek to watch as it was just a slog.
@@DavidHHH99Let’s see the numbers for Section 31…
@@DavidHHH99 not so much. Hollywood has been infested with junk for over a decade. Things we see now were green-lit when woke was at its peak. The money was dumped into this years ago.
@@TheVintageNewbie did boimler travel back in time or back in time and cross dimensions??
You're using the term "prime universe" incorrectly.
Star Trek has two universes:
Also Kelvin was also yet another seperate universe to STD
Cancel the Kurtzman universe and return to the prime universe
I’d agree with SNW but lower decks? When we had the crossover the device that transported boimler could have taken him through into an alternate reality. I think lower decks is prime universe
Looks to me to be yet another example of everyone taking a lower decks gag WWWAAAYYY to seriously.
I actually agree with you there to a point… BUT Kurtzman says lower decks is canon. Can’t have it both ways.
Aren’t they just using SNW to reboot TOS? Like, aren’t they planning on having the TOS Enterprise crew together by the end of SNW Season 5?
It would have to be a time skip for that to happen. Officially, Season 2 of SNW still takes place in 2259.
Only person I trust with Trek at the moment is Terry Matalas
I'd love to see a show set in the mirror universe
all hail Terra Prime
I agree that Discovery got better as the seasons rolled on, & Picard series 3 was pretty awesome. As for what secret Hideout have got planned for the future, goodness knows, the mind boggles to be honest. Overall I feel Alex needs to hang up his tricorder now & retire with dignity. I just hope it won't end up being a case of "Better The Devil You Know" if & when that happens.
Section 31 should see Secret Hideout removed from Star Trek forever. If not, the franchise is dead.
The odler demographic has the money. They need to pay attention to us.
Kurtzman would sell his children to keep hold of Star Trek. That talentless hack isn't fit to run a bath let alone a media franchise.
But wow, the whole concept of the Federation and Starfleet were just bastardized and vandalized completely. What a crock!
They showed old Spock from the Prime Universe in a visual record on Star Trek: Discovery.
One of the reasons they are now disregarding that SHIT SHOW???

I would rather see Star Trek burned to the ground than let secret hideout and Alex kertsmen to get a contract extension
True fans don't actually want the things they love to burn to the ground. This is why no one at Star Trek or Paramount cares what you think.
No facts, all conjecture.
@@drawnhere you think..
They have zero creativity or writing talent associated with current Star Trek. I can't believe anyone is still watching any of the terrible shows they have made since cancelling Enterprise too soon It actually started to get good in season 3 .
I see many challenges... One I don't see any decent actor wanting to work on project that could be considered "Shit Verse". Two the Fanbase has been taken over by anti-woke, racist and other bad entities no way we can get back to this: th-cam.com/users/shortsJXk3f7NIXOk?si=GGbyl00y6OGIRMrB
Well darn, Star Trek its dead Jim.
@ Toxic lies repeated over and over are no less true.

I imagine we are called Tachyon Pulsers or just Pulsers for short 😊
As long as they figure out a way to still make "Legacy" possible, that's all I care about.
That will only be possible if the ENEMY of REAL Star Trek and its fans Kurtzman is not allowed to EVER get his grubby paws on the franchise again, and Terry MATALAS returns as Showrunner.
