Nah, with anywhere from 8-14 episodes per season (8 seems to be the new streaming standard) that's from 4 to 7 hours a season of content, for two seasons. Much rather have a dozen hours of good story spread out over multiple episodes for proper pacing and structure, rather than maybe two hours of rushed TV movie. Let's face it, as cool as the Orville is, an Orville movie would be straight to streaming, and even with a decent budget, it;s going to feel more like a TNG era two-parter than a big budget blockbuster story.

Sounds like Skydance are doing too many drugs as they are talking nonsense. Trek always sells. Well the TH-cam algorithm could f that right up. also. the only real negative thing is all these independent streaming options. stop having these streaming option and get trek out there. i will never subscribe. streaming services are doing the damage.

They sue fan films because a large chunk of them are better than ANY of the new Trek and their jobs are on the line and once you are a failure then your career in Hollywierdo Land is just about over !!

I saw someone on TH-cam rank The Expanse books and the final three books (that are yet to be made into a TV series) made up 3 of the top 4 positions and they said the book series "stuck the landing" so I'm 110% in for a continuation! In fact, my obsession for The Expanse and the realisation that a show this good, that lasts as long and has a satisfying ending is a very rare thing. I keep seeing new people react to the series on TH-cam and I feel like it's status as one of truly great shows is growing day by day. There have been a number of shows over the years that were great for quite a while but just went off the boil near the end. The Expanse never did that and I'm having a real trouble to thinking of another show that was as strong as The Expanse for its full run and particularly is as new as The Expanse, so it will hook new viewers like a new show would. Sticking with Amazon is good if they plan to continue the show, but I feel like The Expanse could find a whole new audience on another streaming service, like say Netflix. Netflix has a lot of crap and a handful of good shows, but do they really have anything that has 6 seasons of high-quality entertainment? I would have originally said Stranger Things is getting there, but I feel like the magic that Stranger Things had in its first season has slowly but surely disappeared and even though season 4 got a surprising amount of positivity but to me it felt unnecessarily long and drawn out and the chemistry between the cast seemed to have disappeared. Squid Game Season 2 lacked the freshness of season 1 and we are still waiting to see how Wednesday go beyond season 1 so The Expanse on Netflix could be a huge success if there a lot of subscribers that have never watch it and even better if people just think it's a new show and it's gets large numberers like Stranger Things, Squid Game & Wednesday. Most people agree that The Expanse deserved the same level of success as Game of Thrones and it might just need to be put on another streaming service like Netflix to end up with those numbers in total (when combining Syfy, Amazon & Netflix).

I wouldn’t mind seeing a few T.V. movies of (THE ORVILLE) show, but I still want to see a Fourth Season of the show.

I theorize that (The ORVILLE) show’s Fourth & Fifth Seasons aren’t really canceled, but instead they have been put temporarily on hold.

I really hope that we get additional seasons rather than movies. Only so much story can be developed in a movie which is why I generally prefer seasons. As much as I like Picard and Ricker, I often enjoyed episodes that developed other characters the best. I would be fine with Orville doing something similar.

All I know is if you are training to be a lawyer you need to get a copy of Kurtzmans contract for Star Trek, for his contract is the gold standard of contracts. You will never write a better one. No one else has gone from failed project to failed project and been rewarded for it like Kurtzman. It's like Section 31 was almost a dare from him to try and sack him. If you don't want to work hard in life, forget winning the lottery, just get your employer to sign a contract put together from Kurtzmans lawyer.

To quote Commander Taggart from the other best non-Star Trek Star Trek, Galaxy Quest; "I don't like it". Besides it's well known that The Orville is Seth's baby, it's his passion project, I doubt that he'd be willing to give it up so easily... unless he knows something we don't and he's getting the keys to another Captains chair across town in the Paramount Lot, once the current squatters have been kicked out.

I don’t think we want a movie…at least not yet. I think we want at least 2 more seasons if not 4 more seasons until a movie is considered. People have been missing the adventure of the week type Sci-Fi that people loved with Star Trek TOS, TNG and VOY. The Orville filled that void. A movie isn’t going to fill that void.

After two brilliant seasons, we got a horrible woke mess of a 3rd season. So if this show just dies off, it`s perfectly fine by me.

Is Seth McFarlane full of himself? he doesn't want to give up the reigns to the show and would compromise with a movie so he can be the only writer. it just shows how full of himself he really is.

I don’t understand how he’s been allowed to keep making ST so long. The series are just awful, the characters are never developed and as a result there are no stakes. I watched a DS9 yesterday where I cared more about one of the characters who was only in that episode. He was well acted and his personality and motivations were filled out. Subtly is just absent now, it can be as fast paced and flashy as you want, but if you never bother to make the care about the characters in quiet times the peril means nothing. It can’t all just be shouting, emoting and running about.

We should be living in peak television, but yet again, another show won’t happen

I have doubts that Seth would be satisfied with a one off movie. This is his prized baby. I'm sure he's prefer multiple seasons.

A problem with any Trek spinoff is half the audience get off with lots of explosions and the other half get off with clever original themes that few people have considered.

I think Seth Should learnt from Family Guy when he handed the show over to trusted writers and just turned up for his voice parts. As you say, make him more of a Picard and they should have had season 4 and even 5 done by now. 3+ years and likely the sets and everything else won't be just unpack and dust down. Even the digital resources can get out of date quite quick when a few software generations go by. This could be why they are thinking film - you can suddenly change the look with a film.

I liked The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew the fans loved Skeleton Crew. And Star Wars isn't Sci-fi it's Sci-fi/Fantasy/Western

When The Orville went to Hulu, Hulu was already owned by Disney it was purchased with the 20th Century Fox acquisition!

I’d *infinitely* prefer multiple additional seasons over a movie or even multiple movies. “The Orville” is better Star Trek than Star Trek right now, and Star Trek is meant to be TV shows. Yes, this is Seth MacFarlane’s baby, but if he could find someone he truly trusts to run it, and if he could then step back (to accommodate his busy schedule), I’d even prefer that. To me movies are short and transitory. They come and go. TV shows are things to immerse in and rewatch.
