According to the great wizard Mordenkainen, the Lady of Pain had some sort of connection to the Raven Queen, another enigmatic character. It was said that only the Lady of Pain knew the Raven Queen's true intentions. At was the case in 2018, not sure now.
The lore is very complicated. Officially in 5e the Shadar-Kai are Elves. Additionally, Myrkul is another Deity that started as Mortal and became a Death Domain Deity. Also, in the 5e lore I'm 99% the Raven Queen can sometimes be found at the edge of the Feywilds beyond the Witchlight. Anyway, I unfortunately don't have a group to play with:( But I have created 12 different lvl 1 characters in case I found a group. 1 is a Chaotic Neutral Female Drow Feylost background Death Domain Cleric sworn to the Raven Queen. Another is a Chaotic Neutral Female Shadar-Kai Acolyte background Undying Warlock whose Patron is Larloch.
Ya, the lore gets weird because she’s not REALLY the god of death in 5e and they obviously changed a lot of her lore. I wanted to focus on her origin in 4e and touch on 5e, but ya it gets complicated. At least they kept her in 5e!
Yeah, I too believe the 5E books (esp MToF; Chapt #2 [on Elves] ident the Shadar-Kai as Elves ( damn things are like cockroaches, they get into everything, heh). It may be possible for Humans to join them, not sure... Otherwise, good vid! Thanks much my friend. :)
It'll be interesting to see whats happened to the Raven Queen with the events of BG3 (the retur of Jergal, the power Shar seems to have over the Shadowfell
Geez. She's practically a DIE hire her path to godhood was so easy compared to every other tale I've ever heard of. Hell, just the final transformation of a Gelugon into a Pit Fiend is infinitely more arduous - and that's after the millennia it takes to earn the promotion.
Yeah, critical role and their use of this deity, has ruined the lore in itself for me. Everyone that likes the Raven queen, is someone I generally don't like. They're like Funko Pop collectors and stuff. Not to mention, Grandma being goth? Kinda cringe lmfao 😅

Hmm I don’t think I came across this, that’s very interesting, I hope to do a video on the lady of pain soon

@@The_NaturalOnes Yep I'm glad she is in 5e as well.
Shadar-Kai fighter. That was fun. Playing a twilight domain kenku cleric. That one is really fun.

I don’t think this guy likes critical role. “Funko pop collector” is hilarious
