Destiny 2 Lore - The Fanatic question. Who is Fikrul's loyal to? With the Witness or the Scorn?

- Destiny 2's Lore and story tells us about The Fanatic Fikrul and his place in the upcoming story involving the Witness, Lightfall and the Final Shape. As the former leader of the Scorn Barons he has a vested interest in the well being of his people. But it's unclear if this is going to be in service to the Witness or whether he will tread his own path to buy his people their freedom.

I didn't expect to hear BYF so quickly, it actually startled me for a bit...
That was oddly surprising
Wait thought I was high okay
I thought i had two video's playing for a second.

My name is Jumpscare Byff here.
That intro threw me for a loop lol. Keep being amazing byf. I always get excited when I see your stuff
The root of Fikrul’s immortality is the wish magic of Riven. If we find a way to break it, we can potentially break the thing bringing him back. How we do it is another question entirely. I think we could get him back during a season as a plot device to have him at least disrupt the Scorn forces under the Witness.
To break his Magic, we must break the magic of the dreaming city.
I predict that if we are to do this, we would break Rivens magic, but do something wrong, plunging the Dreaming city into the Ascendent Plane. This would allow for the Three week Cycle to be combined into just 1 week, and allow for the Taken specific things within the Dreaming city still be viable lore wise.
This video literally references how the Witness can make Scorn on their own. Breaking Riven's magic isn't going do anything, since the Witness can just bring Fikrul back by themselves.
@@thomaschitham3487 The difference is Fikrul comes back to life on his own, so it's a separate problem that still needs to be addressed and I think Riven's wish magic is a viable explanation.
You use another wish. Easy enough. Now the true question. Is Riven really the last ahamkara?
@@armstrong.r No, the point I'm making is that, even if you cut off Fikrul's method, the Witness will just bring him back with their own power.
For the Fikrul question: I am uncertain because of a few things...
First, Fikrul's hatred towards the Awoken for driving him and his scorn out of the Tangled Shores would make our encounters with him more hostile than ever before.
Second, his hatred towards us for not only killing his brothers and sisters within the Barons, but also for killing Uldren, the man he called father, the one he wanted to protect at all costs.
And third, Crow's wanting to make up for his wrongs when he was Uldren Sov, with Fikrul being one of the wrongs that he wants to fix.
I'm seeing this as a potential seasonal story
@@adamngiraffe409 and right at the end of the season, we make him drink tea in a cutscene that breaks the wish
Here's a crack theory: Fikrul is being held captive and the Witness is forcing the Skorn to be their shock troops. Why would I suggest this? Because wouldn't Fikrul want to make contact with Crow as soon as he was revealed to be rezzed Uldren? Especially since the Skorn on the Leviathan made contact and would have seen his face. It's just weird that we haven't heard anything from him. Not counting the possibility he got shoved into the same vault as Forsaken anyway.
Fikrul loathes Guardians, Crow being one probably would make him even more furious.
@@xvx_k1r1t0_xvxkillme7 Fikrul's not crazy.
@@xvx_k1r1t0_xvxkillme7 Fukrul is deluded, not crazy
When crow made his big reveal I was waiting for Fikrul to make a play and get shut down when crow reveals that Uldren is truly dead and Crow is what remains. Perhaps Crow will try to welcome Fikrul, perhaps Fikrul would be furious and be put down but Crow wants to save him.
@@MrElmo54321 It really sucks to me that for Season of The Haunted, Crow simply dealt with Fikrul's Nightmare, not the real Fikrul.
I put money on Fikrul getting a worm from Rhulks pyramid and ascending. He is the one that is constantly sending his Scorn into the Preservation mission.
how do we know that Fikrul's scorn are the ones in preservation?
@@thomasw7908 the name of the bosses are "fanatic chosen" .
Fanatic is fikrul other name
One thing I kinda wonder is given Crow defeated his nightmare and pretty muched accepted each other is if Crow would be able to channel his inner Uldren in order to convince the Fanatic into joining our team.
The Fanatic wouldn't trust that, might be able to feel that he came to terms though
It’s kind of exciting, there’s so many established antagonists and allied factions. Even neutral parties and strained alliances.
I don’t think any of us could’ve even dreamt that we’d see a story unravel like this in Destiny.
Thinking back to grimoire cards and random raid bosses like Atheon. Lore that only really happens in the background and minimal story in-game…
That promise they made of persistent threats and a living world…
What the savathun doing?
@@masonwillms2542 Currently she's dead, but her Ghost is alive, meaning she's not personally a threat right now, but could be brought back at any time when needed.
I can’t stop wondering where the Lucent Brood are going. The gift of the light seems like it should have been a bigger deal.
Currently I'd like to believe in either Lightfall's year or The Final Shape's year we'll fight alongside the Lucent Brood against the Witness
I have a feeling Savathuun will.return. Maybe she'll be on our side, maybe a third faction, but she will definitely stand against the Witness
@@iamcrash5525 I doubt it, Obviously for gameplay purposes the Lucent Brood will remain enemies, and clearly Savy's Ghost hates us Guardians. So they won't be allies, but at the very least they're also enemies to Xivu Arath, The "ENemy of my enemy" thing won't apply here, but it does add another thorn in the side of Xivu and the Witness.
@@iamoctonate She'll definitly be back, not actually an ally, but I can definitly see the possibilty of her giving us important info to get us closer to beating the Witness.
@@TheZamaron Like force Ghost of Anakin type sh!t
I belive that we won't be hearing from Fikrul again until the final shape. He is a perfect antagonist for an after light and dark war scenario.
I’d like to see more of how the Vex will be explored during this conflict and where the individual sects will fall. It seems clear that groups like the Sol Divisive will fall in line with the Witness’ machinations, but Asher Mir is still out there and could perhaps persuade another group to assist us in the coming war.
They need to do something with him. Don't let his story end, could be very useful
I think the sol divisive will end with the light and darkness saga but I think the vex as a whole will survive after and still be a present enemy in the next chapter of destiny
Aren't Calus's cabal mindless clones? I thought they said so in the season of the haunted.
Very similar to wrathborn, scorn, and taken... mindless.
@@ice_melon__ they are talking about Calus' cabal, and those are clones.
The cabal are a species, but the cabal empire is made up of different species
Yeah that actually makes a lot of sense
Most of his legion are in fact clones yes
I do believe so, birthed from the Royal Pools and infected with egregore upon exposure.
Yes after he took the leviathan into the anomaly the second time and bonded with it like it was his body all cabal aboard died. The ones we kill are clones controlled by calus directly
I always wanted Fikrul and Eramis to interact because they both have hatred or contempt for traditional for Fallen ways.
They're actually polar opposites, while Eramis tries to rebuilt the old Eliksni home of Riis out of grief of the Wirlwind, Fikrul sees the Wirlwind as wake up call, and believes all Eliksni were meant to die during it. Hence why he considers the Scorn a different species.
The only similarity is their shared use of Darkness. I don't even think Fikrul hates the Traveller that much either, just specifically Guardians.
I wonder if Fikrul is like a Lich? Liches usually have their 'heart' located somewhere else which alows them to resurrect as long as it is intact.
Here's my theory. This is all part of Savathuuns grand plan. She, under the guise of Osiris lead crow down the path of the light. I think the path that crow has been lead down will lead to him once again meeting with the Fanatic and trying to fix what uldren did in some way. Whatever happens, the goal of this interaction is to weaken the witness, either by causing him to switch sides and join us, splintering the scorn and losing the witness a sizable part of its forces. It could also be that the witness is simply using fikrul to make new scorn and ending him will again weaken the witness. Either way, pay attention to crow. He made the scorn as uldren and he fill feel responsible to fix uldrens mistake.
Other individuals/factions I can think of that weren't mentioned are Clovis Bray, the Lucent Brood, and the old Last City Factions. Clovis definitely seems to be pulling a Calus and may bend the knee to The Witness to protect his immortality. The Lucent Brood are for sure against The Witness, but they are certainly not our allies. I'm not sure if the old factions will ever make a resurgence, but I will keep the one grimoire card with the ships in mind.
Clovis probably wouldn’t though.
Clovis would only let Clovis be in-charge if Clovis.
Clovis is really his own faction just like the lucent brood now, cause he wont trust neither the traveler nor the witness, he wants to have the control, rasputin its the literal prove to that
Clovis wouldn't bend the knee to anyone. Even if another version of him figured out Vex timetravel, he'd probably refuse to join that team.
@@79bigcat If he figured out vex timetravel, he’d probably use it to go back in time to the beginning of mankind and deem himself their king and rightful ruler for Eternity.
@@makesthemusic6340 Even the Vex can't do that. That's the point of Vault of Glass.
Is Alakul the Light Blade the only other strike boss that is canonically killed every strike since his ghost is probably just waiting around till we leave to revive him? I don’t know if it’s mentioned in the strike, but logically speaking, he could be just reviving constantly.
This was a very interesting topic, and an important one at that to the story. With the possibility of continuing Fikrul’s story in future seasons it adds more possibilities. For example a new kind of bar appearing overheads. Like you’d see fellow guardians in strikes or assistant fallen from spiders ranks or cabal from Kaitil’s, there could be a new one added that changes based on the events. A new added color could be a possible Purple as it’s between blue and red. Similar to those of live event in previous seasons, the players choices in game could affect how the story goes. The missions involving the season of the seraph, and a recent one with the civilization of the eliksni in the last city.
I've been wondering what the Fanatic has been up to for years, especially during season of the Haunted where the nightmare of Uldren talks about him with Crow, I really feel like he is deserving of a season to find where his loyalties lie, and if we are to convince him to help us Crow would be the key to that.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge Eramis' voice actress. It's not subtle work, but she conveys Eramis' attitude so well in every line. She sounds scared and cornered, but not frantic. She sounds like someone stuck in a safehouse, surrounded on all sides and completely without hope. Her people are being corrupted and destroyed, her master is punishing her and there's nothing she can do about it. We're stronger than her without a doubt, and she knows that the next time she is sent against us and fails she's fucked.
Byf with the jump scare, interrupting his own opening.
I do notice we’re collecting allies (or at least “allies”) as more and more from each faction get a better look at what they signed up for in dealing with the Darkness. Much as he hates US, I can see Fikrul recognizing us as a lesser evil.
Great video. I really like the format of these last few videos where you just go talking-head-mode without spending any time on lore reads. The lore reading is fine too, but I personally feel it interrupts the flow of the video and adds dramatically to the video runtime. This format is easier to follow and shorter in duration and I hope you do more in this style
I think Bungie will give Fikrul the "Nezarec treatment", a potential key character in the development of Destiny turned into a Seasonal story to "wrap up" the character. Yes Nezarec's story and involvement in Destiny has finished because Mara Sov at the start of this Season says Nezarec is "now out of play"
I don't think Nezarec was ever a key character, they barely existed at all prior to Season of Plunder.
That could be a red herring. Who knows if Nezzie still won't find a way to "rise again" in some way through Osiris, there's still the pseudo-prophecy in the "Nezarec's Sin" lore tab to consider. Part of which sounds eerily similar to the premise of Lightfall:
""When the guiding shine fades and all seems lost He will call to you. Fear not. All He offers is not as dark as it may seem. For Nezarec is no demon, but a fiend, arch and vile in ways unknown. He is a path and a way, one of many. And his sin-so wicked, so divine-is that he will never cower when dusk does fall, but stand vigilant as old stars die and new Light blinks its first upon this fêted eternity.""
Maybe in some way Osiris is his new vessel, and Nezarec still alive inside of him.
@@S3Cs4uN8
Potential key character. His helmet made him out to be a powerful or even godlike figure. But he was reduced to a story driver and tea as of Plunder
I wonder with Osiris and Elizabeth talking about different factions in the Vex if Asher has been busy gathering more "assistants" since he converted himself into one.
Foe, his part in caydes death will not be forgotten
I don't think we can have Eramis AND Fikrul. I think if both were to join the Coalition or at least align with our shared interests having the distrust between the two AND the inevitable distrust between them and the Vanguard would just be too much. I see the potential for either potentially helping us but I doubt we can have both.
I also can't imagine the House of Light and Misraaks being pleased if we'd ally with the scorn in any way. The scorn are darkness infested eliksni zombies
As much as i'd like that to happen, tensions between all Eliskni and the Scorn would be too great to create an alliance
So video topics aside, can we talk about how the clips of him playing current season versus old clips from Forsaken, it’s like two different players! You’ve gotten so much better at the game in the years you’ve been bringing us all this great lore content.
Tmw Byf is so excited about the topic he can't wait for his own intro
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the scorn in the ascendant plane from season of the lost. Developing what seemed to be their one culture and society, evolving the capacity for independent thought.
Normally I don't mind a little messed up audio but listening with earbuds is brutal on this one. Gonna have to finish in the morning.
I am reminded by Crow's moral conundrums with the Nightmare of Uldren, over Fikrul, and how much the question of his "son" disturbed Crow.
That was a very specific and pointed question, with a very visceral reaction. There must be more to Fikrul on the horizon.
Go do the “preservation” mission. The three chieftains at the end are “Fikrul’s chosen.” Unfortunately, this matter is already resolved unless Bungie decides to go back on an explicit statement of allegiance
Just wanna say you forgot about the Vex Sol Divisive when naming the Witnesses forces.
Doesn’t Petra say that riven is the last “known” ahamkara? There could still be ahamkara that we know don’t know about
There was a hidden colony of them somewhere in the system that the Nine destroyed when Oryx took Riven, there's also the Ahamkara egg in Mara's possession.
@@S3Cs4uN8 A Taken egg no less, probably Riven's. My guess would be that it was a gambit (the actual word, not the game mode) for Riven to cheat death and escape servitude.
I think Riven was not in servitude since when we kiled Oryx, and she is "alive" with us, because in the final of the Raid, she speak with us, but this wasn't expanded futher.
@@25290117 Riven does talk to us sometimes in the Shattered Throne dungeon. Which takes place after the Last Wish raid. But that is the last time she whispers to us.
No way is fikrul joining the coalition. The reason he resurects every time is due to riven’s wish magic, and fikrul’s wish was to be there when the guardian (us) died.
Fikrul is firmly in the pocket of the witness, even if it’s solely out of spite
The comparison of Scorn to zombies makes a lot of sense. Their attack formations are very self sacrificing.
I hope we see fikrul returns some time next year
I'm just saying the Fanatics chosen appear in Rhulks pyramid and the public event sooo... he's definitely not out of the picture.
Fikrul and Eramis leading some kind of coup would be such an interesting dynamic
I gotta say Byf, I'm kinda tired of destiny lately (the grind, sbmm, overall state of the game), but I still love watching your videos partly because the lore in this game is so interesting and also I love your method of presenting and I'm super grateful for what you do. Thank you Byf
Correct me if I'm wrong, Fikrul is M.I.A somewhere on the Tangled Shore or elsewhere in the system and at least to my knowledge has not came up in recent lore books. During the seasonal story for Lightfall or before The Final Shape bungie needs to address Fikrul, Crow/Uldren, and maybe Mithrax as well in a seasonal narrative. In season of the Haunted Crow accepted and learn from his past life as Uldren as well as being the sole reason of creating the first scorn and the race entirely so it would make sense if for Crow and Fikrul to interact before the final battle and not during it to potentially give the scorn a choice in the final battle, fight for the Witness, fight for the last city, or withdraw from the fight. But as for Mithrax coming into play, the Scorn were once Eliksni perhaps Mithrax could welcome Fikrul and the Scorn to the Eliksni Quarter or at least help them gather their barring to set up their own version of the Eliksni Quarter elsewhere. Either way I want to see Fikrul come back into the story but as his own person and not as servant to one side or the other.
Fun fact: In Witch Queen, the Scorn that are associated with the Witness' influence have black helmets, where the old Scorn (as seen in Gambit predominantly) have/had yellow helmets. There are still yellow Scorn about, which either means that the assets are semi-randomised, or that some Scorn are "originals" and might follow the Fanatic.
@@xvx_k1r1t0_xvxkillme7 I also noticed that the scorn snipers have yellow armor in the moon heist at the laser ball section.
They're more a deep purple than black
@@xvx_k1r1t0_xvxkillme7 Honestly it might just be what faction their corpses are from when they were fallen.
I'm a little late to the conversation since I got behind in the videos, but I feel like Crow could negotiate an alliance. Crow has knowledge and a connection others don't. I can see a mission where you are fighting Fikrul and then Crow steps in to ask you to spare Fikrul so he could talk to them. If Fikrul does want a better future for the scorn then they could negotiate a place for them like what happened with the eliksni. The alliance consists of multiple forces that fought each other and now are working with factions of each other. Plus guardians and scorn are both technically beings that have been resurrected. Not sure how this would affect missions where Fikrul and its loyalists were enemies though.
I remember during one of the previous seasons, the one where we had to hunt down and free the "tech witchs" in the ascendant plane
During our missions, we could find locations where Mara comments on how the scorn seems to be showing signs of a sort of culture, a basic one involving combat I think but still
If so then it could be a situation like the forsaken from wow (my lore knowledge is weak so apologies if I'm way off the mark)
Essentially some when raised are no better than zombie puppets, but some are able to retain a sense of self.
For Fikrual to join our side or at least declare neutrality, it has to be revealed that the scorn do indeed feel & think. Maybe on a small insticual scale but still.
It would be a baron that most likely reaches out to Mara sov, she sends us out not telling us the whole story.
We meet up with here contact to find a bunch of scorn appear, it goes like a normal fight but just as we are about to do the finishing blow, the boss baron speaks, and makes his/her plea for us to pursaude Fikral to speak up and fight for his people.
I think its possible.
I do also agree that he would then become a wildcard faction, similar to the lucent hive if Savathune ever gets ressed.
I think the stage is bing set so that it doesnt bcome a darkness v light battle
It bcomes something else? (At least i think? I dunno)
This is all stuff i thought about while eating my breakfast so sorry!
In regards to the Scorn becoming more than just mindless soldiers, in Season of the Lost, it is seen in the Ascendant Plane that the Scorn have started developing some type of culture. They were doing gladiatorial-like fights in a arena in the plane. I kind of saw this, as something similar in concept to the Crucible, somewhere fight, practice, win glory, and still be revived even if they die as far as I know, Scorn can be endlessly revived as long as their body parts are still attached with Dark Ether or whatever the Witnesses if it’s a different.
I kind of hope Bungie would continue this story because I thought it was so interesting. I was wondering whether being connected to the Witness directly after the Glykon caused this, since the Darkness is so linked with memory, I was wondering if being closer to the Witness was having an effect on the Scorn and would intelligent Scorn be created from this.
Fikrul is an enemy and is likely serving The Witness. The Witness likely convinced him by telling him that his father Uldren Sov, was not only killed, but resurrected in the light, just like his enemies. That would push for him to side with the Witness against us out of anger and spite. Given what we did to Fikrul, it wouldn't surprise me to see him come back a disciple, and for Eramis to leave and try to bring her house with her, knowing what Fikrul is capable of.
I've been thinking about this for a while, since in one mission or activity (I can't recall which) Fikrul is specifically brought up- specifically, his absence. The snippet is about not knowing where he is or what he's up to, despite the Scorn being all over.
I think it would be super interesting if they had Fikrul fight AGAINST the Witness in order to protect the Scorn's autonomy. Obviously he hates us, so it would be more an 'enemy of my enemy' thing, but it would be a super interesting plot-point if they did it.
On the subject of 'wild cards' there's also the Savathun with her Lucent Brood, the Vex that aren't part of the Sol Divisive and maybe Clovis Bray I depending how this season rolls. If any of these including Fikrul were to go against The Witness, I'm seeing not as allies but more of an 'enemy of my enemy' scenario.
Kelgorath, Fikrul, and Taniks, channeling their best FNAF impersonations: *WE ALWAYS COME BACK*
I have a feeling he’s already become a disciple. That’s why we haven’t seen him much, but have seen a lot of scorn recently.
I personally feel like there's a third possibility past the Yirix and Eramis routes, and that's a sort of Xivu Arath route, with Fikrul being subservient to the Witness, but still able to act as a leader for the Scorn, like how Xivu's loyal to the Witness but is able to control her Hive. To me, the Witness knows leaders can be valuable assets, with Xivu's tact and creation of the Wrathborn and with Calus's cloning operation acting as his way of creating a military, so the Fanatic could prove to be similarly valuable if he has no wavering loyalties with the Witness, having someone capable of resurrecting both himself and other Scorn forces on the Witness's side could be a great boon on the battle of attrition in the Sol System. Besides, you could make the argument that he even already has his own Glaive in the form of his staff
I think both eramis and fikurl will reach a breaking point and either turn on the witness and be destroyed. Or they just abandon the witness and neither help us or hindering us, they just stay out of the fight and just survive with what few survivors that can peel away from the witness. In either case I think they there will be a civil war between the followers of the witness and the followers of eramis and fikurl.
I could see Ina future season, the forces of the light facing down a massive overwhelming tide of scorn and Fikrul showing up with a solution, something along the lines of flooding the battlefield with 'light' aether, counteracting the dark aether and reverting all the scorn zombies to their dead state, while the light and dark in the aether cancel each other out. This could take place in the Eliksni quarter and we'd have to go in with guardian servitors to collect the newly cleansed aether to prevent some our more ambitious Eliksni friends from snatching it all up and becoming a Kell with an army of archons, barons, and captains at his back (or her back? Possible Eido connection?)
Taniks had the power to return again!! Lol
I want to see interactions between Fikrus and Eramis. She could show him what the witness is doing to the fallen and they have something in common that they thought they could give fallen a new power to make them free. They or savathun could play the same roll that Mara sov played in the taken king. Kamikazi
I really like the idea of a season centered around fikrul and the crow, with them kinda giving their opinions about life and death and what demons crow conquered on the leviathan. Maybe the season finale the fanatic gets an ahamkara bone and wishes for full control of the scorn and joins our side. That would be super cool.
So at the time of Riven's death she was under the reins of Savathun. But since that event the Witness has taken back the reins and given them to Xivu Arath for command of the Taken. We have heard of tons of Ahamkara dying and still influencing people with their wish magic after death. Now none of those Ahamkara were Taken as far as we know, except our girl Riven. Do you think its possible we could see some kind of Wild Card moment of the Witness or Xivu using Riven or her influence/Wish Magic against us?
Season of the Seraph’s writing seems to hint at Rasputin dying. Either permanently this time, sacrificing himself to ensure humanity’s survival, or temporarily. As his namesake could have him come back later, having survived another near-death experience. He could also return as a Guardian, having possibly met the criteria to be chosen by the Light. His son was after all, and perhaps regain his memories as the Warmind. Or, something much more unexpected could happen as a twist: Eramis sacrificing herself, her own life, to save Rasputin’s. In an attempt to ensure his safety after Rasputin is kidnapped by a servant of Xivu, and we, along with Eramis’ sacrifice, save him. But, this is just a theory, as Bungie once intended to use this storyline of rescuing Rasputin from Oryx back in D1.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I recall in Season of the Haunted the Nightmare of Uldren was talking about how Crow is their (supposed) father. Maybe Crow could make himself useful instead of sitting at the back of the HELM pouting.
Therapist: Byf talking during the intro isn't real, he can't hurt you.
Byf talking during the intro:
This sparks a bit of hope that the story of Riven and the Ahamkara isn't quite over yet. As all the major players take the stage and gear up for the confrontation, what a twist it would be if a Wish Dragon joined the battle theatre.
Yes was craving new byf today !
So i feel like it could go something like this. Crow interacts with Fikrul (maybe some character development, maybe guilt felt from Uldren Sov side), Fikrul and him semi repair their relationship. Fikrul works with us begrudingly like Eramis does with the Witness. Fikrul becomes Lucent Scorn leading lucent scorn for us. Him having a ghost can overwrite part of the wish magic making him "mortal". Witness enhances the darkness in scorn to mark them as his forces bisecting the scorn people. Witness kills Fikrul through his ghost. (insert part where we are supposed to be sad) Fikrul being dead kills the lucent hive as a whole. Eramis sees this the connection to eliksni which pushes her off the deep end to break away from them and make her own house allied with house of light.
my man came out the gate way faster than usual with the commentary
As things have kept evolving in the story, I'm starting to think that maybe, in the end, there will be no Eliksni siding with darkness. If each faction is being subdivided between Coalition and Witness, maybe the dividing line between light and dark winds up being Eliksni and Scorn, rather than some Eliksni and some Scorn on each side. I'm still pulling for Eramis, Kell of Kells, Reborn in the Light.
Yeah, Calus had this 'mechanic' for raids, but since they vaulted it :( ...
laying it out like this draws a bit of a line in my mind that during forsaken they switched the narrative up to the witness thread, like yeah we have always had pyramid ships and sure they meant to have a big bad the whole time, but what that big bad could do seems to have been left in the air until forsaken and then with shadowkeep boom this is the plan going forward and i feel like the witness wasn't supposed to control the scorn at first, i think they were just a nebulus faction that now forsaken is vaulted needed a home and it just made sense they were a thing of the witness
My bet (for now) is that there is 2 possibilities both of them have the Fanatic refusing the Witness and is either 1: Subjugated and forced to create and control Scorn according to the will of the Witness similar to how Rhulk Subjugated the Worm mother or 2: On the run after the Witness ripped control of the Scorn from him. Perhaps now that Crow has his memories back he can once again save and convert him towards the light in someway.
Not to spam but I think it would really add to the story to have the Fanatic become a double agent of sorts. Imagine if you would during lightfall, we get a message from him to Crow. He would offer intel and places to strike to try and disrupt the witnesses plans. But only if “father” (crow) is our go between. That alone offers so many great story potentials. It also would allow crow a chance to come into his own and take the mantle of hunter vanguard given the dare
Fikrul still sees crow as "Father" crows ability to assume that role to repent for pass sins will tip the scorn
So an idea on how Fikrul might be able to get control of the scorn again. It will probably need the help of Mara because she is right now the one with the most knowledge of wish magic. The idea is Fikrul will have to expend his own immortality (wish magic) to "wish" for total control of the scorn, but in doing so no longer be immortal. This would remove them.from the witnesses control and limit the threat of Fikrul.
Byf woke up today and chooses violence. I like this.
Very interesting take. I’m curious about your thoughts on Savathun, the remaining worm gods, the Vex, and the Nine. How will they be integrated back into the story, if at all?
Honestly i think it would be a great lead-up season to the Final Shape to have us and Fikrul begrudgingly work together to sever the witness's control to some degree, enough for Fikrul to start a rebellion.
Fikrul doesn't even have to be our ally by the end of it, just so long as they divide the witness's forces its a win
But like, I feel we're forgetting that the scorn talked and had personalities and were presented as another flavour of raider until... The Glykon. I think the Scorn became the mindless zombie army that they are now when it was discovered that they could serve as a vessel for the egregore, that they were attuned to that hive mind frequency and could make contact with it.
we might need the evil containment wave if were gonna take down fikrul
i need a season next year centered around fikrul, crow, mara, petra and the curse on the dreaming city. really hope that curse thread gets wrapped up before final shape
Mara is at fault for that
i don't think the scorn are generally mindless because in season of the lost we see the scorn create their own crucible wich to me indicates that they are somewhat aware of what they are doing
No one seems to remember that during Lost, Characters would comment that the Scorn were beginning to form some sort of culture and rituals of their own, stuff that had nothing to do with Da Dankness.
At the same time, we don’t really have a good read on the Lucent Hive yet either. They were fighting against us and the the Witness, so we don’t know what they may do in LightFall.
I’m actually amazed either the Witness or the Hive are willing to work with the scorn. As “zombies”, the scorn are actually more like something created by the Light than by the Dark.
The Darkness, Witness and Hive are all about the Final Shape and survival of the fittest. The Skorn do not subscribe to this at all as they does and are resurrected over and over just like guardians. They may not be paracausal but they appear to be more like guardians than Hive.
Byf speedrunning that intro rn.
My head cannon is that we will eventually team up with Fikrul, resurrect all the barons and use their combined powers to steal something from witness like in those casino or bank robbery movies.
And of course there will be moments of discomfort during this story, but it will all end up in all of us slowly going away from some kind of Witness’ facility while it is exploding.
Mithrax - hacker
Fikrul - the team leader.
Machinist - she’ll get the stuff needed for the robbery
Mind bender - he’ll be that guy who pretends to be a guard or other bank worker to get some data or infiltrate more easily
Trickster - probably same as mind bender
Hangman - one of those to brake in and destroy crap while shooting an smg into the roof
Mad Bomber - the guy who brakes the vault door
Rifle man - probably same as Hangman
The Rider - she’ll be the one driving.
killing praksis in our weekly seraph shield missions makes him the second boss where we have to kill him multiple times because of his scorn resurrection
I fully want Fikrul to be a raid boss at some point in the future. Maybe even Lightfall's raid boss.
The scenario there is simple: Fikrul hates the Traveker, the Guardians, and especially us, far too much to pass up an offer of power from the Witness. If I remember correctly, Fikrul wasn't that fond of the Traveler even when he was alive.
What I expect is for him to grab as many Scorn as he can start building his own army on the side to wipe out the City, with a future Season or DLC centering around putting him in the ground for good.
I have a feeling crow might also play a part in fikruls choice
The scorn serve a means to an end a rescource in unlimited supply to exploit compared to having to use what ever army they have
what if Eramis and Fikrul teamed up? they both simply want a good life for their people, after after seeing what the witness has done to them, they might team up together, if not with us, to fight back. they’re both fallen (sort of, in fikrul’s case), they’re both trying to protect their people, and both have been betrayed by the witness, so it’s not too hard to see them teaming up. perhaps even joining together and forming a new house? the notes eramis left in the spire of the watcher mentioned moving on from old, failed traditions- what if they co-head said house and we get this scorn-fallen mix to possibly aid us in battle?
I have a hard time seeing fikrul as siding with us but would love to see him and crow reunited say in a season of the fanatic
Eramis as a Scorn along with Clovis Bray using Cayde-9's body in Calus Raid soon
I think bungie has forgotten Fikrul for the moment in wonderance of a shinier new toy. There is another possible route that ensures the scorn's freedom. Taking our side in this conflict, and only taking dead eliksni to grow their own numbers after rituals of love and respect, funeral rites have been performed. Each scorn given a will of their own, born again as the child of the person they were before, A psuedo guardian it their own right. Each new scorn raised with respect given to who they were in life, and love for who they are becoming, reborn or raised in service not only of the scorn, but for the survival of the people they left behind. To see the the eldest and wisest of scorn act as advisors for new scorn and counselors for living eliksni seeking the wisdom of their dead elders or of their ancestors. Taking the aspect of community and family back into context with these two peoples is the only route I can see to mutually assured survival for them both.
I bet we will have the lucent hive on our side at some point. Savathuns plan to steal the traveler failed. If she happened to come back in the future, her back is against a wall. She has to join us at this point. And we know that she could be capable of changing, thanks to some lore entries from her perspective while using Osiris. Would be funny if they made a full 180 and she became the hive god of trust or something.
In the strike:
Fikrul: Killers
Guardians: HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE TEACH YOU THIS LESSON OLD MAN?
I think fikrul as well as any adversary in the game has potential to change allegiance (besides maybe vex) but the scorn are a very wild group so it might not be a normal alliance I could see them maybe getting desperate and needing any help they can get but I don’t expect them to be on our side for long
One thing I hope they bring up is riven being linked to the guardian forever since she died. That’s mentioned in shattered throne I think unless I’m wrong and riven will never come back.
Fikrul would be reduced to a former shell of himself: a mindless pawn who’s will has become overwhelmed by the Witness’s. But the only sensible redemption for him is for Crow to put a permanent but merciful end to his misery; which serves as a callback to Uldren and a proper conclusion to their character arc.
I think that, whatever happens, Crow will play a large part in it. We don't know if Fikrul knows about Crow (or if he does, how he feels about him), but I don't think that Fikrul's obedience to Uldren will go uncommented-on by the story.
12:34 lock him and taniks in a room. Taniks will kill him a lot till Fykril finally gets him BUT later down the line Taniks will return and repeat the process until ONE of them stays DEAD
It’s a weird sort of Karmic destiny where the Fanatic is brought back by Uldrin, and Crow is brought back by the traveler.
I feel like the biggest factor of whether or not Fikrul will join us lies with Crow cuz while he may feel betrayed he still thinks of Crow or rather Uldren Sov as his father
I feel like Fikrul as a disciple of the Witness would be pretty scary due to the fact he can resurrect himself.
