Hello and welcome to BOAB Models - today we will build a replica of the first Morris Mini Minor - 621 AOK from 1959. I'm using the Heller 1/43 scale kit as the basis and will print custom decals and convert it to right hand drive.
Footage filmed at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
The Mini is a small, two-door, four-seat car, developed as ADO15, and produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors, from 1959 through 2000. Minus a brief hiatus, original Minis were built for four decades and sold during six, from the last year of the 1950s into the last year of the 20th century, over a single generation, as fastbacks, estates, and convertibles.

Nice job Thomas, nice modifications to achieve the model you were depicting. Thanks for the video. 😎
Thanks Richard!
Looks just like the real thing! Very nice
Turned out great, nice modifications to make the MK1 👍
😮wow great job. Loved the creative options
Very nice build. A neat looking kit. Very creative to make those additional parts and pieces. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Michael.
VERY NICE LOOKING BUILD
Thanks a lot!
Very Very cool ❤
Cheers Shaun!
Superb, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
Sweet mini mini in 1/43. But to small for my sausage fingers to build. Love the changes you made to make it more like the original. And that broken white color is spot on from that time. Another nice build from you thomas.
Thanks so much, Jan! I have made so many 1/43 scale kits this last 12 months as they are so much easier when short of time. I hope to get more 1/24 stuff done this year though.
Nice work Thomas, cool replica there. Well done.
Cheers Karl, thanks for watching.
HI there Thomas, Mini turned out really good, nice mods to make the earlier version. I've made this kit and both side windows decided to not stick to anything, so my mini now has constant air-conditioning.
Haha! Yeah, I found they wouldn't stay in place without a bit of sanding at the front. Thanks very much for watching!
Great conversion build on the mini, the ‘clock’ is the speedometer although I think you meant that, just me :) my parents first car was a mk1 mini, pull cord door openers:) best for us kids was the rear side windows had catches to slightly open them, model on
Ha, yeah I just meant it as a clock face. This first one has the pull cord 'handles' too. Was it an Austin or Morris do you remember?
@@BOABModels I honestly don’t know, it was blue if that helps :) we were young when my parents had it, unfortunately my mum was involved in a serious accident in it, lucky to survive but car was a write off, we then had a light brown mk1 Vauxhall viva, and no it wasn’t called Oliver :) which is same but badged as Opel, need to visit the motor museum again.
@@Sarah-JaneR32sorry to hear about that. You should definitely get back to the museum - there's a lot of Vauxhalls there now too.
Lovely bit of modeling there. I like the idea Of creating replicas of known cars with provenance. I do have a question though. Apologies if you've covered it before but how do you go about creating your own decals/number plates. Can I recommend a "Mr bean" mini as the next 1/43 mini build. Much love and keep up the great work.
Thanks James, and yes - here's my custom decal video. th-cam.com/video/SbxyZFTgZ6U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WU_cz_YAa-qgr4-Y
I've mentioned it before but I forget that not everyone has seen all my vids. Cheers - I do have some other Minis planned but may look at the Bean one too.
someone has to say and no one has yet so i'll do it lol. that's a mini mini lol
It is definitely that!
