I just loved this, Andrea is so fresh and alive and her love for knitting and her projects is contagious. It was funny, fast moving and just the right time frame to catch it over lunch. Thank you one hundred times for this interview.
I love that the fade patterns has allowed me to slowly support different dyers and save up for a sweaters worth of quality yarn! Instead of buying it all at once, I was able to slowly accumulate and I am so thankful for that!
YES! And, another idea that Shanna on Lambstrings was telling me about...her friend tried to find a fade at a yarn festival, buying a 1 skein from all different dyers so it was supporting many businesses and also a scrapbook of the festival!
Andrea is just the sweetest! She found ME at Rhinebeck 2016 wearing one of her designs. Then I found her at VKNYC 2017 with the FYF. My absolute favorite of her shawl designs is Briochealuscious. I'm so glad for her success with the fade-fad. Thanks Kristy for adding this to your library!
Watching this while on vacation. What could be better?! So much fun! When you both started to talk about nursing your babies my heart swelled. one of my favorite things ever. Special cuddle time. And knitting!!! Totally loved the "boop" moments. Aren't they wonderful? Thanks for the wonderful slumber party interview!
Oh my gosh!! I have so much LOVE for this episode!! I'm a knitter, 38 weeks pregnant and haven't had a job for the last year but before that I've worked since I was like 13 years old. THANK YOU Kristy and Andrea for your honest mom-talk about knitting while nursing (I am so glad to hear that it's possible, because I have to figure it out) and also about doing what you love in order to invest in yourselves so you can be able to be great (and sane) for your kids.
There were so many affirming things said in this interview. I'm actually going to watch it again. Thank you for always doing these amazing interviews. It's like having knitting best friends to hang out with.
Andrea is so great! I contacted her expanding the size of one of her patterns. She was so wonderful. She responded and quickly worked on adding to the pattern. Now I have it on my needles!! Great interview. So fun. I'm sure everyone had huge smiles watching!
I love your interviewing techniques Kristy. You manage to keep it relaxed but still manage to keep it on topic, well done. Your selection of makers, designers is awesome. Thank you!! Keep it up!!
Love Love Loved this! I could have watched you two talk for hours. Andrea is just a ray of sunshine! We need to give her more reasons to visit the east coast bc my heart just misses her...
Working on my What the Fade as I listen - tried my first brioche on Speckle and Pop and immediately wanted to find a pattern where I could brioche more - loving it!
I definitely think that the knitting community got more interested in color from Andrea! I love hearing her talk about Michigan, because she must live within an hour from where I live if she's talking about Zingerman's. One of my favorite bakeries and restaurants (they have a deli, restaurant, and bakery). Hopefully I'll get to meet her at Spun in Ann Arbor for a brioche class this year!
Wow! Andrea Mowry is the cutest thing on the planet. You two are two peas in a pod. I love how Kristy finds common ground with her interviewees, like how Andrea pronounces words like she does because they're both from the Midwest and raising children and breastfeeding. Kirsty, you really do a fantastic job of bringing out the best in your interview subjects, and I think it's because you're just yourself. Brava! Great interview.
Thank you for a wonderful interview with Andrea Mowry, and all the others you interview. Your podcast is enjoyable, educational, fun and “nice”. Great job.
Oh my gosh. You are both so adorable. Andrea I am so obsessed with your talents. I would love to be able to attend your classes. Would love to know where you are travelling
Oh you two were so much fun together! Every time I see an Andrea Mowry interview I think to myself “Wow! She is super relaxed and relatable and creative!” I have giant fan girl crushes on you both! 🤓
You could be right, Kristy, but in my case I've been interested in dyeing yarn for about 5 years now. I never had time to do it all (knit, crochet, dye, etc.), while I was working 50 hrs a week. I finally took the plunge, and dyed my first skein, 6 months ago, while on a leave from work. I am so drawn to it, it has to be my calling. I am now in the process of starting up my business. I will say that Andrea Mowry's fade designs are really helping with the indy dyer's success and popularity, right now.
I was watching your wonderful interview with Andrea Mowry and loved the color combo you used with your fade sweater. Can you please let me know what yarn and colors you utilized? Thanks!
I enjoyed this so much!!!! Andrea seems like such a cool down to earth person!!! Would love to meet her someday & her patterns are amazing! Thx for the great interview Kristy!! ❤️
You don’t know how excited I was to see this video pop up. Two of my favorite ladies!!!! Thanks you so much for the interview and the validation that it is all right to want to knit with all kinds of yarn and all the different things. I keep thinking I should have a “style” of knitting but now I can knit worry free ‘cause Kristy and Andrea say it is OK!!!!!
Such an inspiring and joyful conversation. Thank you both! And neither of you do those weird armless hand movements that so many people are doing right now.
I really enjoyed the interview, Kristy, very interesting to hear Andrea’s story and learn about her process. Very inspiring! Plus, I made some progress on my Cathedral Grove! Win-win! Thanks!
I have yet to cast on a Find Your Fade, but seriously I cannot look at yarn without thinking how it would look as a FYF. For real, it has re wired my brain. She did that!
I love Andrea so much! She is so talented, cool, beautiful & humble! I want to be her OR at least be her friend. I have to say she has done wonders for indie dyers but I was first aware of Mara Catherine Bryan (Orange knits) first doing her gorgeous blends and using amazing indie dyed yarn for her knits. I'm not sure who did it first (as if it even matters!) but Andrea and Mara are def the queens of melting/blending/fading (WHATEVER YOU CALL IT IT IS BEAUTIFUL!)
This was SOOOO much fun to watch! You are both just lovely, fun and talented. And I enjoyed this so much. Thank you both and hugs! 💞 💞 / Disa from Sweden
Again, I watched your video with a huge big smile on my face. Both of you gorgeous ladies must have been so pressed for time but I just didn't want it to end.. I was willing the red line underneath you both to not.. reach... the.. end!
Okay, I'm not going to comment on everything, but Zingerman's is a MUST do Ann Arbor thing. I'm in Ann Arbor, I also dye, but do NOT cook after being over a hot stove all day. Sorry. Ann Arbor and Austin are a lot alike. I'm a Vegetarian and could be Vegan, lazy here, and Ann Arbor has a lot of restaurants now that are just perfect.
Oh Dears I had My first i went back In for Final checkup and he said i was pregnat agian ...Dauter Was Born 2 Days Before My Sons 1st Birthday...Aleta Sneed

She is sooooo gracious.
Kristy I love your sweater can you tell us what pattern it is?
I want to know too! I tried to find it on Ravelry without any luck. It's not one of Andrea's, is it? Also, awesome interview. One of my favorites.
Fadito by JOJI with NO SLEEVES
FADITO by Joji with no sleeves
janmosley
The pattern is called Granito. The designer, on Ravelry, is JOJI. It is a beautiful sweater pattern.
My middle name is Renee! For the longest time no one named their daughters Renee. I'm so glad its come back!
It's a great name!

What is the sweater you’re wearing. It’s a great pattern.
I am wearing the Fadito with no sleeves
Kristy-how did you work your fade on this pattern? I’m totes copying you ☺️ but I’ve not worked a Fade yet.
Awesome interview Kristy! You mentioned an embroidery company with vintage embroidery. Can you please let me know what that was called. Thanks
