Massive Whistles, Gongs and Ship Horns at Night

- Had the opportunity to bring some of my more air hungry whistles/horns out too a remote location and let them rip in the middle of the night! We are on top of a hill in a large gorge and the echos are great. Unfortunately it’s really hard to capture the true power of these horns/whistles on a camera and the echos in person are very intense. We have a total of 1160 Gallons with 2 industrial compressors being powered by a 30KW military grade generator. 4 sheriffs did show up around 2 in the morning as they had calls/complaints as far out as 7 miles away haha. They ended up hanging out with us for a hour or so and honked more whistles and sirens hah. #steamwhistle #shiphorn #gong #steam
The 1903 Sinker&Davis Whistle is my favorite cuz my hometown paper mill used it every day until she shut down last year
That thing has sooooo much power
Hearing the F3 brought music to my ears 👌
Nashville predators goal horn
Yea I love that one too
I'm glad you share all this cool stuff with us
You guys sure know how to have fun wish I could have been there.
My goodness, the echoes give me chills but it's satisfying at the same time!
The siren is a Federal sign and signal or federal signal model 5 signal tone
There is a dual tone version.
which is 9/12 port, single tone is 12 port
The model type for both is Model 5 or Model 5T.
My goodness. The sustain on those echoes is insane! As always, those Sinker Davis gongs have such an amazing and powerful sound, and I always love a branch whistle.
Yea that Gong is something else. Such an Erie sound. Super cool to hear in person.
My favorite airchime configuration is a km200 km165 and a km135
Hey Dillon, do you sandblast your horns before repainting? If so, I'm wondering what your sandblasting setup is since I'm looking to get started with that at home. I've got some older clunky horns and general metal items that need a good clean yet I'm not trying to scrub or buff the oxidation and grime. Also, a general shop tour would be cool if you haven't made one already. I'm sure lots of folks would like to see the behind-the-scenes of where the magic happens.
Cheers.
That's music sound to my ears 😮😮 wooow the echos
7:10 kinda reminds me of SpongeBobs fog horn alarm clock lol 😂
Awesome video. the echoes were staggering. Also that MKT 230/75 is the big horn you'd hear on the James R. Barker and the QE2. That siren is more likely to be a Federal Model 7 then an STH-10. Kinda wish you kept the video a little bit longer during the steam siren part that siren was making some echoe's you'd hear in a horror movie.
Gotcha and yea I agree. That thing was killer. We played with it quite a bit but developed a big leak at the flange mount and the leaking air sound killed my audio. I can only imagine what that sounded like a mile away. We did have 4 sheriffs show up due too multiple calls. We were out there till 3am honking lol. They were cool though and ended up hanging with us for an hour or so thinking various whistles/horns. They didn’t care. Said they had calls as far out as 7miles away.
Hot damn! Awesome! Where was this filmed?
Hills of KY
That almost sounds like titanic’s whistle on air but high pressured 1:24
Yea I can see that. That thing is a beast. Unfortunately this video really doesn’t portray the power of these whistles actually have.
It looks like the Titanic’s whistle.
It's probably a very similar model if not identical to Titanic's. It looks the same and sounds very similar to recordings of Mauretania's whistle, which was the same as Titanic's
Lol the yacht horn is a 7 chord
im gonna guess that the siren is a Federal Signal STH-10
Yea I think that’s right.
Federal Model 7.
@@supertyfon1736 model 7 was 10hp?
@@peanutmwo6001 7.5 hp.
@@supertyfon1736 it says its a 10hp siren
