Gear I use:
Guitar: changes by the video. i use a lot of fender, and gibson. but feel free to ask specifics.
Pickups: all of my guitars use different pickups depending on what suits them but i will say Bare Knuckle Pickups are my favorite and preferred brand. feel free to ask specifics
Amps: Fractal AxeFX 2 for the guitar tone on my covers, lessons, and original music . i almost always use Orange AD30 presets but sometimes some Friedman, Soldano and others sneak in.. i dont typically use real amps anymore. certainly not in my videos just for convenience.
Strings: 9-46 are my main string gauge for fenders. i'll use 10-52 on Gibsons typically. i tend to flip flop between Ernie Ball and D'addario.
Picks: i tend to use .73mm Tortex but i'll use .60mm for faster strumming songs or for Bass guitar.
DAW: Reaper for all my recording software.

See, I thought the exact opposite. Billies earlier style was pentatonic and messy. This didn't sound like that at all. This sounds more like a solo from an Avril Lavigne song.

@@Giablo1 I disagree. I linked a perfect example of Billie's style from a song off Kerplunk. If Basket Case had a solo it would have been written in 1993, not in modern day so staying true to the title of this video would mean only stylizing it after what Green Day music was released at the time of Dookie.
City of Shoes I’m with you, I never found any of billies solos as complex as this, most of Green Day’s solos are small little melodic bits to bridge into the chorus

I was expecting this to be something like crazy shredding solo that does not fit in the song.

I've always liked to believe that this spot before the final chorus was intended for a solo but they never got around to adding one. It just sounds so empty.
In my oppinion it sounds way better because there isn't any solo.

At the time, it just the trio. So Billie was handling guitar all by himself and singing. This meant that if they put solos in the songs that were played over a rhythm guitar part, Billie wouldn't be able to play it live without it all sounding empty because he was the only guitarist. That's why you don't really hear solos in their music much until Jason white was recruited around the nimrod era in 1997.
This is the perfect amount of flare. Nothing too fancy or over the top, but super catchy and interesting. I can totally see this being shredded by BJA.
Don’t do this onstage with the band or else Jason White will lose his job.

Yeah I hear ya there. Jason is a great player, but it never feels like he’s a 4th member of the band lead guitarist who rips solos, but I’m guessing that’s because he’s not supposed to be since GD were always a trio

The first thing that I noticed is that each chord strummed, the middle finger is up. I think that kinda sums up Green Day quite nicely.
