Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, fellow Whovians; we have the immense privilege of living in a reality where Derek Jacobi is the Master! Suddenly, the world doesn’t seem so bad.
@@jq9474 I wouldn't go quite as far as "destroying", but I haven't been impressed with these last two seasons, and Big Finish is what's kept me a Whovian.
It's hard to listen to these box sets and not come away with Derek Jacobi as your favourite incarnation of The Master. Writers like James Goss and Guy Adams should be writing Doctor Who for television. If you're still not sure about taking the leap into the Big Finish range, dipping your toes into Only The Good should give you a very good idea of what you're getting into, the potential of the medium, and the lovably sinister performance Derek Jacobi lends to a character often let down by The Doctor's presence in the story. When given his own story he shines as the dark influence hiding behind a warm-hearted demeanor and the kind of humble, vulnerable mannerisms only an actor like Derek Jacobi can deliver. He tempts you to trust him, and it's easy to fall under his spell.
Is it his diary or would it be yanna's Because if john smith remembered being the doctor and his dreams I hate to imagine what poor professor yana dreamed of Is remembering Being a charming mastermind in the seventies Remember clinging to his own corpse Stealing a body and getting a new lease on life just to lose that one Repeating the process. Addressing to the occasion Finally, being restored to his glory Is just to battle in the war turn to hell
Absolutely fantastic. True darkness at it’s best coupled with wit and irony that places him above all other villains with ease. So looking fwd to this!
No spoilers for hearts of darkness, but I love the way this trailer and it’s premise kind of foreshadows what ends up being the premise for hearts of darkness itself.
I will always have memories of listening to the War Master Box Sets in the freezing cold at 1am and just being absolutely captivated - I’m so sad that I’m caught up now but there’s more to come. Now Tennant has returned as the Doctor, since the forced regeneration is what caused that could the same happen to the Master and he regenerates back into Jacobi? That’d be so wonderful
So many great War Master stories. I hope one day soon we get a boxed set where the War Master comes across the Twelve. After all the Twelve may want to attempt revenge for what happened to the Eleven...."three times over!"
Jacobi is the only one of the modern Masters that deserves to be mentioned next to the brilliant Roger Delgado. So unfortunate that RTD chose the clown master template that sadly they are still using to this day. Jacobi is a modern version of the pure evil villain Delgado played . If only we could have a modern version of a "James Bond" Doctor like Pertwee was...
I mean, I get that everyone has their preference but I feel like it’s a bit unfair to call the other masters clowns just because they’re less like Delgado.
@@madanotap6492 The original clown master John Simm, Simm with vagina ( aka Missy) and the Indian Simm/looney tunes Master. John Simm dancing to track 3 is still the most disgraceful thing they have done to the character. The successors of Delgado in the classic series were acceptable especially the burned master.
@@tenshiigarashi4063 Again, you’re really not being fair to any of them there. The thing you’ve got to remember is that they are not delgado and aren’t supposed to be. The track 3 moment you’re referring to would be out of character for delgado in much the same way that fish fingers and custard would be out of character for the first doctor. But that’s the point of regeneration.
Get past the voices that I could listen to read the phone book You'll realize that Delgado and Jacobi are the same Saturday morning cartoon villains as the rest of them You can hear him twirling non-existent mustache I'm quite fond of it, but yeah, the master is just a cheesy cartoon villain with a body count
Pre ordered & love the War Master audios. On just a side note Big Finish can you make sure the discs are clipped and not rattling inside, been having lot issues with the 5cd jewel cases lately last 4 5cd releases all been damaged.
The Master(Roberts): Hey! You need to be a bit more polite or you won't like what happens! The Master(Jacobi): and neither will you a few regenerations down the line. I'd advise against doing anything hasty
If he says so he probably did Most of the characters have a bunch of offscreen adventures Heck, the character of Jim. The fish is literally a joke about that. Everyone in universe has met him. But The audience hasn't
Sir Derek Jacobi is brilliant as the Master. It’s impossible to describe with words just how much I love his incarnation of the Master
Fast becoming my favourite incarnation.
Second best after Roger.

2020: ''You can have this ONE good thing.''
Yes. A privilege and misery of seeing Chris Chibnall destroy DW

I'm a simple whovian - I see War Master, I click play 😊
Chan- I can't believe they put Chantho his journal -tho.
I think it’s great! Nice nod to Utopia
"You... with your Chan and your Tho... driving me INSANE!"
The most interesting thing about Derek Jacobi's Master is that in "Utopia" he was not evil. In fact he was the opposite when his memories were hidden.

Not really. Roger is still my favourite.
The War Master's diary would be fantastic if it got published as a proper book to buy.

Ahhh! This looks excellent!
Also love that TARDIS interior.
It does seem cool. Liked the war masters last one but this one is also pretty dece
Looks like another great box set.
The last run was amazing, hopefully these met, perhaps even raise that standard.
God this reminds me how amazing a readable journal of impossible things would be
Yes! I've had the hearts of darkness pre ordered for a while now, can't wait to listen to it!
This made me soooo happy. A great actor and a great creation........or is he?
How superb is Derek Jacobi as the Master
yes, got the latest War Master Boxset as part of my Birthday haul.
just listened to episode 1 and it's pure audio chocolate.

That's the voice.⏏️🤗⏏️

Oh Derek Jacobi, you Glorious Bastard :D
Sir Derek Jacobi is an amazing Master! Those are definitely on my wishlist for Christmas!
Jacobi is fantastic. I never though anyone would come close to Delgado for be but Jacobi done it.
This dubbing is Derek's voice, I like his voice
Well I most certainly would hope so considering he's the star of the box set

This is awesome... Especially since he played him in Scream of the Shalka
Love this
It certainly looked stunning. Far superior and intriguing that the revamped TV Series.
About to listen to it now! SUPER hyped!!!

You can get the first 1 for free form bigfinsh. I have finished listening to it and it was amazing
This is just wonderful
OH I CANT WAIT FOR THIS!!!
I think Derek is enjoying himself?!
For a second is sounded like David Atombra (I know the spelling is wrong, I am terrible at it)

Is there a book(i.e. the time war.) with all these illustrations out there? it'd be great to get it.
Hope you officially release the new middle 8 theme somewhere
1:20 sneaky Ten!
Indeed! Find out more about that at the Big Finish website here: bgfn.sh/ed

There needs to be a story where the War Master meets Eric Roberts.
You might like to check out Ravenous 4... and the upcoming Masterful.
They already met in Day of the Master

Did the master help free the ood? I don’t remember that

Nice try, but you won't bamboozle me that easily.
