On a cruise, a small group of young boys asked if I wanted to buy a bracelet. They were trying to raise money for a team, according to them, but they looked so scared. I didn't see any adult with them. No, I don't want to be approached on a ship by random people even if they ARE adorable. At the moment, I was celebrating with my husband.
Agree with Carnival’s policy. My kids sold lots of stuff as fundraisers for their school and extracurricular activities. I’d never think to have them sell stuff on vacation. And I don’t want kids selling me stuff while I’m on vacation,
We’re in the season of selling Girl Scout cookies now, and trying to meet our goal and get my granddaughter cookies sold; but I don’t support that idea either! This will open the door for so many other things to be sold on the ship. So many of us do understand the rule of not being allowed to sell “items” onboard 😇
How does selling cookies line up with limitations on food brought onto the ship? Another thing, how many people are strolling around the ship with cash? Finally, now we are teaching girls there is no downtime even for vacation? How fair is it to girls to turn their vacation into a business opportunity?
There are enough cruise line money grabs we don't need another one!! My granddaughter sells Girl Scout cookies, and her troop sells more than they need without having to sell them on cruise ships!!
Allowing it would set a bad precedent. Can you imagine suddenly everywhere people have booths set up? It would look like a craft fair or rummage sale fair or something.
This was brought up last year too! As a mother of a guide, NO! No you cannot sell your cookies on a cruise ship!!! People have spent enough already. Nobody wants to buy cookies or be solicited while on vacation
Girl Scout cookies are made in factories, not the home. Even so, I suspect the parents saw a way to get $$$$ quick, and get the kids' commitment over and done with in a couple of days, rather than having to canvass a neighborhood. What nobody has brought up is that IF the cruise line had said yes, they'd have wanted a cut of the cookie money for providing the venue where the cookies were being sold. So it wouldn't have been profitable for the kids anyway.
It's bad enough that people come knocking at your door and outside various venues you visit trying to sell you something. And definitely when on vacation I don't want to be asked to buy something.
Actually it’s more about the selling than food safety. They have strict rules about people wanting to sell or advertise their products whether it’s food or not. What they (and all cruise lines for that matter) don’t want is to make it seem like it’s a Carnival sponsored product because if something goes wrong they will go to Carnival not the seller.
Agree with Celebrity and any other cruise line. Hawking Girl Scout cookies are bad enough. I can buy the equivalent of their cookies at the grocery stores much cheaper. If they let them then everybody wanting to squeeze the bucks out of us will want to do it too.
If you want to support the girls, on land, ask them how much their troop makes on a box and give the money to them. Or just give them the money for a box without taking the cookies. It surprises the younger kids, but the adult will usually assure them it’s okay. Note, the council get some money too but I don’t worry about that.
As a mom of a daughter who was in girl guides for more than 13 years and she has sold many, many boxes of cookies over the years. We also went on a few cruises and fully support Carnival. That is a very entitled family and simply can't allow that to happen.
This is yet another example of self-involved, entitled people who just don't get it because they think everything's all about them. 🙄 Not to mention, what are they teaching and modelling to their girl guide daughters? 😒
2:44 On my cruise line having worked onboard for 22 years, solicitations of any kind including travel agents are not allowed. As well, selling food products of which we have no control over quality, conditions etc is strictly forbidden. Not with standing the annoyance factor.
I agree with Carnival! The last thing I would want is folks coming around selling stuff. First Girl Scout cookies, then Boy Scout popcorn, school band candy bars, etc. it would never stop. There was also no mention of how this would play out in foreign ports when the shops and casino must be closed.
Next thing Aunt Mildred will want to sell her crocheted potholder or Grandpa Ralph wants to sell his wood carved birds. Let's just call it a Flea Market cruise.
They should totally set up outside the port. They would sell a ton to people on their way onto the ship. You are allowed to take sealed food onto the ship.
Girl Scout cookies have gotten too expensive for the terrible quality they have now. I can buy two boxes of good cookies at the grocery store. Their mint cookies used to have a mint filling, not anymore. They have cheaped out so much I never buy them anymore.
If the GSA needs more revenue, cap the price at $5 per box. Whom ever provides the ingredients and the manufacturer of the cookies, should give an extreme discount to these girls. This would be a Christian thing to do.
No - it's emotional blackmail, open a floodgate of BS. Stupid parents. The little brat should be grateful being on a cruise, many can't afford it. 100% the cruise company.
No way, we have enough people approaching us from ships crew and in ports. I don't like being bothered with this stuff. They'll be knocking on your stateroom door, in the casino, at the pool etc.
Nobody uses money on a cruise ship. Even if someone wanted to buy it, they would have to go back to their cabin and then go back to the selling area. No thanks.
I go on a cruise to relax and have fun not to be sold cookies. I understand they are fundraising but a cruise ship isn't the place to do it. Maybe at the cruise terminal but not on the ship
If someone shows up at my door selling, I will purchase. Over the years, there has been a few times I did not for it was very questionable what they were selling and what organization. I have the ability to say no. The problem is that organizations have quit going door to door for the most part. I will not purchase when they set up in front of the door at any of the big box stores, they are in my way. I agree with Carnival, if they allow these folks to set up, who else will be doing so.
There is a program in the USA where civic groups adopt a stretch of the highway and then they put up a sign that says something like this section of the highway is maintained by whatever group it is they then keep the trash picked up and such. In one state the KKK wanted to do this and were denied they then sued and won the right to participate. If you let one group do it everyone can do it(They never kept up their section and were kicked out of the program)
I agree that it would be opening a can of worms but I did notice that Carnival was selling t-shirts and building stuffed bears for their charity ( St Jude ). Hmmmm.
I've seen some people offer Girl Scout cookies for sale on the Facebook groups, but that's something completely unrelated to the cruise line itself. I personally wouldn't want to buy them like that, but its somewhat more reasonable than setting up a table in the atrium.
If I am on a cruise I certainly don’t want to be approached by people selling things. The people in the ports do enough of that.
No girl scout cookies on cruise ships EVER!!!! Just another case of people thinking that they are entitled. I support Carnival's decision 100 percent.
Teaching kids about rules & accepting it is not cruel. It's a necessary lesson.
Absolutely no to selling on the ship! A shame they pulled out the "Christian" card
Especially when you look closely at the Girl Scout organization.
Nothing Christian about Girl Scouts since they allow trans people
Imagine all the charity groups that would want to be selling products on board. What a nightmare.
I am with the cruise policy on this one
I saw John's post that day. No one wanted kids selling cookies. A huge NO.
The last thing I want to be bothered with is kids selling stuff on a cruise. Enough!
These parents are delusional.
I can't blame Carnival's decision on this one.
The bad thing is that the child will follow in the mother's footsteps to feel entitled.
NO to selling cookies! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
They should have been denied. This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. You can get better cookies at buffet that you don't pay for....
Don you are so right. Now they want to sue because someone got sick from the cookies.
No selling cookies! Get a grip people ,we are on vacation.
Going door to door on every deck… where would it end ???How could an adult even conceive of such a ludicrous idea…wait greed????
Now that image, door-to-door, I like!
Give me a break! They need to get over it.
How does selling cookies line up with limitations on food brought onto the ship? Another thing, how many people are strolling around the ship with cash? Finally, now we are teaching girls there is no downtime even for vacation? How fair is it to girls to turn their vacation into a business opportunity?
I don’t like to be asked if I want to buy anything on vacation, not specialty dining or girls scout cookies
Ha! No don't ask me to buy cookies or anything while I'm on a ship!
The cringe I got thinking about that 😂
@@tinybrownin And the people fighting over the "choice spots" would make the towels in the pool area look amateur.
It is the right thing to do and has nothing to do with treating little girls mean.
Well said, Don! It would also interfere with the ports. Carnival stores are closed while in court for this very reason.
They are shut in ports due to tax purposes
Can you imagine if Carnival allows it this time, where do you draw the line? It’s ridiculous for people to ask them to allow it!! Really??
I think carnival made the right decision. Like you said if you do it for one you have to do it for all. They made the right choice.
This was brought up last year too! As a mother of a guide, NO! No you cannot sell your cookies on a cruise ship!!! People have spent enough already. Nobody wants to buy cookies or be solicited while on vacation
This is not the place for selling Girl Guide cookies!!!
Agree with Carnival 100%!!!!!!
You are correct.
Target doesn't allow sales booth on their property either.
Oh my gosh!! how ignorant of these parents to even think that would be an acceptable thing to do!!! absolutely ridiculous
Cruise policy is correct on this one. We don’t need sales groups of any kind on a cruise ship.
Lol😂😂 No soliciting on cruise ships, please.
No…no selling stuff whatever it is bc of
just what Don said!
that’s ridiculous you can’t have people selling home cooked food on cruise ships it’s about food safety
Girl Scout cookies are made in factories, not the home.
Even so, I suspect the parents saw a way to get $$$$ quick, and get the kids' commitment over and done with in a couple of days, rather than having to canvass a neighborhood.

And definitely when on vacation I don't want to be asked to buy something.
It's more Food Safety than anything ELSE ...
Carnival made the right call. We do not want to be harassed on vacation. It's bad enough that we have put up with aggressive peddlers in ports.
Girl Guides are British, Girl Scouts is USA
Canada has Girl Guides
All correct points.
thanks Don
Girl Scouts have to ask for permission from an establishment to sell cookies in front of the store. And if
they do not get the ok they can’t.
Agree with Celebrity and any other cruise line. Hawking Girl Scout cookies are bad enough. I can buy the equivalent of their cookies at the grocery stores much cheaper. If they let them then everybody wanting to squeeze the bucks out of us will want to do it too.

OMG, can you image a lawsuit if carnival said yes to one and no to another group. This is so common sense.
If they said yes to the Girl Guides they would be inundated with lots of charities wanting to sell on cruises. No is the only answer
2:44 On my cruise line having worked onboard for 22 years, solicitations of any kind including travel agents are not allowed. As well, selling food products of which we have no control over quality, conditions etc is strictly forbidden. Not with standing the annoyance factor.
I agree with you Don.
If they allow one, they have to do it for everyone!
Can’t have everyone selling on cruise ships. It would be so annoying.
I get sick from the cookies because I eat too many of them! I can resist anything but temptation!😅
😂😂 Carnival Cruise line becomes the Ryan Air of the seas! Nope, nada, please no!
They do not belong at the terminals or on cruise ships. Plain and simple.
No. Just no. No selling Girl Scout cookies or anything else. It’s bad enough being nickel & dimed by the cruise lines. Where would this stop?
Just like you said it would open up a Pandora’s box.
Does he mean girl scouts?
I think so.
I se3 nothing wrong with denying them. Give it a rest. People are on vacation and don't want to be guilted into buy cookies/candy or whatever.
They should totally set up outside the port. They would sell a ton to people on their way onto the ship. You are allowed to take sealed food onto the ship.
Maybe they will get a lawyer as their next step, lol.
I don't sail Carnival, but this is the correct decision.
Can you imagine the parents bringing large boxes onto the ship? Where would they store them?
Keep up the good work!
Imagine being a kid going on vacation and your parents want to make you do your yearly sales pitch from the lido deck?
Are they for real? Imagine if every organization has a sale, that is just impossible!
totally agree don
Carnival I stand beside them. I would be appalled if I see them selling on carnival. They annoy me. Makes total since to me.
Girl Scout cookies have gotten too expensive for the terrible quality they have now. I can buy two boxes of good cookies at the grocery store. Their mint cookies used to have a mint filling, not anymore. They have cheaped out so much I never buy them anymore.
The cruise would also lose revenue as people would be eating the Girl Scout cookies and not buying the desserts and treats that they sell on board…
It's Boy scouts/Girl scouts in America, Girl Guides in the UK (and Canada?)

If you allow one you allow all...the ship will become a "swap meet" in 6 months!
Nobody uses money on a cruise ship. Even if someone wanted to buy it, they would have to go back to their cabin and then go back to the selling area. No thanks.
I agree this is not a market. They could set up a booth and sell to people getting on the ship or into the cruise port
OMG where do these entitled people come from?
Good job carnival! There is no reason to have fundraising drives for special interest groups to be on board!
I go on a cruise to relax and have fun not to be sold cookies. I understand they are fundraising but a cruise ship isn't the place to do it. Maybe at the cruise terminal but not on the ship
There're food regulations
No No No
I say no I would be annoyed by someone bugging me all the time, I get enough of that on the ships already
Just off to check the 10 commandments to see how unchristian it is
Don would rather give young girls cookies.....maybe invite them to see his van......
If someone shows up at my door selling, I will purchase. Over the years, there has been a few times I did not for it was very questionable what they were selling and what organization. I have the ability to say no. The problem is that organizations have quit going door to door for the most part. It’s Girl SCOUTS. What the heck is a “girl guide”?
I imagine this is the name in Canada
It is the name in Canada
Not the little girls 😢
Yea and cruises are cashless systems anyway so most people don't have cash with them anyway
I agree with u Don and John heald
There is a program in the USA where civic groups adopt a stretch of the highway and then they put up a sign that says something like this section of the highway is maintained by whatever group it is they then keep the trash picked up and such. Why would you want to bring boxes of cookies on board to try to sell. No cookies or candy bars for sell
I agree with Carnival
