Used their site before and even if you manage to score a deal they kill you on the shipping and they tac on a handling fee. Not worth it. What really sucks is that most goodwills don’t even put out any gaming stuff they get in these days. They ship it off to be posted online and instead of the old days of $4 a game no matter the title. The days of mega scores and finding rare gems are sadly long gone
My Late Father was an Avid collector of toy trains. I have been selling the old ones on Ebay. I took a load (probably about 20) more modern plastic sets to the local Hospice Charity Shop. On about the third visit the shop manager told me "were putting quite a few of these on Ebay as we get better prices". At least its a good cause and it's them who has the problem of packing and posting them (maybe easier if you have a warehouse and are doing lots of items each day).
Forgot about the shipping, but yeah it's usually nuts. They had a handful of games that could've fit in a small USPS priority box, but they were asking like a lot more for shipping via Fed Ex I think. Anyway yeah shipping there can really feel like a rip off. I believe a lot of stuff is sold as is too. I once got some comics from them and they were all marked up inside
This right here. If you do find anything of interest, you always get outbid and they sell for some crazy price. Then you if you do win, it is usually from the other side of the US that you are on and they charge you twice as much for shipping.
Yup, their stores are just storefronts for the online store now. Any good finds are going to be shipped to an online bid and the stores are left with the junk.
I work at a Goodwill in South Eastern Wisconsin and Greater Metropolitan Chicago: FYI Goodwill Retail Services, Inc is the entity that manages the actual stores and the eCommerce side of Goodwill in our area. Seeing this episode was surreal because I help identify and send off high value items to that particular location in Racine, including one time a Commodore 64 in its original packaging with the manual and all. Unlike other goodwills, we do not sell consoles or vintage computers / video game consoles / electronic collectables (including collectable video games) in our stores, so eCommerce thrifting would be the best way to get your hands on these items coming out of our stores. Can also 100% say that people used to shop our store and buy jewelry just for the gold. Before our Goodwill region participated in the eCommerce program, we used to sell assorted metal jewelry in glass vases. We would make a killing on them, over $100 a pop, but it was clear the people who were buying them were buying them for the precious metal and their value.
I remember ages ago there was this TH-cam channel that pretty much did what this video did, but was on eBay, and he would sometimes bid on items in the episodes. I thought there would be a huge selection of "new" things in the shops judging by the piles of donations left during the initial lockdowns and the lines of cars waiting to donate but the few times I have browsed my local haunts since restrictions were eased I've found the stores to be much cleaner but sparsely stocked... I think a lot of stuff was just sent to the dump.
i went day of reopening in my town and it was packed with people and great finds. but there are alot of resellers out and they are hungry for anything they can make a profit on. every time i go to goodwill now i cant find anything and if i do its pure luck.

i stopped going long ago when i discovered full time resellers would literally hit stores all over town each and every day to sweep out the good stuff. if they could profit fifty cents on something they bought it to resell. pathetic.
Of course Goodwill of Tulsa only hold local daily auctions. They have a neat vintage sign off Route 66 between an oil refinery and the train yard, it’s real scenic even if it smells like Vaseline.
I remember the Bose wave infomercials they were constantly explaining "the quality of audio" by playing demonstrations. The problem with the demonstrations being that they came out the Bose, into a mic(or f#$@ it they probably mixed audio in and nothing came out of the bose being showed on TV), through broadcast or cable, and then out my regular TV where it sounded as good as my TV normally sounded.
If someone on TV tells says it sounds better than your TV speakers, people will believe it actually sounds better, despite the impossibility of it sounding better since it’s on TV. People don’t like to use their brains. Haha.
@@Schwarzorn They put out some respectable quality sound but I recall them going for $600 which was as far as I knew one of the steepest asking prices for a boombox/shelf system.
I remember seeing one of them in a flooring store. There was nobody in that part of the store and the little remote was just laying there so I played with it a bit, it sounded surprisingly good. Still stupidly expensive though.
The trick is to make the rest of the commercial sound crappier. Filter all the high frequencies for example, then when you play the Bose sample, mix it all back in, so it suddenly sounds amazing in comparison. They used to do the same with TV commercials for special non-flickering TVs. Add extra flicker to the rest of the picture, so that TV you're selling looks awesome, even on the horrible flickering old TV people watch the ad on.
Yes, keep this format. You can somehow take something as dry as a goodwill website and make it entertaining. You really do have a gift for gab. Keep up the great content.
Like the new format, nice to have a way to get the thrifts fix, even in these strange times. The Pioneer receiver looks super familiar to me, when I was at Uni, I ran a club where we listened to vinyl records & we had that exact pioneer receiver. Ours was very beat up from getting moved around alot, the woodgrain was not in a good state. We had to hook it up every meeting because we shared the space with some other clubs so I became very familiar with the rear connectors!
Glad you’re staying home and staying safe! It sucks to stay home so much, but it’s nice you found a decent alternative and I really enjoyed this format! (:

I been playing the scrap pc lottery trying to get a voodoo card for years. no luck so far. one of my best finds has been a diamond monster sound MX300 sound card and an Asus P5A-B mobo. I got lots of random parts been thinking about building a few retro rigs and trying my hand at selling some of them. been trying to think of places to hit up to find old computers. Been wondering about contacting the local schools in the area and seeing if they have any stuff from the 90s they would give away lol
You could always put out a wanted ad on Craigslist / FB Marketplace. Either offer to haul off for free (some people just want to avoid transfer station fees), or a vague cash offer (ie; buying vintage computers and parts!). I've had good luck with that in the past. Also, just making it known in your social / familial / work circles that you tinker is a great way to get hand-me-down relics. A friend of mine just gave me three functional, but archaic laptops (one is a Gateway with Windows ME, lol) because she knew I'd have fun just putzing around on em.

@@TheRealColBosch I heard the good stuff is called PYREX and the new stuff made out of soda-lime glass is called Pyrex. I don't collect, but I keep a lookout for the ALL CAPS version.
Wasn't sure about this at first, but damn. The format actually works! Love it!
I loved your thrifting series so seeing that you still continue to do the series makes me happy
i’m so glad you actually bid (and won) something. the mystery and intrigue!! love it
Greetings LGR! Glad to see another thrifting video, even in a different form.
Fun content Clint! Would happily watch more of these. Feels like a good holdover until whenever you can safely thrift again.
I saw the name and was like “there’s no way I don’t watch this right now.”
I saw the name and thought TH-cam recommended me an old video. I'm lucky I still clicked it. 😌
Reporting myself from the toilet! 😁
Same
Loved it. Not only the format, but also you, taking the current situation seriously. Utmost respect for you, sir.
I still prefer the regular in person thrifts, but when that's not possible, this is a good substitute! Please make more until the regular thrifts can start again!
I enjoyed the browsing and the commentary, if you make more I'll keep watching! Even when you'll end up going to thrift stores in person I still think this could be a pretty cool and relaxed parallel series, because it's a little different due to being able to talk about bids and values and stuff...
I like the format a lot! I think seeing other websites would be neat, too. Keep up the good work and thank you for all the wonderful videos!
Cool format LGR hey glad to seeing you back doing the Goodwill's Thrifts again ☺️💗💗💗
honestly, i was afraid that this new format wouldn't be able to keep the mood of the original Thrifts, but it totally does... so looking forward to following episodes!
Sat here for 23 minutes, watching you scroll through random items that I would have never look at myself. This sure is entertaining plus your voice makes it perfect.
next time you do an eThrifts you should have a look on Yahoo! Japan Auctions!
I like this format, it's nice and chill. Plus you get to see some fun stuff!
"The worst woodgrain, hideously beautiful." 15:16
You're like a masochist for home appliances lol
"Hideously beautiful" is a wonderful phrase. Sorry, hakuna matata.
My late aunt had the Bose Wave and it sounded fantastic every time. I remember using it anytime we visited her all the way up until her passing. I have fond memories of bringing my windows entertainment pack floppies and listening to the radio. Miss you Margaret Anne...
@@garyhanson655 same our goodwill has over 7 regulars I used to be semi regular but we have high risk family so I only wonder into a thrift if it's mostly empty now and it's always so picked over it's depressing
i stopped going long ago when i discovered full time resellers would literally hit stores all over town each and every day to sweep out the good stuff. if they could profit fifty cents on something they bought it to resell. pathetic.
Just want to say I love this content! Great adaptation of a known format to meet the challenges of this time!
Im pretty sure id watch Clint walk down aisles of grocery stores and picking out random stuff to talk about and still be totally entertained lol
I enjoyed the new format! You did a really goof job of narrating it as you would a normal thrifting video.
Of course Goodwill of Tulsa only hold local daily auctions. They have a neat vintage sign off Route 66 between an oil refinery and the train yard, it’s real scenic even if it smells like Vaseline.
Oh, I love the Durham tchotchkes. My mother had them all! It brought very nice memories! Thanks LGR!
@@TheOtherBill While Bose is usually good quality you're mostly paying for the name.
Love the eThrifting format! Congrats on winning your auction. 👍🏻
They for real just said "creepy dolls." Goodwill knows what's up.
"A lot of creepy dolls (if we can find them, they keep moving overnight ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )"
Yes, keep this format. You can somehow take something as dry as a goodwill website and make it entertaining. You really do have a gift for gab. Keep up the great content.
Even though it was eGoodwill having the Thrifts back makes me feel like when this whole mess is over we are gonna all be OK. THANK YOU!
This was great Clint. Love the format. Do what you need to do to stay safe and keep us entertained.
9:21 Well that caught me off guard. I've never heard someone call the Wii sleeve jackets as Wii condoms but now I'll never look at those jackets the same. Lol
This is surprising to hear! I remember that being the most common name for the remote sleeves ever since they were unveiled.
@@Kamakazie27 Well to be fair, I was 10 when the jacket was first unveiled to the public so that's probably why I never heard them be called that. But still, even any time after that, this was the first time I heard it.
I’m a fan of the format! Great way to continue and even revamp the series. No longer are you limited by location. Can’t wait to see more content
OMG I laughed my a** off at the Creepy Doll section!
Just wanted to say that I love your LGR Thrifts videos and you really made this eThrift video feel like the same thing to me. Really enjoying this new series!
I’d love to see more of these, maybe not from Goodwills but from local or regional resale shops. Find us some diamonds in the rough!
great video, had a lot of fun watching! I would love to see more
9:20 - "Wii condoms"
LMAOOOOOO
So I wasn't the only one who caught that
yeah, gotta protect your wiiener
Great to see you back with Thrifts, Clint! Keep up the great vids!
6lbs of Pokémon cards: Exists
Maxmoefoe: *excited ape noises*
Loving this format! Just to let you know about the high price on the Zippo auction, The other lighter in the lot is a Dupont lighter made of silver, those go for a fortune at auction if they are in good condition :)
well, he found a Plumbus while thrifting
ooooo-weee!
He didn’t show us how many Schmeckles that costs, though.
Rick and morty
Really?
Love the format! It's so fun to see what wild things you can find with the whole country as an option. Excited to see you do more :)
Nice! I love when lgr goes thrifting!
I love this format thanks for trying new things to give us our thrifts while staying safe.
Jesus criminy everything on there is so damn overpriced.
Ah, the beauty of normies browsing ebay for the max bid prices and repeating them for their auction sites.
And the shipping! Yikes! Even the cheap stuff doubles in price thanks to S&H. With abusive charges like that, it's more like S&M.
@@jessragan6714 S&H&M. Packing tape AND a whip.
it's like expensive AND THEN you have to bid on it. just worthless.
Good format! It's really good in these times, when going out can be complicated.
This guy never heard of Plumbus when everyone has one at home
I’ve always wondered how those were made.
Rick and morty
This was a very enjoyable episode. The fact that they do shipping is amazing. I love me some thrifting, but this is an acceptable substitute till things get better. You got hold of some real gems as well. More please!
This is a great format! I kept wondering “when is he going to bid or ‘buy it now’ on anything?!?”
I really enjoyed watching this. It was fun to see you bid on something and win! I would enjoy watching something like this again.
11:11 If that's a real ST Dupont lighter then yep, those are crazy expensive.
The participating in the auction was really cool and engaging. I would have gladly waited til the next installment of eThrifts to see if you won. I found the video enjoyable overall, but I could also listen to you read part numbers on an 8 hour loop.
I didn't know I wanted this but now it's so obvious I have no idea how I ever lived without it
Actually loved this eThrifts a lot more than I thought I would, thanks for doing it.
Bold new DIRECTION!
I definitely enjoyed the video and would encourage you to do similar ones in the future. My experience with goodwill is that shipping is very quick. Congrats on the nice find.

"Dang! I wanna stick my....."
Me: CLINT NO!
"...cash in there."
Me: Oh.
“Dang! I wanna stick my c*** in there!”.
He can’t help it. He just loves the look and feel of some nice hard wood.
Glad you're staying safe!
The P5Q is what's in my gaming PC, with a Core 2 Duo E8400 @2.99GHz, but just bought a much-needed Ryzen 3. Sadly the rest of my budget only allows for a CPU upgrade atm
@jr U this makes me unbelievably sad. :(
@jr U any voodoo card is worth $100+... FYI
It is as relaxing and enjoyable as out in the wild thrifts. Keep it up
